  1. Wow, thank you so much for your detailed reply! I appreciate you going the extra mile and posting your best pairings as well.
  2. Just curious what primary/secondary pairings with the same theme are considered complimentary to each other. I've seen Fire/Fire mentioned, but are there other matching primary/secondary powersets that work especially well together?
  3. Rise! Rise from oblivion! Seriously, though, Yomo is a real gem of a player. I've learned so much from reading his threads. I'm not sure if this is still a thing, but it seemed the best place to thank Yomo for everything. Thank you! May your impact on this community never be underestimated.
  4. I remember only ever going Galaxy-King's Row-Skyway City during beta. It wasn't until Live that I saw Steel Canyon. I absolutely loved the grandeur of it, especially since I was such a huge fan of flying in CoH. Something about flying to the top of a skyscraper and just hanging out up there always grabbed me. Plus it is the first zone that felt open in a way that the zones leading up to it didn't. Flying down that huge steel canyon at the center of it just felt so good. As with others, the return to atlas park when homecoming opened up was emotional for me. Hearing that music, seeing Ms. Liberty. Tilting the camera back to take in Atlas. It felt like coming home again.

  6. Awesome, thank you for the info. Guess I know what my next alt will be!
  7. Hi Redlynne, Long time reader, first time replier. Do you think the Storm secondary could provide an interesting interaction with DS? Specifically, after slotting KB>KD IOs in some of the key damage powers, would it be possible to DS ghetto-hold some folks in a bubble of tornadoes, freezing rain, and lightning storm craziness? Admittedly, I've never played a /storm, but if this idea would work, I have so many visions of contained storm-chaos... like a snow globe of nature's fury.
  8. I want to thank everyone for this discussion. I made my first Dom after reading it and was able to grok the playstyle fairly quickly with all of this in mind. I have to say that it is quite fun.
  9. That's perfect, thank you! I usually try to find a build with decent defenses/resists, slap it in Mids/Pines, and then modify it rather than building from the ground up. It helps my process to see what someone else has done and work from there. Thank you again, this will do nicely!
  10. Hey all, I like to have a build on hand to tweak when I start something, but can't seem to find any Dark/Sonic builds anywhere. I've seen a couple of mentions in various threads but didn't want to necro them to build request. Anyone have a build they are using or have used and enjoyed? Thank you in advance!
  11. I like this idea. I think it and ideas like it (maybe with zones that are a little less popular/used) could be a first step to further integration of the sides. I have no idea about the amount of work that goes into a zone switch like this, but it would be a great start for implementing some of the most commonly mentioned ideas. I really think integration is the key to helping villain population without doing the drastic step of revamping the Rogue Isles themselves (which seems to be a very hard sell for those who love RI as it currently exists). I know that I would be one of the first to make more villains if I could more freely move about while still maintaining my being a villain. It also seems like this was the direction Live was headed before Sunset.
  12. I actually found it somewhat less immersive that this zone was considered so dangerous, but the contacts were just hanging out right there in it like they had plot armor so thick nothing could get through it. An airdrop into the hostile territory situation (by changing the entry to helicopters or boats) would make far more sense to me.
  13. I did not know these existed until MetaVileTerror mentioned them in another thread. I will take a look over the weekend and post my thoughts after. Thank you for doing this!
  14. I need to follow the **!!!** link and read what has been done/discussed, but I would greatly enjoy assisting in something like this on a writing level. I may not have any coding background (though I understand conditionals/variables fairly well), but I can edit sentence structure. If you have a list of forum names somewhere for people to recruit for your undertaking, by all means include me.
