I can find some info on Dual Blades for Scrappers, and certainly some stuff on /Ninjitsu secondaries.  But there seems to be only one or two threads on a DB/Ninjitsu scrapper,  and none of it really touches on any build information.

Is this a bad combo?  If not, can anyone offer a build as an example?  I can certainly cobble one together in MIDS from Katana/Ninjitsu and the various DB/Bio and DB/WP sets I've seen,   But I always learn from looking at what others have done before me.

Anyone have a build they can share?

Well I may as well do both then. This is something that should be able to take out most AVs.  More than enough recharge to spam Blinding Feint + Attack Vitals.  I think that may be the highest chain you can have.  Someone with more experience with DB or Werner with his knowledge of optimal chains may have found something better but this is still a solid chain.  Not that great on teams though as most of the damage is single target but if you can position yourself right you can get a few in the one cone it does have.  This is just an end game build and would not do well if you exemp down to low levels.

And this is a more all around build.  You lose some of the procs for -resist in the attack vitals combo and a little bit of recharge, but there is still enough to have perma hasten and spam Blinding Feint and Attack Vitals combo.  You also lose a little damage in Blinding Feint so it wont kill AVs solo as fast but should still do fine.   This build allows for the sweep combo to be used for more AoE and some mitigation with KD and is a bit more friendly when you exemp down.  Both have at least 1 open power pick as well.

Full disclosure, I have not run either of these so I do not know how well they will work first hand.  But I have used Ninja a bit with a TW/Ninja scrapper and either one of the builds should be fine and not have endurance issues.

On live, and I can only guess it's gotten better, I soloed AVs and the ITF without Incarnates, with just Blinding Feint > Attack Vitals > Repeat, with a DB/WP Scrapper.  It may not be the best DPS, but it was plenty.

Necro'ing my own post here.

So I just T4'd out my Alpha and Destiny (Agility and Ageless mainly for the +RECHARGE).  I'm going to post my build below.  For a scrapper, very durable.  Defense is 60% Melee and 55%+ for AOE and Ranged.   Resists are 75% S/L and 45-63% everything but Psi, which is 69% when Rune of Protection is up.  I thought about going with Shadow Meld but honestly didn't want to throw the extra slots at it so just kept Kuji-In Retsu with one slot (Scaling Resist proc) as my "oh crap" button.  Honestly, I don't think I've mashed it one time yet.  I just don't get hit often.

PVE content at highest setting is easy mode.  Stacking Defense Debuffs do hurt, but I don't really have issues with those either.  Have END under control and have really good Regen also.  Also threw the Kismet proc in the mix so that I can more reliably pull off combo's even against +4's.

But I still feel like my damage output could be better.  I basically use the Attack Vitals chain more than anything else.  On AV's that's pretty much all I use in fact.  I had Thousand Cuts but respecc'ed out of it.  Looks badass but really long animation for what damage it actually does.

Anyone have any tips on ways to get my DPS up a bit more?  I suppose I could actually lose some +DEF and still be OK, but I liked overbuilding on DEF since my DefDebuff resistance isn't the same as SR.

BTW, this is my first time playing this combo.  Flashy and fun like Dual Pistols, but I've enjoyed it more.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Necroing since I just noticed my name. That is indeed a solid chain, what I might even call the standard DPS chain for Dual Blades, but yes, there is better:

Blinding Feint -> Ablating Strike -> Sweeping Strike -> Ablating Strike

You need Blinding Feint to recharge in 3.828 seconds, which takes +214% recharge (edit: +314% due to Ablating Strike, thank you @Redlynne). Put an Achilles' Heel resistance debuff in Ablating Strike.

I believe credit goes to @Shred Monkey as the first person to figure it out? Hopefully my old fart memory isn't failing me, but this is what I think I remember. It was back before we knew about Arcanatime, and so this chain would have been thought to require an impossible amount of recharge. But he trusted that the tiny delays he was seeing in attacks firing off was something real, part of the game mechanics. He made a guess about how that would affect required recharge, making an "impossible" recharge chain actually possible. Then he proceeded to solo AVs faster than anyone thought Dual Blades was capable of, and by not publishing the build, we were left to wonder how it was possible for him to pull off that chain. Not to mention that it was some of the very first AV soloing using Scrapper Challenge rules. Very impressive stuff.

Give the above chain a try. Get an unslotter, stick in an Achilles' Heel, and see how it works for you. You probably don't want to give up 6% smashing/lethal resistance, but it's an easy way to try it out since you have the recharge. If you like it enough better, then fiddle with the build until you're back to where you want to be.

Blinding Feint -> Ablating Strike -> Sweeping Strike -> Ablating Strike

You need Blinding Feint to recharge in 3.828 seconds, which takes +214% recharge.

Blinding Feint: 1.2 anim / 1.452s arcana | 12s base recharge

Ablating Strike: 1.03s anim / 1.188s arcana | 6s base recharge

Sweeping Strike: 1.23s anim / 1.452s arcana | 11s base recharge

Time between Blinding Feints = 1.188+1.452+1.188 = 3.828s

12 / 3.828 = +213.48% total recharge

Time between Ablating Strikes = 1.452s

6 / 1.452 = +313.22% total recharge

So there will be *some* gaps in the attack chain when repeated on the Ablating Strikes, but if it gives you "enough" Resistance Debuffing potential to magnify damage into a single $Target that you can take down an AV ... that's hardly a complaint.

Whoops. Sorry for the miscalculation on required overall recharge. Thank you for the correction. Hopefully the below calculations aren't also flawed.

Ablating has +123.53%, global is +132.5%, so a factor of 3.5603 + Ageless. And I'm pretty sure gaps follow Arcanatime as well since it's based on some sort of server tick? So here are the gaps over the course of an Ageless cycle.

First 10: 6/(3.5603+.7)=1.408, gapless
Next 20: 6/(3.5603+.3)=1.554, one-tick gap, 0.132 seconds
Next 30: 6/(3.5603+.2)=1.596, two-tick gap, 0.264 seconds
Next 60: 6/(3.5603+.1)=1.639, two-tick gap, 0.264 seconds

And you get two of those gaps since you're using Ablating twice. I'd want to get that down to the first 30 gapless, next 90 one-tick. Factor of 2.2353+x. So for the first 30 I want 6/(2.5353+x)=1.452, 6=4.0159152+1.452x, 1.452x=1.9840848, x=1.3664..., so we need 137% global recharge instead of 132.5%. Need to check the next 90 seconds too, 6/(2.3353+x)=1.584, 6=3.6991152+1.584x, 1.584x=2.3008848, x=1.452..., so +146% recharge. Tougher. OK, so what does the 137% buy us after the first 30? Factor is 2.2353+1.37=3.6053. Next 30 seconds is 6/(3.6053+.2)=1.576 is still a one-tick gap, but the two ticks for the next 60 seconds. Anyway, I'd probably target 137% or 146%.

But all that said, and maybe I should have done this math instead, I suspect it's still the best chain, even with the current gaps. But it's easy to test in the actual build rather than all this theorycraft. Use an unslotter to swap in an Achilles heel. Run Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals on a pylon. Run the proposed chain on a pylon. See which is faster. And if you can handle all the "still recharging" sounds. 😉

Now if you really wanted to go all out on single target, there are ways to have only a single tick gap....without Agility...or Ageless.  140% global, without Hasten. Gives up a little defense and ranged options for more damage and recharge but still over soft cap.  Makes me now wonder how fast is Moonbeam with the snipe changes?
