Experimenting with Dark/Atomic

So, tooling around and looking at my next project I thought I would try to make a Dark/Atomic blaster and capitalize on the single target holds in each line.  My plan was to put in one accuracy IO and then 5 slot procs into each and then use moonbeam (snipe) to round out the single target rotation. Below I will list the builds I came up with, If any of you would give me some tips for stream lining the builds that would be awesome.  

 

So I got to work in Mids and did okay, made three build choices. 

 

First build is with 44.6% melee and smashing and lethal at 49% defenses.   I chose this one to actually make and it is working pretty nice in game.  With this one, I stealth run into a patch of mobs, hit blackstar and then use above single target chain and finish of the LTs/bosses.  For Abyssal Gaze I use the Noir animation as it is much faster, but it and Positron Cell proc very consistently and hit like a truck with the added benefit of the hold.

The Second build I wanted to soft cap ranged defense, which I did at 46% and I tried to get S/L defense capped but couldn't figure out how to do both so they are at 38%, but as a side product Energy is at 51% and Negative energy is at 42%.  This would still have basically the same play style, but as I am finding myself (especially solo) more at range help with, well, surviving at range.  Blackstar takes care of surviving in melee so I am really thinking about moving to a ranged defense build.

My last build, I just focused on ranged defense getting it soft capped and then raised some of my smashing and lethal resistance to 37%.  This build gives some extra utility with maintaining the single target focus.  I can use Tentacles and torrent as cone To-hit debuffs.  Lowering To-hit by 44% and torrent giving some mob positional utility.  Also, gives me a decent PBAOE damage to chain with blackstar.  I am thinking of switching to this build as I like the idea of the utility.

If anyone would care to dig through these and give some feed back that would be great.  Like I said I am currently using the first build, but am looking hard at the third build.

I switched to the third build and it is much better.  Adding the utility to the build really helped me solo.  The triple Holds really help solo and on teams.  Single target I am a beast but with the current meta in teams, I don't feel as helpful as a more AOE blaster.  BS is good of course and use Atom Smasher as well, but with the GO GO GO GO mentality of the current game its kinda meh.  Love this combo though with the Procs so he is a keeper that I will continue to play.

Do you ever miss Negatron Slam or Positronic Fist? I know those are two of the harder hitters in Atomic Manip, especially with the gamma mechanic. Just curious what sort of playstyle this might be best suited for. I'm interested in Dark/Atomic, but I also like blapping, so...
