Hey all Trying to understand a few things about Beast Mastery..

Pack Mentality,  Fortify Pack  and Dire Wolf abilities specifically.

Using Mids I see that that the Dire Wolf has a Resistance Buff.

Is that for me  ? Or the Pet ? Or Both ?

When activated in Mids it changes my personal values.

How is the time frame for getting 10 stacks of Pack Mentality ?

Pack Mentality and Fortify Pack, this is a Pet ONLY buff correct ?

I’m a bit rusty on Beasts.

None of the beast buffs affect the MM. they are pet only.   Also ignore the crit chance wording in the Fortify packs description.   It doesn’t impact the pets crit at all.  You don’t need to take it for your pets to crit.  I tested it.  I mainly used it as a LoTG +recharge mule single slot. Or to put in any other defense uniques.  But that was just me.  It was extremely rare that I ever used the actual skill.

pack mentality is a damage buff that stacks on the pets for like 10% per stack.  The pet attacks and the MM personnel beast attacks have a chance to add a stack.  When you cast Fortify pack it strips the damage buff and converts the stacks to a defense bonus for the pets.  At the time of conversion more stacks means more defense bonus.  It also keeps the pack mentality stacks from coming back for a while.   So you can’t have the damage buff and defense going at the same time.

From what I remember I think the average normal stack count I saw was about 7 or 8.  9 and 10 were pretty short and sparse from what I recall. I think, but I’m not sure it’s due to each stack having it’s own buff timer.  So the  old ones roll off.  It also comes from them stopping their attacks to buff.  For example one of their buffs takes like 3 seconds to cast but it only lasts for 15 seconds. So that is lost attack cycle time.    It doesn’t take too long to get 4 or 5 stacks. Maybe an Attack cycle or two.  5 seconds or so????   I wouldn’t count on having 10 stacks of mentality.  At least from my memory.

you might dig up one of my beast YouTube videos and watch the stack count.  I have several PI portal fight videos and I think a pylon video also.   It will give you an average fight stack count that is more reliable than my memory. And that is with me spamming the swarm and hawk attacks also.

I have several videos on beast mm example fights.  here is one

also. I’m not sure if it’s been fixed or if it was designed to be unenhanceable .  But the lionesses take defense IOs but it doesn’t actually increase their defense howl buff.  It is always 6% or whatever the percent is.

beasts are fun. I like their melee range style.   It makes for a nice old DAOC /assist train melee group. 🙂

I keep thinking about turning Skunk Man into a beast/time.  Or some other pbaoe heal set and then I could go MeleeMind /assist and play pain train.  It would work well until the enemy casts Caltrops.  Then the beasts turn to chickens

another thing.  If you plan to do so. Swarm and Hawk the two single target attacks make a complete single target rotation with a good recharge bonus.  12121212121212. Heal, 121212121212. Heal. LOL  🙂
