  1. How about an Assault set that uses conventional melee and ranged weapons (less gadget-y than the upcoming Arsenal Assault)? But we can select the skin of the weapons from the already-existing models (swords/axes/hammers for melee, bows/guns for the ranged).
  2. Well they are already filling the "thematic gaps" for the different AT Epic pool powers, so continue on with that! 😁 In general - if there are any more opportunities to proliferate powers to different ATs, that would be great. Gadgetry and Utility Belt Power Pools, to finish off the origin sets. Travel Pool Power - Grapnel: * Parkour (+run and jump toggle, can jump off of surfaces, +DEF) * Swing Kick: swing or zip into a foe, doing damage + knockdown * Swingline (physics-based - operates like a reverse/upside-down-jump - hold down shift while swinging and let go at a point in the arc. press again to fire off another line) - Zip Line - gives a burst of speed forward or straight up * Entangle: Single-Target Immobilize or hold. Swing Kick gets some benefit from entangled foe (+Dam?) * Deft Maneuvers: toggle, Self +Speed, Res(-Spd, Immob, +control while you swing/fall), +Def(All), less Def if you attack. Wind/Air/Storm Control and Water Control for Controllers/Doms - just to finish off those elemental control types. What about Heroic Patron Power Pools? If not from the Freedom Phalanx but from some of the good organizations like Vanguard, PPD, Longbow, Legacy Chain. A few organization-appropriate powers based on AT and a summon for one of their soldiers.
  3. Short of finding a way to get rid of the whole unique name thing, I don't see any good way out of this. It was a short-sighted design flaw that still haunts us from the very birth of the game and I don't think there is a simple or easy way to change it (if possible at all). In any case, people who have 100 level 50s will still be sitting on those names years from now (even if they abandon their account) and the time-release name solution they came up with should have been turned on from the get-go (but even that has limited usefulness). Maybe if they extend the name-release to level 50's as well? Apart from software changes, you could try your luck on another shard or as others have suggested, try to "be more creative".
  4. The whole "unique name" thing that COH has is one of my pet peeves with the game, even from day one almost 20 years ago. Who cares if someone who created a character 5 years ago and hasn't touched it since has the same character name? I'd rather see another character with the same name as one of mine than the "leet speak" derivatives. I know the "character@account" method that other MMOs use is likely not something that could be brought to this game (current method probably baked into how the servers talk to each other) but one could dream. That said with the sudden influx of new players, I wouldn't be surprised if that naming policy they have been threatening to implement is actually switched on soon.
  5. Give those guards a break - they have a tough job. Like the two that guard the gate from Crey's Folly to the Rikti War Zone, staring down a literal army of Freakshow all day.
  6. No - NCSoft still has the leash as they are the IP Holder. You would still be living by their good graces. You may be envisioning a world where CoX servers keep popping up like weeds (despite the technical and financial difficulties), and if they are feeling like it NCSoft can play whack-a-mole with the servers. But that situation is not good for the players of an MMO either. No permanence, no progression, no community - all vital for an MMO. Even if the populations are kept small and server kept secret (like 2012 to 2019), you don't have the "massive multiplayer" of the game, just a wilted, sickly plant kept in the darkness.
  7. I went to Star Trek Online for a good while. Unfortunately as time went on they just started piling on the multiple currencies, veered hard into gamble boxes, they actually removed content etc. At some point I was just logging in to grind the dailies and it became like a second job, so I dropped it. Tried Champions but could never get into it - it had some good points but anything of any worth was placed behind a paywall. I mostly just concentrated on single-player games and avoided MMOs for the most part.
  8. This is my view on the situation as well - particularly with City of Titans. I mean if nothing ever became of the game, then we would still be in the same boat. But if they or someone else managed to produce something, then it could be a step up from where we were at the time. I agree that the "return" of COH had an effect on the successor projects. That said, even with CoH "back". It doesn't mean it will last. And let's not kid ourselves, this game isn't perfect - there are areas where it could improve. So I'm still interested to see if one of the projects can actually pull something off. I followed CoT the closest as I wasn't really interested in the two or 3 other projects for various reasons; SoH I didn't like the sci-fi "it's all on a spaceship" bent, H&V seemed like a mirage, I don't remember Valiance offering anything that caught my eye. There was another project as well that were/are working on re-writing the base COH code in another engine. I'm trying to remember the group's name. Anybody know who I am referring to?
  9. I've long thought a Scrapper Confront should inflict a debuff along with a single-target taunt or provoke. Like how Spidey gets his foes so riled up they can't target him accurately, or maybe setting them up for an attack or distracting them. So I guess you could go with Defense/Resistance/To-Hit debuffs, Slows/-Recharge, short-term Confuse etc, depending on the theme of the power set.
