[Legacy Launchers] How to access the Beta Testing shards

The beta testing shards are no longer visible by default in the Homecoming live manifest, as a sizable number of players dislike being forced to download the files and have the extra options show up. Instead, it is now available through the following URL:

https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml

In order to add this manifest to Tequila, follow these instructions:

Click the "Options" button.

Enter the Manifest URL in the "Manifests" text box, then click the "Add" button.

The "Manifests" box is the one at the bottom. Do not put the link in the top box labeled "Launch Parameters" or the game will fail to launch. If you don't know what Launch Parameters are, make sure that box is empty.

Note: The correct manifest is https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml

Make sure the new manifest is selected and click OK.

After clicking "Add", the new URL will show up in the list of manifests. Make sure it is selected by clicking on it, then click the OK button.

Check that the beta manifest is active, then close Tequila.

Under the "Play" button you should see the beta manifest URL. Do not attempt to launch the game now, or you will launch the live shards. Use the "X" at the top right of the window to close Tequila.

Restart Tequila and you should now have the HC Beta options.

After launching Tequila again, the HC Beta (64-Bit) and HC-Beta (32-Bit) options will be available. After they are done downloading, select either of them and click "Play" to launch the game.

Is there different Login info? It's not accepting my normal password which works fine when I switch back over to normal server.

The following is what I was told, when I asked the same question in another thread a while back. There still hasn't been an update since December 6th, but I try logging in every 2-3 days anyway just in case someone stealth-cloned the list or something. Still no luck though: (Edit to Add:) I'm wrong... just saw there are new patch notes from January 6th, which was right after I last tried to log into beta... aaaand looks like I can finally log in now! So I guess keep an eye out for the next beta patch notes and then try again.

The Beta Server user list is periodically cloned from live.  Looks like the last time it was updated was the first week of December, so it doesn’t have you as a member on it yet.  Next time the Dev’s update Beta you should be good

http://patch.savecoh.com/beta.xml opens a page of code.

Yes, it contains the code that Tequila uses for launching the game.  You specify that URL in Tequila, Tequila goes to that URL and reads the code, and then executes whatever instructions are there to make sure your client files are updated, and when finished, lights up the PLAY button for you.

I had to put the Intel video shim in place in order to play. When I add the testing manifest the video error comes back again. When I swap back to the normal manifest, I can get in fine.  What's the test executable and where is it stored?  I'll need to create another shim in order to test.  Thanks!

I was going to go on the Beta server, and when I went to Options, selected the http://patch.savecoh.com/beta.xml option, and clicked OK, it started to download the manifest, but has repeatedly closed the Tequila window prior to the download completing.  I can now see the options for the Beta server in the Tequila window before it closes.  At this point, I can't load either the regular or the beta client.  Anyone have any idea what's going on or how to fix (or at least remove the beta loading option)?

Perhaps you could try altering the Beta manifest URL?

I had this issue the other day.  I had one instance of the game open and I was trying to open a second instance for my second account but Tequila kept on verifying and then closing before I could do anything.  I was able to catch it a few times to change the manifest, but the same thing would happen.

It auto-corrected after I completely logged out of the open instance and restarted my computer.

This may be a known issue, but Island Rum does not currently accept https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml as a valid manifest.

Here is what I have tried.
1. I opened Island Rum.
2. I clicked Settings, Manifest.
3. I entered https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml and then clicked "Add".
At this point, nothing happens. I cannot expand upon this problem because no error is displayed, no log is created, and the client does not show any indication that an additional manifest was added.

If I click the icon that displays the list of available manifests, the Beta manifest is not displayed as an option. Only the default Homecoming manifest is displayed.

This should be fixed, please try again.

I was also able to get it to work.  I incidentally restarted my computer before I read this.  In addition, I made sure that I had closed the regular HC 64-Bit instance that was up.  And then I loaded Tequila, and switched via the drop-down and it worked.  Thanks!

Can you all confirm you're using the up-to-date manifest? https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml, rather than one with beta.xml at the end.

Sorry for the late answer. I've been still using beta.xml and it worked again later.

Only with the latest wine-runner (Linux / Lutris) I can use https://manifest.cohhc.gg/testing.xml now. Before https encryption was not working but this was clearly an issue of my wine.
