  1. I am SOOOO grateful to Anyad for hosting this event! It was nice to see the base actually get used and the folks haunting it were awesome! I had an AFKer haunting in there, (well, two, on Halloween!) and saw quite a few visitors come through! 🙂

I (DawL) already have a creepy bloody nurse, a scary clown and more costumes I can send to anyone interested, or you can make your own.
  4. I thought most of the bases in the competition were pretty awesome. It was hard choosing just one. When I toured the bases, I was on an 8' tall demon with wings. I started all bases with 100 points. I knocked points off for everywhere I got "stuck" and either couldn't get out or took a lot of moving around to break loose. I also knocked points off for confusing ports with little direction on why I was sent there as well as a confusing layout and getting lost a lot. I know a lot of builders do put hidden "easter eggs" and some are awesome, but some of the bases were harder to tour than others for the feeling of running over the same areas again and again. I added points for overall appeal to my personal tastes. Bases that got those were Dryad, Crash Castle, the Pirate base, the Coven base, and of course, Vault Luxe. The Dryad base was beautiful, however, I got stuck. A lot. I did go back on a tiny character and had a much easier time. Sadly, I got hung up in the Pirate base in a few spots as well. Crash Castle had a more... personal quirk for me (seeing toilets from standing outside the bathroom aka lack of privacy in the privvy, lol). All of them had some great features and you could clearly tell everyone who built them put in a lot of work. In the end, I am just very glad I wasn't a judge, because picking between 70-something of them must have been intense! Congratz to everyone in the base community and a special thanks to all those builders who create then open their spaces up for RPers to experience things that we wouldn't otherwise see in the game. You all have a lot of talent and vision to take the items provided in the editor and turn them into such amazing creations! Every one of the builders should be proud.
  5. YAYYYY!!!!! Congratulations, Dusk and crew!
  6. First - there is no "friend" to support! I DO NOT EVEN KNOW THE OWNER of the base. I just like a well-made, immersive, realistic base. I was wowed by this base the first time I saw it, back when it first opened. I wasn't "bragging." I was commenting in reply to the post that was INSINUATING that ALL the votes being cast were "alts". That's what they seemed to be implying. Then a bunch of literacy-challenge folks come in and say I was admitting that the votes were all alts of me, (NOT TRUE nor did I say or even imply that) and then it just snowballs from there like a twisted game of 'telephone'. So oh no! Bad me for wanting to share the artistry with others. And as for my "fanbase" (WTH? I have as fanbase? Wow nice to know!) voting blindly, none of it was blindly. Everyone I talked to got to hear me froth about (and/or see) the merits of the base. Not everyone visited, but I do know several who did. Some WITH me. And everyone seems to be *ASS*uming that all this took place in the 11th hour, which IT DID NOT. I was talking to friends about the contest LONG BEFORE this 11th hour crap. WHY SO MUCH TWISTING WORDS AND MAKING UP OUTRIGHT LIES? Now I remember why I mostly avoid the forums. Personally don't think there is ANYTHING WRONG with convincing others of the merits of a DANG GOOD BASE that is 1. artistic, 2. immersive, 3. well-constructed, 4. working as intended so my 8' tall demon didn't get hung up in scenery and what have you like some other bases (sadly, the Dryad base which I really liked, a couple of places in the PIrate base (which I loved), and the Rampage base), 5. was intuitive OR directed as re: teleport points (i.e. you took a teleport point and it went somewhere that made sense and you could easily find your way back. A few bases lost rank with me because I became lost or confused as to the point of teleporting, after using a teleport point. As in, it was a one-way trip with no clear reason for the teleport in the first place (Rampage). Crash was amazing in it's theme, and was a hard competitor for my second choice against the Pirate one. I loved the stage and the post-apocolyptic feel. I just loved Vault Luxe. AGAIN, Not because the owner is someone I know -- BECAUSE I DON'T NOR DO THEY KNOW ME -- but because it's A GOOD BASE. I liked a LOT of bases, and the top five were REALLY hard to weed out to pick just one. In the end, the immersion won out, but I did love the Pirate one (except for getting stuck a few places), and the Dark Coven. The Dark Coven was SOOO awesome but finding my way around was a bit more difficult so I gave points to a base that was easier to navigate. There's no requirement to be an RPer to vote. If that's going to become a criteria, then the base everyone is whimpering about certainly wouldn't do well as it's not really even realistically a RP themed base.
  7. Wow. More lies. Tell me where I said I was talking to friends about voting "at the last second"?
  8. You're very focused on that quote. You emphasis the VISIT but you aren't even seeing the (ONCE) apparently.
  9. How exactly is getting people to get out and vote "rigging" the vote? Just because I asked them to support the base I thought most worth? OMG if that's "rigging" then any election held in the US is RIGGED! Because that's what campaigns do. It's called "getting out the vote," not rigging. In the end, I have zero control over whether those people voted for my suggestion or not. Did they visit any other bases? Did they even visit the one I was hoping they'd vote for? (Okay, I know some did because I showed them around, but I did not show everyone around). Yes, it was suggested that folks see them all. I personally know two people who voted for other bases because they knew someone in the SG (or the SG leader aka base owner, not entirely sure which). Did THEY tour all the bases? Who knows? It took a LONG time to go through every base, but I did it. Even the ones on Excel where I rarely play. So again, how is asking LEGIT PEOPLE who have LEGIT accounts to vote "rigging"?
