Water/Poison build?

Azoren

Recommended Posts

Hello, lovely people of the forums. I'd like to see if anyone could recommend a build for Water/Poison.

It seems poison is a either a disliked set, or just one that most people ignore for one reason or another. I definitely see its flaws, but after playing for 40 levels, I do enjoy it.

So, now that I'm nearing level cap, I'm starting to wonder a couple things:

1.  Which powers? Do I really want all the water powers or should I leave some out? Which supplemental powers should I grab? (I do really like having recall friend for team utility)

2. How do I slot this build? Please keep in mind I'm very much a noob when it comes to slotting and I've only managed to earn about 5 mil inf so far. An initial level 50 budget build is probably more what I'm looking for, rather than an "ideal" expensive build.

I'd also love to hear peoples' opinions on other powers to pair with poison. (Water just looked fun and fit my hero thematically.)

Thanks!

Poison/Water is a defender pairing. This is the corruptor forums. 🙂

Now, a Water/Poison build I can help with. So, the idea here is to stay in melee range as much as possible and use soul drain to boost your dmg. With envemon+soul drain+venomous gas I'm hoping you can crank out the dmg. Use dehydrate to heal. I have two 50 poison corruptors and I just don't like them in comparison to many other secondary sets, go ahead and give this a try, but range will be a problem.

Hey @Darkir, thanks for the correction and the build. You're right, I meant Water/Poison!

(Coincidentally, I also rolled a Poison/Dark defender to see what I prefer, and I found your build in the Defender forums too.)

I'm starting to pick up on the themes for poison strategy being:

  1. Super speed/stealth to get close to the mobs so you can...
  2. Debuff with envenom+venomous gas+poison trap, then...
  3. Nuke everything

By the way, is there a reason you chose not to pick up poison trap for this build, especially when we're planning on fighting up close? Is it subpar compared to the other water options?

I personally just didn't find it worth while and I was trying to get as close to range and melee softcap as possible. Poison trap can be good, especially if its proc'd out, but I just didn't like it in practice. This is also kind of how I feel about poison in general, it just doesn't feel or play all that well in practice and it is further hurt by not having a self heal, which is why I made sure to add a healing enhancement to dehydrate. For what poison is trying to accomplish (-res and -tohit debuffs), there are just better sets at doing it while retaining other benefits. Rad and Dark spring to mind. I really wanted to like poison, but I find myself going back to my dark miasma or cold domination corruptors instead time and time again (this is when there is another kin in the team, if there isn't a kin, I'm always rolling on my fire/kin Corr). It's a shame really.
