Tri-form Style WarShade

Recommended Posts

Here is Nikki Style's background:
Nikki was captured while walking home from school and was taken to Dark Astoria to be sacrificed. Style, a nictus, was sleeping in a crystal nearby. Style was awoken by Nikki's pain. Style destroyed the cultists. Nikki had been seriously wounded before Style arrived. To save Nikki's life, Style merged his life force with Nikki's. This is how the Warshade, Nikki Style, was born.

Nikki Style is approaching level 50 so she has been designing an end game build for herself.

Role - Nikki Style runs a Tri-form build. The human form is mostly for buffing and travel. Dark Nova is the primary DPS form (pew pew). Black Dwarf is mostly used when incoming damage or mezzes are too strong and Nikki needs more survivability. The Black Dwarf Mire will also be used for buffing. Nikki will probably use Human and Dark Nova most of the time and Black Dwarf will be used more situationally. All three forms are pretty much fully slotted out, though.

Build Focus - Nikki Style focused on Recharge and Defense. She was able to get a respectible 158.75% Recharge. Hasten is 6 seconds short of perma which doesn't seem too bad. Eclipse is perma and Nikki should have three Extracted Essences out most of the time. When Nikki runs into the mob in human form with her toggles on she has 45.4% Melee Defense and 42.9% S/L Defense. This should allow Nikki to buff up in safety before switching forms. When Nikki is in her forms she has 39.1% Melee Defense and 36.6% S/L Defense. This defense should reduce a lot of incoming damage and is easily soft cappable with a small purple.

Tid Bits - Between Shadow Cloak, Super Speed, and the Celerity Stealth IO Nikki has many options for stealthing missions or entering mobs unseen before unleashing buff powers and attacks.
- Nikki took Unchain Essence, Quasar, Inky Aspect, and Gravity Shield for running with quick moving teams. This will allow Nikki to stay in Human form more often than normal to avoid the delays form switching and toggling back up. Hopefully these powers can create something of an attack chain when combined with the other Human powers like Gravity Well, Gravitic Emanation, Sunless Mire, etc.
- Nebulous form is a nice panic button to get Nikki out of a tough spot. Nikki can then use Stygian Return when she forgets to use Nebulous form......ahem *cough* Happens more than you would think.
- Burnout seems like a nice way to get an extra Extracted Essence out before a tough fight.....or as many as possible all the time. Long recharging powers will benefit from Burnout as well. Nikki is still figuring out when it is most beneficial to use Burnout.
- Ebon Eye and Dark Nova Bolt are only there if you need a filler attack (slows/exempting). These powers are unslotted. The primary powers have enough Recharge that attack chains should be full in normal situations. I.e. the three big Dark Nova attacks have enough recharge they should have no trouble filling out an unbroken attack chain.

Drawbacks - Most of Nikki's powers have very little Endurance Discount. Hopefully, Nikki will have enough Endurance recovery that Stygian Circle can wait until after the mob is subdued (arrested). Nikki is worried that she may have to drop into human form to use Stygian Circle mid-fight or risk running out of Endurance. This can be mitigated by selecting Agility Core Paragon which increased Endurance Discount, Recharge (always useful), and Defense. Since almost all of Nikki's defense comes from set bonuses, she won't benefit much from the Defense portion of this Incarnate power, though.
- Nikki has done nothing to fill the Psionic Resistance hole. To get much benefit Nikki would have to dedicate a quite a few slots to achieve significant Psionic Resistance. Also, almost no effort was put into Mez Resistance either.
- Slots are always tight on a Warshade build. Nikki would have liked to fit in more Procs. A couple of Force Feedback procs would have been helpful, plus a few damage procs could strenthen the damage output. If Nikki moved the slots out of Brawl this would reduce her Defense but give her the chance to slot in some procs or to have the flexibility to move some IO sets around.
- Only a couple of powers were able to take advantage of franken-slotting. Nikki's focus on Recharge and Defense forced many powers to use most of the slots to get a set bonus instead of maximizing the power's stats.