  15. I have not read everything here, but wanted to chime in with why I don't particularly like playing in Rogue Isles. Also, I'll add what, specifically, could be done to get me to play more villains (and even play in Rogue Isles). I played CoH beta, CoV beta, and played on/off the entirety of Live. I liked the Rogue Isles for the first maybe 10 levels. After that it just felt depressing to play in. It's chaotic, which would be fine if it was one or two zones, but almost every zone feels like the same sort of chaos with different names attached. I don't have villains in Homecoming (yet), because I created them as heroes and plan to level them before I switch them to Villains. That's how little I enjoy leveling in Rogue Isle. I want to feel like the puppetmaster, not the puppet. I don't make a villain to be a henchman (and I don't know that anyone really does, or if they do, they plan on that being the starter arc for their villain). As I'm sure others have said, there seem to be an ton of assumptions made about your villain before you ever even create your character. If you don't plan your entire concept around those assumptions it just feels broken to play the missions in the Rogue Isles. As to how to increase population: Put some mission arcs in Paragon City for villains to start in the city (maybe culminating in their capture and exile to Rogue Isles or something). There are zones that are basically entirely villain-owned anyhow. Maybe one of these little-visited zones could be co-opted and redone to house the villains (Hollows feels particularly empty any time I head there to get my badges, among other zones). Turn them into villain starter zones with excursions into the other zones of Paragon for various door missions. There are all these door missions where villains have somehow taken over a random building and made it a secret base, how about getting to play the villain who takes over that building? What does that look like? Way back when I first heard about CoV coming out, that was what I thought it would be. The other side of the Paragon City coin, not fighting over the garbage heap that is the Rogue Isles. Let me team up with the villains I see all over Paragon as a free agent for hire or even a faction member. What do we do with the Rogue Isles, then? Keep them, but modify them. Let heroes head over there covertly to attempt to make things better from within. Add a signature arc in Atlas similar to Matthew's where it culminates in your character being selected for a special one-way ticket to Rogue Isles to help an underground movement of heroes who want to take back the Isles (or at least topple the death grip of Arachnos). I know that feels more like just injecting heroes into the Isles, but I honestly think if you adjust them to Rogues when they agree to this arc it will allow for the double-agent feel of being in the Isles (Like Holden Carver from Sleeper).
  16. Decided to go all-in on the nrg/atomic variant here as I level (so taking powers a bit more randomly than what you mapped, but slotting the FF+Rec as I go). I team a lot so I went ahead and slotted a KB-KD in Torrent along with the proc. Just had to come on here after running Yin to say that this build is a monster. By the time the two scrappers had their initial targets down the only things left standing were the tanks. The addition of AM plus the performance shifter I happened to get from posi2 meant I never had a single end problem as we ran from one spawn to the next. Total TF time was 34 minutes. I felt like a deity as I slammed Aim or BU and hit the entire mob with torrent before melting faces with my ST. By the time I'd fired off my rotation I could hit the other buff power and slide through the rotation again. Non-stop power and so much fun! Thank you for sharing this build. Definitely the most fun I've had since being back. I can't wait to see what happens when I get Explosive Blast and Nova.
  17. Thanks for the reply and the link to the HC wiki, I did not know that existed!
  18. To piggyback on this with a quick question rather than create a new thread: Can you slot flight speeds in both fly and afterburner to get extra fly speed? How fast can you get with flying? Mostly asking because this game has the best flying feel of just about any game I've ever played. I don't take it on all my characters, but when I do I use it A LOT because of how awesome it feels (and faster is always better, right?).
  19. Thank you all. I think it'll be fixed once I have the influence to complete the build. I'm learning the ins and outs of the toggles as I play and all of your advice is very helpful. Just a small learning curve, but I think your comments have helped me with catching up.
  20. Here's what I have now (I can adjust this with common IOs, but can't afford more sets and such until I get more influence): Here's the build I'm moving toward:
  21. EDIT: apparently I don't know how to export mids, I'll edit again when I get it right.
  22. Hey there everyone. Back in the before-times I only ever played Blasters and Controllers regularly. Now that we are back in game, I find myself playing with melee far more often. My highest is a recently-turned-40 scrapper and I realized while on a mission where I kept getting debt that it was time to respec. I found several builds, but they all include tough, weave, combat jumping, and maneuvers. Adding those to my shield defense toggles that brings me to 7 toggles. Do folks actually run all of these toggles at the same time or are they used in different situations? Admittedly, I've only half-slotted attuned enhancements into my powers, but I prioritized the various recovery/regen procs and filled the rest out with lvl 40 generic IOs (including end reduction)... But it seems like I may still be drinking the blue bar like water in the desert. What am I missing here? (I can post the build I'm currently building from when I'm back at my computer, but wanted to get this question out)
  23. Wow, that looks very interesting! Thank you!
  24. Does anyone have a good Shield/SS build they can pop in here for me to play with a bit? I tend to prefer group play. If, for some reason, SS doesn't work at all with Shield on a tanker I could also use Street Justice, Energy Melee, or Kinetic Melee (though I think I recall hearing not-so-good things about Energy and Kinetic). Thank you in advance!
  25. I know I'm necroing this post, but what advice would folks have for end management on a SJ/DA brute?
