Drkwolf222 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 With the upcoming XP boost purchases. and the lower Influence returns .. I think if could be good for us players that do like to take things slower to have the Opposite options available. Lower xp Higher Influence gains. SO a -25% xp + 25% Influence. -50%XP +50%Influence , ECT. I know you can play the market and make a mint but i do like to have the rewards for just going out and punching faces. and I often like to try and slow down to see all the content i can in an area.
brian9824 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 You can disable xp altogether, and you can exemplar down and join anyone and get double influence and no xp as well. So there are already options to accommodate that.

So there are already options to accommodate that. I don't think you get more influence if you disable XP, though, so there is only a teaming option for it. So, I'd like to see Inf boost being an item.
Mjolnerd Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 I like this idea. Especially with so many players (me) still being so cash-poor at the moment. Seconded! Formerly of Virtue, now on Excelsior: Ace of Spades | Adamant Eve | Arch-Rival | Armageddo | The Bee | Blackbelt | Citizen Arcane | Core | Ctrl Alt Defeat | Daddy Longlegs | Diamant | Doctor Roswell | Drop Dead Gorgeous | Galactrix | Great White Shark Heavy Machinery | Highway Star | The Howl | Inter-Galactica | Ion Maiden | Knockout Artist | Krakatoa | The Night's Templar | The Pact | Paroled McDonald | Sentinelle | Virtual Boy | Volcaniac | White Widow | Yucatan And my most recent 50, The Mother of Invention (Robotics/Traps mastermind, 9 December 2024)
brian9824 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 The problem is you get more influence by far by other methods. Farming merits is fast and is incredibly easy to get money. I get a few million that way and use it to pay for my toon while leveling and then sell off a few pieces of rare salvage as it drops. That will cover you 100% until you hit 50. So if your low on money just spend 1-2 hours doing a TF or an arc or two and your set
Adeon Hawkwood Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Or do the Summer Blockbuster Event. The enhancements from that are selling for a decent price. From an overall economic viewpoint I would advise against increasing inf gains since in the long run that just causes inflation. The price of things in the market is essentially determined by the ratio of inf to stuff. If you increase the amount of inf in the economy without also increasing the amount of stuff (i.e. recipe drops) then prices will start to rise. The original game had an economy that was actually relatively stable. Prices were somewhat high relative to native earning potential but they only really jumped up when new methods of farming were introduced (like AE) or when new items were introduced. We're not dealing with the same stockpile of inf so prices in general should be a bit lower but we'll have to wait for the economy to settle a bit more to see where things really end up. The admins have put in an infinite supply of fixed cost salvage which will also double as a minor inf sink so we should avoid inflation there but of course that means more inf will be spent on recipes so overall prices may not change that much. Defender Smash!

Haven't tried that content, how long is the event?
Adeon Hawkwood Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 I think it's about 45min or so but I haven't really timed it. One word of advice, you're limited to a four person team and have to fight a lot of AVs so you do need either decent damage dealing or someone who can halt an AVs regeneration (Radiation Emission or Traps are good there). I had one team where we had mostly support characters (and a sentinel) and were barely scratching the AV. I ended up swapping my Defender for my Blaster and the whole thing went a lot more smoothly. Defender Smash!
brian9824 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 I'll have to try that. Right now I just do a few Ouroboros arc farms and buy some items with the merits and sell them whenever I need money. Think I have around 20 mil scattered across all my alts and it only took me 2-3 hours to really farm it without even trying. Freak Olympics gives around 50 something merits and that can be converted into ~10-30 million influence pretty easily.
Razor Cure Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 The trouble with a free market is how stupidly GOOD farming is at making money..compared to anything else. Even a good lvl 50 incarnate team wont make as much as the hardcore farmer, fighting mobs of bosses, with the extra (so it seems) chances for great recipes vs the same bosses, bringing in even more money. That leads to big variations in what people are gonna be able and willing to pay. A friend of mine farms, and is totally cool with paying 5-10 per recipe for builds. That is for basically any 'good' IO set. Secondly, with enhancement converters, the 2nd tier IO sets, which are usually very good and desirable, end up getting snapped up by those same farmers, who can afford to pay way more than other people. Look at how cheap things like DocWounds and RedFortunes were on Live, before converters. You could get a full set of both for maybe 50k, if that. Now..quite often none will even be listed.