Below is the build Nikki is working towards. If you see major errors or opportunities for improvement, please leave her a comment. Nikki is interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Purely for endurance, it’s Panacea > Perf Shift proc > Miracle > Numinas.  Not sure about a second slot in health (with either Miracle or Numinas) versus a second one in stamina. I’ve always done Perf Shift Proc/Perf Shift % plus Panacea. Might want to look at adjustments there in light of your concerns.

Also, Ebon Eye does more damage than Nova Blast on this server, supposedly (never looked it that closely as I have them evenly slotted).

In my opinion, the minimum slotting is 3 in Health and 3 in Stamina.

Health
Panacea - +Hit Points/Endurance: Level 10
Miracle - +Recovery: Level 20
Numina's Convalesence - +Regeneration/+Recovery: Level 30

Stamina
Synapse's Shock - EndMod
Synapse's Shock - EndMod/Run Speed
Performance Shifter - Chance for +End

Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.

Set Bonus Totals:

  • 27.5% DamageBuff(Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative, Toxic, Psionic)
  • 110% Enhancement(RechargeTime)

So I've been working on my Hasten-less Tri-form Warshade evolution and the above two set bonuses jumped out at me.  Reason why I say that is because I've managed to shoehorn +33.5% Damage and +120% global recharge into the build I'm making ... so it's really interesting to see how close you are to the performance profile my build (that I haven't posted yet) is throughput-ing once everything comes together.  Really nice thing is that (on my build) it only takes 4 Force Feedback procs within 90s to perma Eclipse without needing Hasten to "close the gap" ... and there's a Force Feedback proc in Human, Nova and Dwarf forms, so it's not like you need to be in a particular form to score those 4 procs to make that happen.

Anyway, I only mention because my build might interest you ... assuming I can ever find the time to aggregate everything I'll need to get it posted.

In my opinion, the minimum slotting is 3 in Health and 3 in Stamina.

Health
Panacea - +Hit Points/Endurance: Level 10
Miracle - +Recovery: Level 20
Numina's Convalesence - +Regeneration/+Recovery: Level 30

Stamina
Synapse's Shock - EndMod
Synapse's Shock - EndMod/Run Speed
Performance Shifter - Chance for +End

Ehhh on peacebringers maybe. But Stygian Circle pretty much means I don't have to worry about end. So can afford to lose a slot each to go somewhere else. And on a triform thost extra slots are like gold.

Only if there are corpses to drain.  There are some enemy groups that feature mobs that leave no corpses (either they explode or simply fade away) ... to say nothing of needing to fight an AV after clearing the entire map so there's nothing else to draw upon for Stygian Circle.  There are going to be times when you can't rely on Stygian Circle to carry you through.  Best to have a backup plan for those occasions.

I'm not sold on the Synapse's unique, myself. It doesn't apply to Nova form. It doesn't do much in Human given that I super speed in human. Dwarf sees some benefit, but I'm very comfortable teleporting and find that to be a better way to move.

My backup plan is Catch a Breaths, honestly. The times that I do see my endurance majorly dip are due to eclipse/mire/quasar opens (which chain to Stygian other than in the situations previously mentioned) or cycling powers in dwarf at full rotation for over 4 minutes straight (without Endurance support, which is kinda rare).

Good point, but I've never really noticed even in those types of situations; with the two in health and two stamina I'm good. Better to save the slots elsewhere where Tri-forms desperately need it.

The good thing is tri forms can be built in multiple ways. So my respect to your build options, and agree to disagree and move on. 🙂

Yeah Perf Shift, Panacea, and Miracle should cover you enough. That adds 0.675 end per second for the cost of 1 slot. For the cost of 4 slots, you get less than half of that additionally (about 0.4). You can decide how much those 3 additional slots are worth.

As I wrote in Discord:

so I figured it out and Ebon Eye should show as 112.24 in Mids in Nova form, and 44.48 in Human
Meanwhile, Dark Nova Blast does 96.76.
