Solarverse Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 (edited) The new rule states, Video Policy "Whilst Homecoming is still undergoing efforts to become a legitimate operation, live broadcasts or uploads of gameplay footage are not permitted." I have been known to sometimes record bugs and post them up in the bug report section. Are things like this still permitted or is that going to be frowned upon at this time? There was a new bug I found, but did not want to record until I found this information out. Also, I thought about recording two powers blended together in order to put a new animation idea up on the suggestion forums. Obviously if question A is no, then I know the answer to this question as well, however, if the answer is yes, then I think this one rides a thin blue line. So would also like to know if this would be permitted as well. Thanks in advanced. Bopper Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I asked your question on discord but haven't received feedback yet. I believe you should simply state in the bug report that you have video if needed, then PM a dev with your video when they request it. 3 PPM Information Guide Survivability Tool Interface DoT Procs Guide Time Manipulation Guide Bopper Builds +HP/+Regen Proc Cheat Sheet Super Pack Drop Percentages Recharge Guide Base Empowerment: Temp Powers Bopper's Tools & Formulas Mids' Reborn
Without_Pause Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 If I wanted to do recorded video for a bug, I wouldn't post it unless they wanted confirmation and then I wouldn't list it in your Youtube channel if that indeed is what you used. Detailed info via a description should be enough. I wouldn't touch a video for suggestions. That's way too much poking the bear for my sake. Snarky Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 pretty sure you are looking at one thing and talking about another you would take the documentation and send it to a GM after getting in contact with one and if the documentation was video, in that case with direct send it is private almost 100% positive they are stating do not post CoH stuff for friends or general public to have access to. maybe you could send it to one, just one, person and violate the letter but not the spirit of the rule because basically there are saying do not put this stuff out into the www
Game Master GM Crumpet Posted March 16, 2020 Game Master Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) Sadly recording of videos of the game are not permitted at this time, even if it's with the best intentions. If and/or when the policy is changed then obviously we will let you know, but for the moment it's a big no-no. Edited March 16, 2020 by GM Crumpet

That's not what the rule states though, it says live broadcasts and uploading of videos, nothing about recording on our personal computers. The Trevor Project
City Council Jimmy Posted March 16, 2020 City Council Posted March 16, 2020 Yep, just to clarify, it's the uploading / streaming of recordings that's an issue. You can record for your own personal use though (or for uploading once the restriction has been lifted). 4 Got time to spare? Want to see Homecoming thrive? Consider volunteering as a Game Master!
quixoteprog Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Is this being enforced, though? I'm pretty sure I have seen posted videos on YouTube of people playing the game, as well as people live streaming game play.

It's in the other thread, but Jimmy mentioned this is effective going forward. So it's my understanding that they won't be bothering with existing uploaded videos, I assume because that would be a massive undertaking. The Trevor Project

It's my interpretation that the recent clarification of the policy was meant to say, "Hey guys... we all know the rules and their intent, so this is your warning. Please self-police and we won't have to do anything nobody wants us to do." Sakai Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I am glad they aren't messing with existing videos. I am going to spend some of my unexpected holiday building a base I think.

There are a few issues here. 1) Homecoming can take no actions via YouTube, Twitch or any other such service as they do not own the IP. NCSoft would have to act. 2) The only thing HC can do is take action against the perpetrator's account. 3) *IF* they can identify the miscreant. On a side note, streaming content from an unlicensed servers is against the ToS of most or all streaming services, so they're already breaking the service's rules. But, again, HC can't do anything from that angle. Originally on Infinity. Videos posted prior to that date are not in violation of the policy.

I'm sure the only real consequence that would occur would be that Homecoming would lose their legitimacy. @Super Whatsit Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475" It's all a Nemesis plot.
