So wait, wouldn't the procs (from both scrapper sets) be better off slotted in a fast recharging single target attack? This whole "best place to slot procs" thing gets very confusing....for all classes, not just Scrappers, heh.

Falsey, Bill Z Bubba -- following your discussion with great interest as I am planning out a claws / sr.  had some of the same questions as Falsey on health and stamina.  other than set bonuses, why so many slots in those?  do you need that much endurance recovery?  is the health regen that noticeable compared to even 2 or 3 slots?  though not sure where I would shift 3 or 4 slots to make a bigger difference in the overall build.

 

assuming we keep 6 slots in health, was wondering about the trade off with slotting numina's instead of preventive.  you lose 25 HPs and a little end recovery and recharge rate but gain almost 4% in range defense, a bit better s/l resist, e/n def and HP regen.  hasten might be just short of permanent but pretty close.

I honestly don't know how much my regen slotting is based off of reality or memory of a belief that regen was what was keeping me alive when otherwise I'd be dead. As per mids, swapping out PrevMeds for Numina's would still leave Hasten perma if it is still slotted with 2 50+5 recharges.

 

Seems like another good call. I suspect you could probably steal 2 slots from Physical Perfection, leaving just the 4 uniques there, utilize those slots elsewhere for even more goodness, and not notice the difference in actual gameplay. Edit: Looked that this... don't think I'd do it depending on whether the loss of +acc is noticed and I need to steal a slot for the karma +tohit.

Well, no. First one of them is a global you just slot it and it boosts your critical hit chance a little.

 

The other one is a proc and the whole procs per minute thing has turned conventional wisdom on procs on its head. In the past if you had a fast charging low damage attack like your typical first or second power in an attack powerset, if you slotted it with damage procs that chances of them firing with the repeated use meant it was often a DPS gain over a damage IO/SO.  It doesn't work that way any more.

 

You're actually penalized for using it in a fast recharging power, even your recharge enhancements count against you in that calculation. When the procs now say they're probably fire off 2x a minute, they kind of mean in that exact situation of spamming a fast attack with it. Putting them in slower charging attacks raises the chance of triggering, and AoEs often trigger procs very well because more targets means more chances to check and fire off usually. But again, it's a bit of a nerf from before because instead of a proc possibly going off on everyone in the AoE once it triggers it stops (I THINK). But if you're trying to get a build up proc to fire and you put it in tactics every ten seconds it makes a check vs every friendly player you're buffing and so it has a high chance of giving you a buff is high. But, bizarrely, if you stick the build up proc into actual build up, the recharge on it is SO high there's about a 66% chance that any time you fire off Build up you'll trigger the proc effectively getting double build up.

 

So what the discussion here is boils down to: stick the 50% critical hit bonus in something like Spin which hits a bunch of targets and makes it likely you'll get a buff making your next hit crit, or put it in a moderate speed bread and butter attack at a critical point in your attack chain so that the crit buff is always going to happen before you use a heavy hitter.

I guess it's a matter of taste, really.  My build has slightly different stats, but it probably performs about the same as @Bill Z Bubba's version. Here's the base totals (+5 enhancements):

I'm considering ditching some melee defense for +dmg bonuses instead and see how I feel about it.

@Zirilion had another note... why use serendipity in the passives when I could use reactive defenses? Here's the build I ended up with. Didn't fix it in the build yet and for whatever reason Mids won't import the live buildsave, but everything that can be +5 is. Procs are not unless they proc and buff the power. AT IOs, of course, are also not +5ed.

 

BZB was already a powerful blender. Now he's immortal and stuck on puree. Thanks to all that gave guidance on this.

 

Total side note: I'll be checking later to verify, but it appears to me that having two builds, one all attuned for exemplaring and another maxed to the gills at +5 is a colossal waste of inf. But... I had it so why not use it? In the future, I'll be +5ing purples, basics and pvps and attuning the rest on a single build. EDIT: I checked. It was a horrific waste of inf. But oh well... good learning experience.

Here's my build for comparison! I went with extra Melee Defense by slotting Avalanche set on Spin and 6-slotting Boxing, even though I don't care all that much for incarnate content.

 

My stamina seems to be at the sweet spot with 3 slots, without ever using Conserve Power (well, I might have to run a few Carnie missions just to be sure). For that reason, I'm actually thinking of dropping Maneuvers for Assault and see how my blue bar handles it. Having extra 10% dmg is never a bad thing and Maneuvers is only there for the LotG anyway (which can be moved to one of the passives).

 

From reading this last reply of yours, I realized that I don't know a few things:

 

  1. How do +5 specific enhancements on Mid's (I only know to set all to +5)
  2. I thought attuned enhancements were mostly meant for leveling, not affecting at all the performance of a exemp'd L50
  3. Does slotting order even matter on HC?

Just before you place the enhancement, as you are hovering over it, press the + key (usually 5 times).

 

Attuned enhancements allow you to keep the set bonuses when EXd (at least to their minimum level allowed), For example, if you have all level 50 set, once you ex to 44, you lose all those set bonuses (except for purple sets, which you should never attune because you already keep the bonuses (and the game should not let you attune them, that is a mistake I made on two purple sets before I remembered)).

 

Slotting order only matters while leveling, when you EX, you keep all your slotting, even those slots you got at 50 (if they are in powers you still have access to that is).

Another suggestion:

 

In Physical Perfection you have 2 standard Heal IOs.  I would replace those with 2 heal set IOs at + 5.  You can use a Panacea for 2.5% endurance and a Preventive Medicine for 3.75 S/L resist, etc.  You could also use a Miracle Heal IO with the Panacea for 5% endurance, but the Miracle heal would only be a level 40 (+ 5).

Yea, the basics were dumb. I lose nothing and gain. PrevMed is only adding 2.25% SL as per Mids but every bit helps. And more recovery from Miracle (the cheaper option) is always welcome. I did verify that no caps are surpassed as well. I'll fix those in the build shortly. Thanks @Lockpick. This build just keeps getting better and better.
