  1. I rolled a gold toon once but rerolled her because I hate soloing. I almost always go blue because that's where the teams are, though most of my toons are vigilantes or rogues, and I do switch over if there's a team recruiting. I also prefer the blue-side aesthetic to red-side (which reminds me too much of the alternate Biff timeline in Back to the Future). I'd be interested in gold-side if I could get a large team. Maybe someone will organize a recurring gold-side team that meets every Monday. I'd go for that.
  2. Roll "Ruth Blaster Ginsberg" (or "Ruth Tanker Ginsberg") and "Clawrence Thomas". You can always disagree on everything (whenever one suggests something, the other dissents).
  3. I've gotten several compliments for play as well as for name / bio / concept, and it always feels good. I try to do the same and will frequently send a tell when I see something I like. Probably the one which most stands out is from Live, and it stands out now for being an unusual thing to be complemented for. I got complimented on my skill using Teleport. And I don't mean a clutch Recall Friend. I mean Teleport. We were fighting mobs on multiple bridges and I TP'd from the lower bridge to the same spot on the upper bridge to help some teammates. Note that the bridges were directly one on top of the other, so there was no direct line of sight. The thing that impressed me was that someone actually noticed this. Plenty of toons have uber builds, but it's the players who show great awareness and strategy that really impress me.
  4. The overpowered nature of high level toons is one reason I keep rolling alts and haven't gone past mid 30s on any toon yet. The game has stopped being a challenge and that isn't fun. I would love to be in a recurring group that only played toons that weren't OP. This group would not use any IOs (except perhaps knockback to knockdown as a QoL improvement). All toons would be slotted with basic crafted IOs at or below level 25. No temporary Powers or P2W powers (maybe allow vet powers at low level since a two power attack rotation isn't a challenge so much as its boring).
  5. I build my toons either on concept or by what sounds interesting. And what sounds interesting to me is usually rare / unusual combos (this is the novelty-seeking that my ADHD brain loves). I tried a couple of matching primary / secondary toons but could never maintain interest in them.
  6. A rainbow is light that got split apart. You're so powerful you dominate light. Rainbows are metal AF.
  7. 3 Warshades and a Rad / Energy defender. Tank by knockback for regular content and have some go Dwarf when needed.
  8. To "see" a rating on a person who's only visible in a chat channel (or your friends list), right click on the name and choose "Edit Note". This will bring up your rating and note. I seem to remember a glitch where this doesn't work if the person is on a different server, but I could be wrong. For example, I'm on Excelsior and I right click on a global friend who is on Torchbearer, the "Edit Note" option will show an empty note.
  9. You already made your decision (and a fantastic costume!), but for future reference consider trying a Storm / Energy defender slotted for maximum knockback. I have one in the mid 20s and he's a blast.
  10. Teams are as diverse as costumes--you will run across all kinds so don't let any one bad experience make you think they will all be like that. If you're on a team and you aren't enjoying yourself, then leave and go find a better one. Over time, you will get better at figuring out which teams are most likely a good match for how you like to play. I generally avoid farming teams, PL teams, and speed runs because I'm not interested in steamrolling content.
  11. Consider going with Energy Blast. Storm is a chaotic set and you could augment that with the knockback-heavy Energy, giving you the extra control (and fun) of sending everyone flying.
  12. I wouldn't take it on a tri-form since it's basically like adding speed brakes. I have a new bi-form which will be built for tanking as well as human form and I plan to take Orbiting Death for that. I remember when players use to be call it "Orbiting Debt" because of how fast it would get you killed.
  13. Mass Hypnosis: Either make mobs currently sleeping be extra vulnerable when attacked (take extra damage or other effects last longer) or make it convert to a terrorized effect if they take damage while asleep (thematically the sleep would be a nightmare). Telekinesis: Don't change the mechanics of this power. It's iconic and one of the few where skill actually matters. Just walk-back the ED nerf. Allow it to target 16. Thematically, it totally fits with Mind. Telekinesis means moving things with your mind. Mass Confusion: Reduce the recharge like many have already suggested.
  14. My main pre-sunset was Mind/Kin and I built her out to be control and support focused and there was no toon I would rather be on if things started to go south. That said, it would help to know your goals and play style.
  15. The solution isn'tto limit characters since plenty of us play lots of alts and people who really want to reserve names will just make new game accounts to get around any character limit restriction. Better solutions would be to unreserve names that are for low level characters which haven't gotten any login or XP for a certain time frame. Or code in a hidden name extension (one for each of the old servers). This would allow multiple people to get their names. You could have a "Dr. Phil (Champion)" and someone else could get "Dr. Phil (Pinnacle)". The best solution, of course, is not requiring character names to be unique. If you try to send a /tell to a character and there are more than one in, you just have to add @Global to it.
