Fire/Earth Dominator Build - the beast mode scraptroller featuring buckets of damage and softcap defenses

It is not good to proc them out, in most cases. Usually you dont' get more damage than you would from just damage IOs, and while you could max them out on damage and then add damage procs, it's hard to max them out and get Accuracy and Endurance Red and still have proc slots left over.

Some exceptions: auras that knockdown are good places for Force Feedback.

+ToHit procs are good, because like Force Feedback they just have to trigger once on a single mob, so if you're fighting in a spawn when the 10-second proc timer goes off, you have a good chance to get the bonus.

I've been thinking to do a Fire/Earth proc-focused build since it's very tricky to pull off and keep enough survival (e.g. defense).  I finally settled on the build herein, but I sacrificed defense.  That said, most things should be locked down either disoriented, knocked down, or held outright.  Couple that with (while soloing) many kills fairly quickly, and the insp tray fills, so I'll convert/use purples as necessary.

Earth Assault procs out nicely, especially Seismic Smash.  Proc'd out it is twice the damage output as a full set of Hectomb (purples) - I usually compare to 6-slotted purple, as a best-case scenario for damage slotting w/o proc-monstering it.

Tremor and Fissure are not as great proc'd out (quick AoE's rarely are); however, it's enough to put a +rech in them and play the +rech lotto.  The other thing with those two powers, and Bonfire (which also isn't great proc'ing as it's a pseudo-pet) is that they should have the KB-KD sudden acceleration IO, just to keep things in the damage aura/area.

I normally go Scorpion Shield for the nice S/L/E defense, but it is hard to pass up on Sleet, and Frozen Armor is OK.  I thought about taking Hibern00b instead of SS at 49, but if I have to hibernate, I'm likely not doing something right; plus SS allows full stealth when combined with Sprint/Stealth IO.  Also SS allows for the slow resist proc, and SJ can then have a KB protection proc.  So that's something.

Heavy Mallet and Seismic Smash are proc-monsters.  Probably some of the best single target attacks possible with Dominators.  Mids shows 450dps and 673dps, respectively.  By comparison, Heavy Mallet with 6 Mako's is 378 (vs. 450), and Seismic Smash with 6 Hecatomb's is 554 (vs. 673).  So a decent bump.

I had a nice proc'd out Hurl Boulder, but dropped it for Hot Feet.  Endurance is fairly manageable, I use a lot of +Max End and +Recovery when I can.  I was able to achieve a 3:1 ratio of Recovery:Consumption (toggles, etc) so that leaves a decent amount for the endurance-hungry sets of fire and earth.  Incarnate will be easier (either Cardiac and/or Ageless).

Bonfire does KB normally so you want an IO to change that, but both Tremor and Fissure do 0.67 scale KB, so they don't have to be changed to KD with an IO, allowing you to put something else instead for more damage.

Yeah, I knew about Bonfire (needing KB-KD) and Tremor (not needing it), but did not realize Fissure was also 0.67 mag KB.  Thanks for the info!

Ooops, it's on the alternate (flipped) slotting in the build, but I should have caught that for the export!

Just to note... Seismic Smash does enough damage that a damage IO in it adds more to damage than a standard damage proc, until the damage slotting starts running into ED constraints.

That's why I'm going with 3 Peroxisomes (makes the Hold duration amazing) plus 3 damage procs... but if you really wanted max damage, go with 4 damage procs, 1 Hecatomb Damage, and 1 level 50 damage IO if your global Accuracy is good enough, and replace the last with a Nucleolus if you need Accuracy slotting in it.

The max damage setup shows as about 740 for me (without an Alpha slot activated).

I saw one fire/stone dominator at work.

It certainly has damage throughput.  Mobs melting in situ whist the stone attacks brutalise them with punishing rock melee.

But that's fire for you.  On anything.

I hit 50 with my build posted earlier and it's a lot of fun, but you do have to watch your endurance carefully

I'm a little tired of imps dying all the time (when playing +4 at least) so I'm thinking about respec'ing in the OP build and give it a try.

I hadn't used Ice Mastery since live, I tend to use the patron pools a lot, so it was a nice change

I wanted to bump this thread. I was away from the game for a month or two but came back and have been leveling a Fire/Earth Dom. It's been pretty great. I just hit 50, so I'm still having some endurance issues (IOs have helped a bit, but I still run dry if I don't throttle myself), so I'm looking forward to getting Destiny unlocked to help endurance recovery. The damage is great and the incoming damage, now that I've got some defense, is usually manageable.

I went with the petless build. Mine's more or less the same as the build in the first post of this thread, though sans purple sets, which I've subbed out for nearest equivalent recharge bonuses. Still working on collecting a few sets (I don't have my ATOs yet and I need a few more procs to put in some empty slots), but its been really fun to play. I can't get enough of crunchy earth assault attacks.

Incarnates I used

  • Alpha - T4 Intuition Radial (right side).  Musculature is a good alternative
  • Interface - T3 Reacitve Radial (right side) or T4 Degenerative Core (Left Side)
  • Destiny - T4 Ageless Core (left side)
  • Hybrid - T4 Assault Radial (Both sides are good though)

In regards to the alpha. Why did you go with Intuition I mean Musculature or agility seems a better idea imo. This is not criticism I just want to see what your perspective is. Looking at your build I took Maneuvers out of leadership and replaces with Hoarfrost and added agility its basically the same buff. Any thoughts?

Agility will kill your proc rates.

Intuition has hold duration and damage.

Musculature has only a little bit more damage to offer.

Hey Horny. Do you have this build updated for the last MIDs?

Or this build still strong even with these last changes in powers?

I do not use this character often and is not set up for procs or even ideal defense as it is melee instead of ranged but the resistance is good and mobs still melt fairly quickly
