So, I'm a veteran player since live, and have never leveled a Dom (or Troller for that matter), and would like some insight. Being completely new to control as a playstyle i know i will have to learn the ropes as i go, but if someone could maybe point out some powerset options that may be more "newbie" friendly that would be great. i have always loved Gravity control conceptually, but i have a feeling that it's damage focus as opposed to strong control may not make it the best option for a learning run. so any thoughts on maybe the 3 best bets for a first timer for both primary and secondary? i'm looking for levelling here, rushing or farming to "final build" isn't my goal, i'll get there when i get there, just want to learn to play a Dom up to 50. help a guy find a training wheel combo please. *Quick Edit* i will probably play a lot of solo, i'll hit the TFs and such, but to fill the gaps i'll probably run radios, tips and the like. thanks in advance.

ok, so i suck at builds, not that it seems to matter too much as my kitted out 50+ toons all seem to do pretty darned good. that being said my elec/elec sent is one of, if not THE most fun toon i have ever leveled. post elec blast changes it went from good/fun to wow/wow. now he is sitting at 50+2, all incarnate slots unlocked and slotted with at least the first tier, and is building up enough money to maybe kit him out decently. annnnnnddddd.... i don't know which direction to go. i LOVE the sapping from this toon, that's like 80% of the fun factor for me, but i have no idea if i have to build for that to maximize it, or if it's good enough out of the box to slot for def/dam/regen/etc... so, has anyone dialed in a decent build, or at least a high level guideline for how to build an epic sent?

thanks all, i was disheartened to hear that rad/ and nrg/ are near the bottom as i love both sets thematically. but elec/ getting some gas was a nice surprise, is sapping a viable option with a sent? does only start to work once you get TB? i love the mechanic itself, and had a pretty good sapping dom back on live which i liked, but would be hard to solo to a competent level now. i have a couple of ideas of characters i would like to make, and with your insight i can maybe skip some painful attempts (quietly sweeps rad blasting idea under rug). one of my thoughts was psi/, but i didn't see any info on that, what i've gleaned from some threads is it's solid ST damage, and lackluster AoE, which i would be fine with if that was the case. but i think between dark/ninj, elec/elec, or maybe sonic/something or another, i can build out something i really enjoy. thanks again!

has anyone ranked the primaries in terms of raw damage? i'm looking to build a primarily solo sentinel for my next toon, but i've run fire sets on my last two toons, so i'm pretty burned out on fire...... i'm sorry for that one 😞. as i'm not overly familiar with sents, i have no idea how the primaries fare, and i never really played Blasters either, so my only real experience with blast sets come from cor/def builds, which are skewed by buffs. i'm more of a concept player than a numbers min/max guy, but giving myself a bit of a head start without running through 4 or 5 builds until i land on one that "feels" right appeals to my limited amount of available play time. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

you are aware that black hole was changed, and the phase shift works differently now? it creates a field, wherein the baddies are phased to the "outside" world and can't attack/be attacked, but you can enter the field at will and then attack them, making this much more useful for segregating a crowded battle field if things start to overwhelm your team. also works great if you wormhole a spawn in the black hole, adding dazed stumbling to their predicament.

as an additional option, they have buffed the fighting pool. both boxing and kick get better when you get the other, and .... umm... crosscut? i think it's called is a cone attack that also buffs either/both of the other two. it does allow for some viable attacks for trollers, though with this new will pool i'm going to have to respec my grav/kin, see if i can fit it in, i would have taken sorcery but the magical rune look didn't really mesh well.

this is what i do, glad i'm not the only one. though i tend to skip golden age, do a silver, bronze, 90s "extreme", and a 00s armored/spandex look. and if i think of an origin appropriate one, like magical gear for a magic origin, i'll do that.

Thanks Darkir, i saw your fire/kin build in the forum and liked it (you kept repel for reasons i agree with), and was thinking about trying to adapt it, but then i figured it was very aoe focused and the whole thing smacked of way more effort than i can muster for these kind of things. the build looks a bit expensive, but funds and recipes/sets are much easier to come by on HC, so i should be able to make this work. i appreciate the effort man.

So, going through the Corruptor section i found zero topics for a En/Kin, i know energy isn't a favorite amongst most players due to badly played KB toons causing lasting PTSD. but even looking through the topics that rate or rank the different primaries, energy is usually just left completely off like it doesn't exist. One of my mains back on live was an En/Kin and honestly one of the most fun characters i've ever played (yes i hover and position my KB for best effect), i've recreated him on HC, and moving pretty steadily up the levels despite my altaholism. i've never really been great at builds and slotting effectively, too much of a "concept" player, but really looking to make a functional build with decent def and some recharge, or def and res.... not sure what is actually doable with this pairing as far as sets go, the logical mathy part of my brain turns off when i play superheroes. so if anyone could help, maybe throw a build or a couple suggestions my way, that would be MUCH appreciated. thanks in advance.
