Yeah, I get the same.  It's because of the older version.  However, if you click ok, the build does load just fine anyway.

I was working on a build after studying a Shield/BS build and an old budget Shield/Fire build and I thought I'd have a look on here so I've just seen the build posted by Hyperstrike and am now comparing it with what I was building as it has some fresh ideas.  This is great stuff 🙂 

 

Thank you Hyperstrike.  I have an initial question I see you chose Pyre Mastery.  I had been considering Mu Mastery for the AOEs and Energy for conserve power but suspect Incarnates will mean that Endurance isn't an issue.  What I am interested in is why did you settle on Pyre?  

 

I would never have thought of Perfect Zinger: Chance of Psy Damage in Taunt.  Does it work nicely in there?  What a tempting idea!

I've been working on this but with a leveling build so Positron's instead of Ragnarok, Scirocco's instead of Armagedon, etc.  There are some very reasonable substitutions that take you to a similar place and it works nicely as a build.  Thanks.

 

The only thing is that I've came across the odd mission where the lack of Knockback protection is a challenge.  Any observations on Knockback protection in the end game?  I don't have much experience of it as all my ranged alts have tons of KB protection.

As place-holders?  Sure.  But Purples are much more attainable these days with Vanguard Merit Conversion...
A few ship raids will get you a full set of any set you want.

The purples are definitely the plan but at the moment I am broke.  Now that I am not focusing on level to 50 I can get my brute out and make some money and start on the purple project.  I see you went for Cardiac Core is that a common choice for tanker alpha?

The shield part is the same build i use on my Shield/SJ which is my Main

 

Its unkillable, aside from unresistable stuff like Blue swords of death in Apex TF or anything that tells you to move out of the way fast in the Incarnate trials, but even then you have about 10 seconds of getting hit before it kills you outright.

Basically, I went Cardiac Core for the global End Redux and Resistance enhancement.
So, seeing as Defense is sufficient, we add a bit of toughness to the underlying Resistance layer.
And your resting End consumption is 1/4th your Recovery.  Bascically allowing you to ATTACK!ATTACK!ATTACK! like a crack-addled murder-bunny.

I'm sure there is a reason for this as I have seen it done in a few builds, but why take both Hover and Combat Jumping?

Well honestly it's personal preference, I like to fly and fly fast so I get hover to get to afterburner.

 

But hover and afterburner also gives you a slot to mule defense set uniques like luck of the gambler.

 

Ultimately you don't have to use fly at all in these builds - that's just what I like.

 

On other squishy builds I utilize hover as a death from above tactic to keep them at range and keep the field of battle under control.

 

Combat jumping on the other hand gives a good defense bonuses and maneuverability so there's not any build I have that doesn't have CJ in it.

 

Every build I have except my farmer takes fly, hover, afterburner, and Combat jumping.

So I have been running this for a while on iTrials and TFs. It is tough and works well on AVs however I have noticed that other tankers can round up mobs far more effectively than I can and have also noticed that my taunt is in general less effective. I have came to the conclusion that I need to adjust the build to improve the enhancement of taunt.

 

As an example I was on a task force where I was asked to off-tank the trash. I didn't perform well. The other tanker (with a lower level shift) actually broke off the AV and started rounding up some of the trash with ease. This got me thinking about rolling different powersets and building a new tablet but on reflection would having a full set of mocking beratement fix this?

 

I am working twice as hard on these taunt scenarios and having half the effect.

 

Did they ever fix the shield defense taunt aura?

Are you using the Blazng Aura? nevermind thats Fiery Aura, sorry brain fart.

 

I didnt realize the shield defense taunt aura was broken though.

 

I run Street Justice, but ive never had issues with agro honestly.
