  2. Howdy folks, As the topic title says, I need help deciding whether to make a Blaster or a Dominator for PvP. Will be for mostly 1 on 1 and small team fights, as well as zone stuff when and if the opportunity presents itself. The choice for me is narrowed down to either a Psi/EM or Psi/Martial or Psi/Time for the blaster, or a Dark/Energy for the Dominator. Any help on the pros and cons of which to choose is definitely welcome, thanks.
  3. Greetings, Heroes and Villains alike! I'm new to building characters - this is only my second - and am hoping to get some guidance on this one: My EM/Shield Scrapper. This is not based on any posted builds out there; I made it from scratch. Given my lack of build experience, I'm sure I've made some errors. I suspect it's not the most efficient build. I don't have a methodology for building yet, and I admit to being a bit overwhelmed by all of the options and info available. But I'm sticking with it, and I mean to improve... This is my first EM/Shield Scrapper. I REALLY like it so far, and found the playstyle pretty easy to adapt to. I've noticed many builds seem to use Fire Mastery for the epic, but I chose Mu Mastery for the -End secondary effects. My idea here is that it's potentially more helpful to a team in all-around content. (Yes I realize it's a little less damage output than Fire Mastery.) I seem to regularly drain the end of any lingering bosses, so it's having the desired effect. But back to the reason I'm here - this build needs improvement. So what follows are my thoughts, and some of my initial testing... Intended use of this character: All-around PVE content. Ability to farm. +4x8 as much as possible. Solo AVs? If there's a way, YES PLEASE Here are some positives I'd like to maintain: Softcap defenses (obviously) Perma Hasten Perma Active Defense Good Regen (currently 215%) Good Recovery (currently 204%) High Accuracy +ToHit from Kismet High damage bonus Feelings and observations on its performance: I feel like it kills things pretty quickly for a scrapper. That's a big part of what I'm enjoying about this character. There's no feeling quite like rushing solo into a huge cluster of enemies, and demolishing them. And yet, could it do even better here? I feel like I get hit way more often than I should. With softcapped defense, good Def debuff resistance, and pretty okay resists, I expect more out of my survivability. This feels much more squishy than I'd like. It seems that a large part of my current survivability is just how quickly I can kill things. If I'm having an off night where I'm not on top of my game, I foresee having issues staying alive. Areas in need of improvement: Survivability. I'd like to feel damn-near indestructable. AND I'd like to accomplish that without sacrificing the positives mentioned above, if possible. Even more damage output? Is that possible? Tests against various mobs, all at +4x8, solo bosses enabled: Knives of Artemis - I annihilated them. I did not expect this, because they're rather nasty. I had no trouble hitting them whatsoever, I dealt pretty severe damage to them. In some cases I ended up actually putting holds/stuns on bosses. I had to eat an occasional green, but nothing out of hand. I did not have to activate any incarnate powers to get an edge on them. Freaks - They were a bit slower to kill. Super Stunners did give me some endurance issues, but the few blues in my Insp tray kept me ahead of that. No overall issues taking them on. Again, I did not have to activate any incarnate powers to get an edge on them. Fire Farm - I think it was the Bloody Fire Farm, on the asteroid map. I had mixed results. With Hybrid Melee active (75% fire resist), I did fairly well. In some cases where I was swarmed I had to eat some greens rather quickly because I was just getting overwhelmed with damage. (In my current state, there's no way I'd be able to sit in the midst of them idle and survive.) Once I faceplanted. In most cases it was my damage output (killing mobs off quickly) that kept me alive. S/L Farm - I did fairly well here. Mobs included bosses and EBs, most of the incoming damage was