Ok, so I may have reached peak insanity.  I have started a AR/TA Corruptor.

 

My idea was using Ignite and Oil Slick in tandem to create a double fire field, because some people want to watch the world burn.

 

Has anyone else done this?  If so what was you build?  This is my preliminary power pick.  I may or may not switch out Web Cocoon with Focused Accuracy to try and get Sniper Shot to instant.  Unless of corse that would be a waste.

Why would you consider ar/ta nuts? I Play a TA/AR defender and it's a solid, very sought-after build for ITF's and trials.

First things first: Snipe doesn't work that way anymore. The first shot when you are not engaged in combat is always slow, max damage. every other shot after you have engaged is fast, lower damage (but still a lot of set's best single-target attack)

If You'd like I guess I could swap my build to corrupter. Your power picks are... kinda icky though. skipping poison arrow, with it's 33% damage debuff? Assault and tactics without bothering with maneuvers? Web cocoon with TA? Looks more like a controller.

Poison Gas Arrow is a must, it's your only real form of damage mitigation before level 35, and even after that it's your only reliable one (even built for massive recharge, my TA/A has OSA/EMP up 2 out of 3 mobs)

What this team needs is more Defenders

Well I did create this when I was a bit short on sleep and hyped up on allergy medication, so my reason was questionable at best at that moment.

 

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.  I'll definitely be putting Poison Gas back into my build. And I do play a lot of Controllers (even made a Earth/TA) so sometimes I feel the need to make sure nothing moves when doing ranged builds, hence the Web Cocoon.  But maybe it is a bit overkill so I'll take it out and Focused Accuracy since they changed snipe.

 

Does this look any better?  Also I wouldn't mind seeing your Def build if you don't mind.  Though at this point I am not looking at IO sets right now.

Yeah... Umm...corrupters really don't need to control everything... or anything, really. What you need to do is restrict their MOVEMENT, when they are on oil slick and/or ignite.
 

Your most important tool will be glue arrow, because it restricts their movement and tends to funnel them towards you. Assault rifle is all about the cones, so Ideally you need something to STOP them in perfect formation for a cone... so why not another cone?

Enter Leviathan mastery. It has exactly what you need, a cone immobilize, and is the only corrupter ancillary that HAS a mass immobilize, and it has a nice, long duration to it. You don't want to hold your enemy, that's for sominators and controllers, you want to END them as quickly as possible. And your idea of stacked oil slick/ignite is absolutely the way to do that... IF you can keep them close enough together, and IF you can keep them from running out of the patch... the brutal scourge near the end of it will shred everything except bosses, and even bosses will take huge damage and likely some nasty scourge ticks.

That being said, you can stack immobilize from school of sharks and entangling arrow TO keep one, possibly two bosses in your death zone. But again, you are a corrupter, not a controller.

What you need is enough ranged def and resistance to handle the return fire easily. Enough recharge to keep up with a steamroll easily or to create your own solo steamroll, and enough st damage to handle loose mobs.

This is sort of a levelling setup. It is VERY hard to create a build without knowing what you are going to slot in, so I created a level 25 'level up' build for you to work for. If you like it, I will work up the full total build for eventuals...but ya gotta work with what you can 🙂

Okay, I did it early.

By level 40 you should have already done several SBB's, and finished banging out your ATO's... you know you will pull them out and rearrange in your 50's build, but splitting up scourging blast is EXTREMELY attractive for a corrupter...

Getting and installing some cheap sets can get you to a solid, workmanlike 20% ranged defense, and 15% to most other stuff. It's nothing to write home about, but you can afford to start slotting a few things that will help you through your 40's. By 37, you should definitely have enough IO's to replace the old SO's you had at 25, and your power will be much greater.

Some cheap(er) sets, some of the procs that will last you for the rest of the game, and keep your health and endurance up reasonably well... although you are NOT a kinetic, you can actually kill stuff faster and a single purple should keep you happy if you have to engage groups. Plus, you have 50% recharge already without having to waste precious (at this level) powers or slots on a hasten that will only be up around half the time.

Plus, you can do your patron arc, and at 41 you get school of sharks... Your glue->slick->ignite is already something that will make you forget you even wanted a tier 9 attack, but school of sharks ALSO makes three quarters of the spawn just stand there and take it while still bouncing.

Start saving up merits or cash for ragnaroks and frozen blast: chance to immobilize. those will make ignite far more brutal. You still want to team though, tankers make decent doorstops.
