F@H Registration Issues If you're having problems with the web client after installation and you use Windows, you can use the desktop client to register as well: After installation, go to your tray and right-click on the icon, then click on Advanced Control Click on Configure in the top left Select the Identity tab Unfortunately I have no experience with Folding@Home on a Mac, but I would assume that they also have their own desktop client in some form.   Als

I have recieved the following message:

 

"Folding@home Disconnected

The Folding@home software on your computer has most likely stopped.

Please restart it, then reload this page."

 

How do I do that? The only Folding@Home icon I see does nothing but take me to the website.

Quick question about the folding at home client. Is there a way to make the client only use my GPU for folding? Whenever I run it, it jumps my CPU running temp from about 38C to over 80C in less than 10 minutes. I know I have an issue with my #2 chassis fan not running up to speed, but I don't think that would help. I ran the client with my chassis open and another fan blowing into it and it was still  making the temp jump upwards of 75C before I paused it again. Any help will be appreciated.
***EDIT*** I figured out that you can open the advanced control page and right click on the CPU to pause just that.

Congratulations to all the winners!

 

on the sad side - I blew a capacitor on (I think) my motherboard... at least that high pitched whining sure SOUNDED like a cap going.  (yes, I *KNOW* most people can't hear pitches that high, but I have always been able to - and no 'dog' jokes; I already know I am not attractive! 😉 )

 

So I am out 😞 

... well, unless this all goes on FAR longer than we all want it to!  Got to baby what is limping along on my rig and can't be running it continuously (or hot - it is already shutting down quite often by itself) while I somehow save up funds for upgrade/repair.

I'm curious who's HC_Attribution.  I guess he started around late last month and is rising fast. 

I was poking around the:  https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=243287
and noticed him a couple of weeks ago when he had a 3-digits '7 days Change' jump in ranks.  Now he's going to be on the 1st page before the end of today.  It's kind of exciting because he's doing almost 50% more points/week than me and I expect him to be directly chasing down my butt by the middle of next month!  😅

I'm slowly edging closer to the top 50! Sitting at 56 right now, after starting somewhere around 107. Admittedly, much of my "rise" has been due to people ahead of me apparently dropping out. I've just kept chugging away, 2 WUs at a time on my gaming machine (I leave the folding going all the time, even when playing), and my old iMac working away at another WU.