melee. I had to eat greens a few times, but I never felt I was in much danger of dying. Malta - This did not go well at all...ugh. I rushed the first full mob (I think a second swarmed me too) with both Ageless Radial Epiphany and Melee Core Embodiment active. (Active Defense on as well, obviously.) I opened with Lightning Rod, right into the middle of them. Then identified a Sapper, and immediately Shield Charged him, and then fired off Thunder Strike. Before the animation finished I had gone from full health and endurance, to insta-dead. In fairness, this may have just been a crap RNG result. But I really did not expect a catastrophic cascade defense crash on that level. I had to stop there, so I don't have more of a performance sample size with Malta. I had higher expectations. I know my energy resists aren't the best even with Melee Core Embodiment active (43.2%). Obviously I'd like to be able to confidently take them on. Carnies - Not yet tested, but I'm expecting them to be rough given the Psi damage. Evolution of this build so far: This is version 2 of this build. Version 1 wasn't much different, but I had initially not taken Active Defense. My thinking was, "Well if I'm not getting hit anyway, why take the power?" This proved to be a mistake. My initial outing was against Knives of Artemis, which quickly revealed I'd made a poor choice there. I was getting hit fairly often, and was getting stunned/slept. In short, it didn't go well, so I quickly respec'd in Active Defense. In version 2, Active Defense replaced Jacob's Ladder. (I don't miss Jacob's Ladder at all.) With my recharge, Active Defense is perma, and I've quickly adapted to keeping an eye on it to keep it up almost 100% of the time. This change was a huge improvement! Going back up against Knives, I gave them a nice ass-whooping. I also replaced Steadfast Protection KB Protection with the Resist/End in True Grit, since Active Defense is doing that job for me now. The resistance gain from that change isn't really noteworthy, however. I'm ready for a v3, but I don't know what to change at this point... I'm open to hearing arguments in favor of taking One With The Shield, but I'm hoping to achieve my survivability goals without it. (I don't like end-crash downside to the power.)   7. Hey everyone. I've been having trouble finding a consensus on WM/WP on the forums or any website in general. I started by using what builds I could find and then tweaked them with the help of the in-game Help chat and the Homecoming discord to create this build. I'd like to preemptively state that Laser Beam Eyes is a purely for fun and I'm sure there's another set that would be a better min/max. With that said, are there any other obvious improvements to be made here? This is intended to be a general max level build, not geared towards any specific activity.   10. Hi all, I made an Ill/Time Controller and have been having a lot of fun with the combo. This is my first time using either powerset, though, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good guides for either. Basically, I'm curious about which powers in them are considered must-picks, and which are skippable. With Illusions, I'm curious how important Spectral Wounds is in the late game. If I respec out of it, will my pets be able to do enough damage for me to solo? Is Time's Juncture worth it if I'm going to be standing back most of the time? Same concern for Flash; anything that's PBAoE makes me a little concerned. Any advice would be appreciated!
  11. I use the Reunion server. Most of the time I try to enter or leave a mission instance, the loading bar freezes and it returns me to the login screen. After i type my password to reenter i get a pop-up that says "your account is already logged". If I type again it lets me enter without showing the EULA. I tried numerous time and the loading screen always take at least 2 minutes even when it doesn't crash. I tried to lower the graphics but it didn't change anything. Also I noticed it happens more often in the Imperial City and King's Row zones. I would like to know if I can do anything about this, thank you.

