Graphics Card / GPU Survey

GM Dredd

Recommended Posts

Manufacturer:Windows

Model:OEM

Operating System and version:windows 10 1809

Does the game load (and error you get if not):

Geforce GTX 560 Ti

Driver Version:391.25

Monitor Resolution:1600x900

Multi-monitor?: 2

I assume I am getting a "mapsever" error frequently, loading the game crashes with no report, loading from a mission to main map area crashes game with no report. This happens once or twice every few sessions i play. I am aware that my graphics card is no longer supported by Nvidia and they will not update drivers for it since march 2018.

Needed info:

Manufacturer: NVidia

Model: GTX 970

Operating System and version: Windows 7 Home Premium w/ service Pack 1

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes

Optional info you like:

Driver Version: 25.21.14.2531

Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Multi-monitor?: no

Graphics Preset Used: high/ultra

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing): Other than the character loading screen being REALLY slow, it's been mostly smooth. I did have some crashes when farming for damage, which was related to a physX issue (lots of bullet casings)

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't): Disabled PhysX, no crashes since.

Needed info:

Manufacturer: nVidia

Model: RTX 2080

Operating System and version: Windows 10 Home, latest

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes

Optional info you like:

Driver Version: Geforce 441.41

Monitor Resolution: 2,560 x 1,440

Multi-monitor?: Yes - 2

Graphics Preset Used: Ultra

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing): Have over 150fps, but if draw distance is more than 1, the frames drop considerably. Probably a limitation of the engine. But this I only increase for exploration badge hunting. Otherwise the game runs well, and loads fast with an SSD

Keep in mind the minimal reqs for this game I'm pretty sure any new computer/laptop meets. It is a old game and the minimal requirements to play are easily met by any new device.

Of course having a good graphics card lets you push the limits of the game but really by how much? It's not like this game is brand new for 2019. I played during live and I'm happy to play again just have fun and don't worry too much about graphics cards, but, this is just my opinion of course.

Needed info:

Manufacturer: AMD

Model: RX 570

Operating System and version: macOS Catalina

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes

Optional info you like:

Monitor Resolution: 2,560 x 1,440

Multi-monitor?: No

Graphics Preset Used: Ultra

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing): Overall, great. I'm using an eGPU enclosure over thunderbolt 3 to a Macbook Pro 15". Keeps the laptop cool, no CPU issues through wine. GPU runs well, but obviously not as well as non emulated. Thankfully COH is older so this budget card has no problems other than coil whine!

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't): I have to close Island Rum after the game starts loading as it will send my CPU into perma turbo boost and 100c. Runs cool once I quit Island Rum though.

Operating System and version: Windows 10 Home

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes

Optional info you like:

Driver Version: Geforce 441.41

Monitor Resolution: 2,560 x 1,440

Multi-monitor?: Yes - 2

Graphics Preset Used: Ultra

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing):  fast loading, smooth frames. I find the SSD more important than the GPU overall for loading speeds and character select screen coming up fast. I had the game loaded previously on a standard HD and experienced slow loading. I ran the game on ultra with no stutter on a much inferior GPU (Nvidia 1070) prior to upgrading, and it still ran great with ultra settings, the SSD upgrade has been by far more impactful than the GPU being top flight.

Device: Laptop Intel(R) HD Graphic 3000

Manufacturer:              Nvidia GeForce GT 550M

Model:                         GeForce GT 550M

OS and version:           Windows 10

Does the game load (and error you get, if not):

Yes, the game loads just fine but I do get the message that my graphics card is out of date. However,

there is no update for my driver due to the age I guess. Can't find it anywhere including Microsoft.

Optional info you like:

Driver Version:              HD - 9.17.10.4459 / GT -21.21.13.7654

Monitor Resolution:     1920 x 1147 (Windowed)

Multi-monitor?:             NO

GraphX Preset Used:    Recommended

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing):

For most of the time the game runs great until there seems to be a lot of on screen auras, or effects. Then it starts to stutter and rubber-band.