  10. Everyone who has a forum account has the right to vote. If they choose to give that vote for whatever reason, then it's not "vote bombing". Again I ask, do you think EVERY PERSON WHO VOTED toured every single base? I did. I personally looked at every single one of them. Did everyone I contacted go to the bases? Nope. Many of them told me they weren't going to. Some believe bases are, aside from basic transport ones, "a RP thing" and they aren't RPers. But does this mean they shouldn't be allowed to vote? I don't believe so. I suspect a lot of alt-ing was happening but not on the side you are accusing it of being. Hence the comment about the "alt" accounts not touring all the bases (except probably their own?). If you were worried about who voted for whom, why weren't YOU out taking folks on tours of bases? Which base did YOU vote for? Are you 100% sure NO alt accounts voted for that one?
  11. I did NOT STREAM it for friends. I was in a FRIEND'S stream for a while HE toured the bases (and watched/listened aka lurked in his entire stream until I went to bed). I told the folks who MY favorite was but said if they wanted a quick way to see all the bases to decide for themselves, go to (sent link to his VOD) because it covered ALL of them (and you can scrub through a video). Now... that being said, the streamer had different opinions and liked OTHER bases, and I didn't care if the person sided with them and voted for the other base because in the end (with the exception of my family members who I assume not to be lying to me) I have NO IDEA how anyone except for myself actually voted. I just know I pointed out which one I liked, and made several points as to why.
  12. That's NOT what I said. That was me, being snarky. Someone mentioned alt votes before and I was just pointing out that it's not likely that EVERY vote for EVERY base "toured them all".
  13. It was very hard to vote between the ones I saw. I didn't have the judges' rubric but had my own rubric. Was it easy to navigate? Did it have good RP features? Was it believable? The Crash one was number 3 on my list. :( But sadly we could only vote for one. I loved something about all of them but one.
  14. Optimally, yes, and I ABSOLUTELY DID. But there's a lot of people who really aren't that interested in bases or contests but were willing to trust my judgment and screenshots to vote for a base's awesomeness! I personally toured EVERY base in the Community Choice category. There were a lot of nice bases. Some had issues with a 8' tall demon moving around. Some had features that were immersion-breakers. Some were just...in my opinion, kind of odd. But my friends were willing to trust my judgment because they either: a) did not have time to visit the bases for themselves, or b) had no interest in doing so but we're willing to take the time to validate MY choice because they liked the screenies, my descriptions, etc. and because they are my friends. Look at the number of folks who voted. I suspect there are a lot of folks just want to play the game without getting involved with bases. Some don't care for RP and thus most of the features of a well-built base are lost on them. But they still have accounts and thus votes - and as friends, were willing to support my love for my personal favorite RP destination. Do you think every alt account toured every base? ;)
  15. Or a fan girl pinging and sending screenies to friends and asking them to vote for her fave. ;)
  16. At the end of the day, Dacy, please remember that you will never be able to please everyone. As a relative used to tell me - there will always be those people who could be born with a silver spoon in their mouth and one shoved in their... ear, and they'd complain that those spoons weren't filled with marmalade. I think the contest was a fantastic opportunity for builders to show off their bases! I know I toured every one in the CC category and thoroughly enjoyed most of them. For all those who didn't win, there's always a next time. For the judges - wow! What a job I would not want and thank you for doing it. I've judged a Halloween costume contest for the past couple of years, and that is hard enough! I cannot even FATHOM - even with the rubric - having to judge between those bases! Thank you both for all the time you invest in making base building better for ALL OF US!
  17. The DawL House: DH-21953 A base by stealthnight aka Mascot16 on Twitch A RP base designed to be a plaza in Roman/Italian style complete with a colosseum, lots of cool shops, and a lot of nice public and private areas to explore! There's a nightclub, a market, a cafe and bistro, a restaurant, bathhouse, and MORE! Bring your innertube and swim in the pool or tube around the canals. Take a gondola to your favorite destination - service to all of Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, Pratoria, and the Shard available! Open to the public.
  18. This was one of my favorites but wow, was it a lot of work. The sewer background is an awesome prop bought from one of my favorite artists, Stonemason (if you decide to try Daz, I recommend searching for him on the store). These three are DawL's daughter Sheken (redhead), her husband, Marcus, and their mate, the succubus known as Dark as Syn. All three of these were created originally on live and have been lovingly re-created on Homecoming. Sheken is a dark/psi defender. Marcus is a ninja/ninjitsu stalker, and Syn is a dark/dark/dark corruptor. Syn is probably my second favorite character, and thanks to a good friend doing a major overhaul on her build, she's a little beast now.