  15. I have a macbook pro and I'm not able to log on. Not even past the screen. When I press 'enter' after putting in my password, it freezes for a moment then gives me the same notification popup saying that its either the server thats down or a firewall issue. It's about a paragraph long. I turned off firewall to see if it was that and it was still saying it. I checked the server status and it's not down. I checked to see if I had any anti-virus programs and I don't. I'm so confused. I uploaded an image. I even went to the "island rum" app and pressed rescan several times and nothing. I restarted computer and checked for any updates. Nothing. This sucks! Please help! This was only gonna be my third time playing.

    Every time I attempt to open a build that I find in the forums, Mids' Hero Designer gives me this weird error, below. If any one has any suggestions as to how to not have this happen, I would appreciate it greatly!

I'm certain this question has been asked before, but I've googled it, I've searched the forums, I've read the related posts and I've asked in-game for help, and so far I'm getting nowhere with this. I would really love to use keybinds with my Mastermind characters, but I am completely and utterly unable to get them to work. I swear I am not a stupid person, but this is making me feel stupid, and at this point I'm about ready to give up on MMs entirely. I knew I would find this too complicated and I was looking for a hand-holding, "talk me through this like I'm a complete moron" kind of guide, and apparently I can't find one. Following the directions on Sandolphan's guide on Guidescroll, which a player kindly directed me to, I have tried using the Bind Chains (Version 1) binding method. I copy the script to notepad, then I copy it exactly as-is in-game (for example, the All line reads /bind numpad0 “bind numpad4 petcomall agg$$bind numpad5 petcomall def$$bind numpad6 petcomall pass$$bind numpad7 petcomall att$$bind numpad8 petcomall fol$$bind numpad9 petcomall goto” so I copy that). However, when I try to execute the command by hitting 0 on my number pad in game, I get the error message Unknown Command "bind I cannot figure out where in that command line the command breaks down. Is it not supposed to be all one line? If not, where am I supposed to break it up? I can see that the problem is with " "bind " but I don't understand what it's supposed to say or do instead. Then I tried using the bindloadfile method (Version 2), only instead this time I get a completely different error message, depending on where I type the command. I tried typing it in Team chat, since I wasn't on a team and therefore no one would need to read my idiocy, but got the "You are not on a team!" message. Then I tried typing it in Local, and if I put the / in front of the command it said something about not knowing what NUMPAD 0 was, or if I left the / out it would just have my character say the command directly over her head, so I looked like an idiot in local chat. I can't even explain the problem in chat because the coding ends up cutting off the question. I've asked for help in game, and have basically been told "If you just follow the guide it'll work." I am following the guide. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, because I'm doing exactly what the guide(s) say to do. At this point I feel like my requests for help are being ignored in chat, and I'm so frustrated I could cry. I genuinely don't know what to do at this point, other than to just not play MM (or not try to play one using keybinds). As a note, I have successfully done other forms of commands and keybinds, so I'm not 100% inept at this. I just can't get THIS to work. Thank you!

  21. So I am a new(ish) player and have finally (after 4 other characters) gotten a character I really enjoy playing and its a Claws/Fiery Aura scrapper. My current goal is to have good AoE damage with some decent single target dps, I'd like to be able to do some farming with it I don't really expect to get to Spines/Fire brute farming but if I could get something like a +1/x8 build without a huge investment that would be awesome. I can currently do -1/x8 OSHA missions at level 47 with just crafted enhancements and its fun. Also I'd like to say that I play mostly late at night so soloing is what I do a lot during the week until my days off when I like to group a lot because its cool to play with other people and such. I am really unfamilar with creating builds but I through together what I hope is a pretty cheap build that I mostly focused on Uncommon sets with some random neat proc stuff thrown in that I found on the builder and through some random builds and such I looked at and through together this build which I am hoping for help with (please keep in mind that I really don't know what I am doing and trying to just figure it out). *edit* Also I have about 60m insp I have hoarded for this moment, so if possible I'd like to keep it around that much.   22. I'm not pretty tech savvy when it comes to downloading things like this, but I've tried my best so far & would appreciate a little assistance. I tried following the steps to downloading the game on Mac, I have Island Rum installed. The file is located in my 'Applications' folder, still named 'Island Rum'. I have clicked the play button once it says 'Ready To Play', it will then say 'Launching Homecoming 64 Bit' or 'Launching Homecoming', as i have tried both, but then nothing happens. Can someone explain to me as simply as possible (lol) what I might have done wrong in the process? I know the installation for Mac said somewhere about selecting 'File' & changing the name of something to 'CoH', which I haven't done because I'm not sure where I'm supposed to do this. Also, do I have to do anything with regards to this HomeBrew page? Any help appreciated! Thanks!

I had gotten a message about my drivers being unable to run it after the recent update a few weeks ago,i ran into this on another computer, but it worked fine, (so i dismissed it) this computer runs windows 10 home -an all-in-one inspiron dell, was bought not 2 months ago, whereas the other an alien-ware Aurora R4 from 2010-with windows 7 professional and with recently upgraded memory- could run it fine getting that message; i only ever got the message once on my current all-in-one, (all-in-ones are not easily upgrade-able, and this is a temp while my alien-ware is in shop on an unrelated issue.) Even after an attempted reinstall, it wont even launch the game past the blue bar that says 'LOADING...' on any of the HC options like before. I have never had any issues with the game before. If anyone more tech savvy could help me id appreciate it, please. Im not sure what the issue is, or what i need to change to make it work. if i need to post specs, i will. -thank you!

  25. so first attack is offense and second attack is defense opportunity I understand that part, for first two powers the description says they give -20 res in the power descriptions so if i attack with both of them the enemy has -40 res? or is it talking about the inherit power opportunity strikes what is the -20 res part referring to? lastly is taking the two starter powers a must as sentinel?.. I really only want to do the offense version since i have enough defense and healing already
