  1. I think for me the most enjoyable part of the game is playing different characters, powers, ATs etc. On my main I spend a bit of time on incarnate and endgame stuff just so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything there, but to me it's mostly a lot of work that isn't worth it. If I want to get her fully cranked out I'm looking at hours more leveling for incarnate slots and salvage, hours planning out the right build, WAY MORE hours farming influence and buying the stuff I need to kit out those IOs. All for what .. bigger numbers on the screen? So I can farm +4/8 instead of -1/8? To me none of this compares to the enjoyment of getting even 1 new power when leveling a toon, or having a menu of different 50s I can play depending on my mood. So I rush some of those to 50 so I get to actually experience those sets/ATs fully. If I'm being honest .. I also could really give a rats arse about story and content. I just think the powers are cool and I like to kill stuff.. especially en masse. I farmed my brute to 50 on the same AE mission over and over again, and as soon as I could handle /8s, I loved every second of it. I also love running in full teams filled with tons of mobs and chaos. As most here have said .. to each their own. That's the beauty of this game - there are SO many different ways to enjoy it.
  2. It just has some unique combination that draws me to it: 1) It's simple enough that you can easily play without theorycrafting anything. 2) It's complex enough that if you want to theorycraft you can.. but since everything is obscured pretty much the only one that's going to notice is you. 3) The variety of power combinations is vast. Even before they started expanding them passed the 'vanilla' archtypes and powersets I would never have been able to have every combo I wanted. Now I definitely can't. 4) The game is primarily about having fun. Sure there are raid-type things to do but even that stuff is nowhere near as serious as most endgame-based MMOs. 5) You can play solo, or with a group just the same (some ATs better than others obviously). 6) Special bonus, when you team with people they actually talk to each other (I'm looking at you Blizzard). 7) Also, the amount of things to do in the game is pretty vast so there's enough for everyone to find something they like. Some like bases, some like crafting, missions .. TFs .. Trials .. raids .. AE.. And some like mindlessly melting the faces of hordes of enemies in hazard zones with Burn or fulcrum shifted fire imps (guess which one I am). Overall I think the game just doesn't take itself too seriously - it's just meant to be fun, and it succeeds. Still my fav MMO ever. About the only thing I didn't like back when I played was the grind from 1-22 (esp. to 14 for travel) on alts, and DfB/DiB kind of take care of that problem.
  3. I'm 43 .. I have spent a lot of time playing MMOs but this list is suprisingly short. Earth & Beyond - It wasn't around for that long but I played it on and off. This is the first MMO I can remember playing although I played a lot of MUDs and other online multiplayer games before that. SWG - For the first few months only. I was heavily into the farming and crafting early on (Master Weaponsmith) City of Heroes - Overall my favourite. Played from launch until around I12 consistently, and then on and off through to the end. My mains were a Fire/Emp controller and a Katana/Regen scrapper, along with many, many other alts. World of Warcraft - From launch until current with some breaks (currently on a break). Main Night-Elf rogue and Draenei Shaman. Warhammer Online - Maybe for 3-6 months. I actually really liked this game .. but I'm not really into PVP so it ultimately wasn't right for me. Rift - Also maybe 3-6 months. Great concept but it got old quick. Tabula Rasa - I bought this and played the first month. I liked it and was shocked when it got shut down so fast. Wildstar - Same as above. Elder Scrolls Online - still play it occasionally but don't have much into it. Most of the games above I really liked but ultimately COH and WOW were the ones that held my attention and I didn't have the time for more than that. So I would wander off and try others just for a break in scenery and eventually go back. COH had a big impact on me personally which makes it the game that is probably most important to me. Others that I only basically tried on a trial or maybe the first month: Champions Online
  4. Yep .. @Tanzier, main was Mistress Burn, Fire/Emp controller, Omega Flight SG. I was pretty heavy on the forums too .. earlier on anyway. I played heavily from release to I12 or so, but I was still around sporadically after that. I'm super jazzed about this .. I rolled MB as a Fire/Kin, which I always wanted to do but never had the cajones to reroll a 50 :( I've also rebuilt most of my alts .. of which there are many.