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't):

I've had to drop the GraphX preset down to (Min) to alleviate the issue but sometimes that doesn't help either so I log off and wait for the server Pop. to drop.

~Although, 1 question not asked that I feel might be of value is; What is your geographical location?  I am located in the USA (MST)

 Evga Geforce 2080 XC Ultra

There is some FPS stutters. Mostly its smooth but it can have frame rate variations that Gsync can handle but it isn't as smooth as it should be.  I do not know if its latency of frame rate issues. My connection latency though is great.

Graphics Preset Used:  Windowed, Quality, advanced: disabled

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing):  Smooth, flawless*

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't):  none needed

* some mobs will fade out if too many on the screen, but that's always been in the game.  Boy Band's all MM mothership raid, with 48 Masterminds in the "bowl" was pretty epic.  No graphic issues apart from mob fading (target through pets, etc).

I'm only going to give the rudimentary stuff

Desktop 1

CPU: Unspecified AMD Phenom II CPU

Video: 2 Crossfire configured ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series Adapters 1GB Video (OpenGL compatibility unknown)

OS: 7 x64

Memory: 12GB (Down from 16 before the module burned out)

Setting: 1280 x 1024 (Max supported by the monitor)

Issues: Random BSOD every now and then if I have the game open and multiple browser Windows. One memory module burned out recently...

Desktop 2

CPU: Unspecified AMD Phenom II CPU

Video: Single ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5800 HD Series Adapter 1GB Video (OpenGL compatibility also unknown)

OS: 7 x64

Memory: 16GB

Setting: Same as Desktop 1

No issues of note at this time.

Needed info:

Manufacturer: Nvidia / Intel (Nvidia Optimus)

Model: Geforce RTX 2070 / UHD Graphics 630

Operating System and version: Windows 10 x64, home edition

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes, perfectly.

Optional info you like:

Driver Version: Official Nvidia 441.66 / Official Intel 26.21.14.4166

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Multi-monitor?: No

Graphics Preset Used: Ultra Plus (Ultra modified as follows: experimental Cel Shading enable with max transp qaunt, no posterization, thick lines, cel lighting. bloom off, all settings cranked up where possible except particle physics set to none and character render distance set to 100%, driver level image filtering at 100%/ignore 100% film grain and forced 16X AF)

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing): Perfect experience, very little heat generation.

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't): Had to disable bloom when using thick cel shading lines to reduce black flickers on screen. Forced Vsync on and to use triple buffering at the driver level. Had to manually set the game to use the Nvidia GPU, AND set preferred opengl GPU to nvidia.

Model: GTX 660 (Main), GTX 645 (Secondary; same silicon as main just less active processing units)

Operating System and version: Windows 7 Ultimate 7601 SP1

Does the game load (and error you get if not): Yes, runs fine, most of the time I am CPU-bound

Optional info you like:

Driver Version: Forceware 365.19 (I dont fiddle with this if it works)

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (main, GTX660), 1600x900 (Secondary, GTX 645)

Multi-monitor?: Yes, see above

(Added) CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2690 v1 (Sandy Bridge, 8c/16t) that is bugged to run at 3.3ghz all cores all the time. I think it's a BIOS issue but have never been able to confirm.

Graphics Preset Used: High custom

Overall experience (any stuttering, glitching, etc or smooth sailing): Mostly smooth until there's an ungodly amount of crap going on, then my FPS drops into the pit due to CPU limitation

Any steps taken to resolve issues you encountered (both those that worked and those that didn't): Reduction in settings when participating in raids to keep the FPS up some. Disabled shaking entirely to fix MSR crashing.

I run in ultra mode 64bit with very little problems.  only occasionally having to step down in large player zones like Rikti War Zone when attacking ship or Attacking Hamidon in with full zone.  Strike forces and incarnate trials are typical fine with full performance.  Card does run a little hot but internal laptop fans take care of it easily.  I find this card very useful in game as I can easily stream to discord and record to file at the same time as well as actively play without performance loss.
