Homecoming Code of Conduct Updates - March 7th, 2020

More clarification and context on the video policies would be appreciated, this blanket ban on video content seems very vague and as you can tell from the comments here more details and nuance is needed. Also if this was always a concern you really should have made this change well before now. Your killing several communities that have emerged to celebrate and promote your server, I get it, but you either want to be available to the public or not, the fact that this is being done with no warning or consultation of the streaming community is sad.

As a side note did you run the PI farm last night on Everlasting?

Also Homecoming's biggest issue is lack of transparency, I appreciate what they're trying to do, but their lack of transparency is frustrating

no sorry that was not me, i dont play HC anymore really only to try out the new stuff and see what its like.

I hate to be that guy, but i am going to be that guy because i feel it is important to say, if you want people to follow a set of rules and guidelines by pretending to be official, wouldn't it be fair to show how deep in talks you are? i mean its all well and good to have rules in place i get that but what about people like Positive Gmaer who makes videos based on your server? his income may be affected now, what about proof of being in talks? you make claims of "legitimizing" the server and yet you have not given the playerbase any kind of honesty or truth to these claims, i am just being devils advocate and would like a reply about this as it seems you enforce more rules to people who play on your server without giving anything back to the players.

Without giving anything back to the players?  How about the fact that they provide a second chance to play a long dead game completely free of charge?

Come on folks!  Are we so used to the idea of CoH being back, that we now take it for granted, and want things that might be contrary to their efforts to make it permanent?  The lack of faith demonstrated about their efforts is a little jarring, considering they've always been as transparent, and forthcoming as they can be within a legal framework, and never did anything to violate anyone's trust along the way.

We are all in this together, and we can either do what's necessary to help see it through, or we can do things that potentially put the process in jeopardy.

I'll be the first to stand in line for calling for greater lines of communication between the Homecoming Team and this community.  I've posted to such effect in numerous threads, and I still believe some greater clarity in various subjects is sorely needed.

I'd just like to remind everyone, though, that given the situation, Jimmy might just be a messenger boy in this current situation.

Y'all need some experience in dealing with business contracts. I mean, I'm just a corporate sysadmin, and even I know there's stuff you just can't blurt out.

I understand that, but like from my knowledge we haven't heard anything in a while about this, and then the next thing we know we can't create content on the server anymore.

I'm not saying leak corporate secrets but.......I mean from our stand point it seems like the staff is ignoring us

From a slightly more "insider" point of view, Icybubba, I see this more as a slow and methodical strangulation on the part of ncsoft.  But then, I'm bitter from years of similar experiences in from other corporate entities in the games industry.

Over on the CoRP Discord we had a whole conversation on the new "Everyone is a SIgnature NPC" name issue with Jimmy... Who said he would relay our concerns to the others for discussion. Based on what he posted here today? They ignored every bloody thing we said.

Well, I will say I'd not be surprised if Hero Corps or The Dawn Patrol got a little upset at this.

You would actually be quite wrong.  We aren't Hero Corps.  We are and always have been the Founders Falls branch of Hero Corps.  We've always been in compliance of this new rule with the possible exception of our SG name.

Problem though, they aren't the only server out there, the more they tighten their grip with rules the more people will slip through their fingers.

Rules aren't inherently bad, but when you don't give players updates, and when you do it's to tell us we can't participate in an integral part of the community?

Like I said, just a corporate sysadmin, but I've had enough first-hand experience at how long its taken for franchise or buyout agreements to complete even at the stage where you're involving the sysadmin.

The talks have been going on for 8 years now, i dont care if these are "new talks" or not, no information has been passed, if the old talks didnt work after 7 years then these wont, we are allowed to be upset about rules on a server that suddenly just come out of the blue when they were all happy for Positive Gamers videos and other youtubers making videos promoting the server, now they are left in the dark, and not one of you have even given that a seconds thought, only defending this ridiculous rule.

im not one to blindly just follow someone who says they are in talks, im not in any way shape or form knowledgable about the legal aspects of this, but that doesnt i cannot be upset for those whose income was purely based on this server.

Wow... i just wanted to start streaming this awesome game.
Thats bs...

Same here. How frustrating. If I play then I like to stream in the background. My streams are just me playing random pick up groups either joining or leading. I dont do any voice over or video edits. I like to have the ability to rewatch my gameplay on demand by video and to share with others. I've just restarted streaming my gameplay recently and I think it made the game more enjoyable to me. CoH is basically a chatroom itself. I don't expect the ability to lose out on streaming to be any benefit.. It's not like I profit off these videos. It's more of sharing my screen.

i find it funny that HC or certain people associated with HC hid the server for 7 years saying F You to NCSoft, then got leaked, and now all of a sudden trying to be "legal" about it but then letting NCSoft strangle the ploayerbase again, does not make sense at all.

I find it funnier that certain people go all Pepe Silva whenever HC is discussed.

i made a legitimate argument against their rules, dont insult me just because you have nothing relevant to the discussion, or the fact that you cant discuss the matter in a civilised manner.

Really?  Since you don't know exactly what the possible terms of this agreement would be, you can't really render any informed opinion on it.  But, it's clear the very idea is something you don't like, and that's fine.  But, please don't make it appear that you have some inside information that invalidates this whole process, and that we are all sheep for not feeling the same.

I find it funny that someone who just stated in this thread that he doesn't play on this server any more is on such a crusade to defend the players.

All I know is that Positive Gamer just announced on his Discord that he'll most likely be moving to another server, I suspect that he won't be the only content creator to do that

Rules exist everywhere in life folks.  You can agree with them, or not.  But, if you choose to violate them, you do so knowing the consequences.  There is nothing draconian here, and certainly nothing that keeps people from playing.  99% of players will go on doing what they do unaffected by all this.  But, for the ones that just can't abide, there are alternatives.