  10. I really think some of the mid-level groups like the Tsoo, the Warriors and the Family could use some more stories attached to them. I mean the Warriors and Family are the heads of a couple of different criminal networks involving other enemy groups (The Smuggler's Run and the Supradine Connection respectively), with the Tsoo vying for the same territory in the city.
  11. The main reason I would like to see Wind Control is that it would be a new Control set. Controllers and Dominators could use a little love.
  12. I just come up with a neat costume/character concept and pick whatever power combo/AT that fits. Basically, it's not a single powerset that keeps me playing. It's the fact that there are combinations I haven't tried yet. But then I really don't care about optimization.
  13. From my own experience the Storm Cell moves fast enough, and recharges fast enough, to be used in successive fights. The ring around the icon gives you a good head-up to cast. I'm just not sure the procs are activating that often - I guess it's because different SB powers give a different % chance to activate them? Not sure. Other than my skepticism of the proc rate, it seems like a pretty solid set.
  14. Yeah when I figured out you could do this is made the set a bit better - getting to set up your opponents before you start attacking. If I were to buff anything I would have ALL of the set's attack powers have the same chance as Direct Strike to trigger Storm Cell's "extras". I like the set and it's mechanics are interesting, but it does feel a bit "soft" at times.
  15. Well there is also the two unfinished Origin Pools - Gadgetry and Utility Belt. Not sure how difficult it would be to finish them off but I would love to see them made available. And yes, there could be all kinds of opportunities for other regular power pools with a cool theme (like how about a melee weapon power pool like sword/mace/axe etc.)
  16. I think they could be a valuable addition. Instead of a full powerset a couple of these in an update. There are certainly many thematic "holes" in the offerings to various ATs. For instance, tankers do not have access to Dark, Psi, or Gadget-based APPs for instance.
  17. Agreed. While I think it's great that a lot of Primary and Secondary sets have been proliferated (and would like this trend to continue, along with the addition of brand-new sets), I think there is a lot of room in the area of power pools to help round out a character. Along with expanding the "elemental" themes to different ATs (Fire, Ice, Dark, Stone, Tools/Weapons, Psi, etc.), how about Hero Patron pools, Faction pools (Oroboros for Time-based powers for example), or even oddball pools like "Sidekick" (allows you to summon one pet, and includes some pet buff and utility powers, might be a bit too OP with Controllers and Masterminds). Oh and requisite request to have the Origin pools finished off via Gadgetry and Utility Belt.
  18. There are lots of Fake Nems on Tyrant's Rock in the Cascade Archipelago.
  19. I guess it is the age and not being optimized for modern hardware, but I often find this game gets my fans spinning faster than modern games.
  20. Ah of course. Hmm - maybe that needs to be tweaked a bit then? Will have to check out the actual numbers, but I rarely seem to even notice that having an effect in the past.
  21. I think Defense-heavy powers at high levels might need a looking at. For Ice Armor, the answer could simply be in the Blaster's Frigid Protection (which is basically a buffed Chilling Embrace). Similarly, for Force Field, a means to provide some +Absorb would be helpful (though I think FF has more issues than just that, the Absorption mechanic would be a big help). I haven't really thought of a good thematic solution for Super Reflexes yet - maybe some means to "roll with the punch" or a "glancing blow" or something to reduce incoming damage?
  22. It was mentioned in one of the post-shutdown "Loregasms" that Genesis was supposed to be something like placeable buff/debuff fields, but beyond the concept I don't think anything concrete was worked on. If the devs ever DO decide to fill out the rest, I'd very much like them to be like the Alpha or Interface slots - passive buffs or procs. We have more than enough powers to click at level 50+, I really don't need any more in my 6 power trays. If additional content is needed (rather than just letting the Incarnate XP build up to unlock the slots as it does now), then I'd recommend 8-man Incarnate TFs (like Apex and Tin Mage) rather than huge multi-team trials. Not only is it easier to recruit for smaller TFs, but they are probably also easier to design, and the smaller team means that your individual powers can actually matter instead of being rendered nearly irrelevant in the league spam.
  23. I for one, can get behind some Incarnate Story Arcs and more Incarnate TFs like Tin Mage and Apex. For one, it's probably easier to design for up to 8 people max. Secondly, I welcome more story arc content added to the game - even end-game stuff. And thirdly, on a regular 8-max team your character can shine, and not be lost in the FX spam of a full league on a single AV.
