What happened to Dynamic mode? I downloaded the new Release and now everything's messed up. I can't get my previous characters to load and Dynamic mode is missing. Someone help me please!

Do you mean that double clicking on a MDX file won't load it into Mids?  If so i have the same issue.  File >> Open works ok.  But double clicking doesn't or downloading and open in mids doesn't either.  I have to use File >> open or open the MDX in a plain text editor like NotePad++ and then copy the hex values and them import from forum.    Regarding Dynamic mode, there is "Respec" mode that is pretty freeform.   I don't remember what that does exactly.  But i have noticed that you have to have the Tab on the side on the "Info" tab to be able to add and remove slots.  if you have it on the "Totals" tab then you can't add or remove lots.

I noticed that the font on Pools column isn't properly following the Bold check mark in settings.  If I enable it, it doesn't change to bold until I mouse over each power in that column.  Each time I resize the window it will lose the bold property again until I mouse over it.  I only noticed because I'm trying to make the font more readable on my machine as the defaults are too thin and blurry compared the older version of the program I was using.  (Windows 10 with Clear Type disabled)  Any chance we can get the option to pick our own fonts?

I need to redo all of my old character files thanks to the all the patch changes since I last played, so I haven't noticed anything else yet.

i had this problem, and had to fix my Open with... and point to the new version.  under c:\Users\%me%\appdata\roaming\RebornTeam there were 2 installs one with "Mids Reborn" and one "MidsReborn". i deleted the older one without the space and then right-clicked on a .mxd file and "Open With"/"Choose another app" and picked the right .exe.

this can also be done by searching for "choose default apps by file type", and scrolling down to .mxd, but that screen takes forever to load.

I looked at this and didn't see any other directories.   I also made sure that my other directories where i had the old ones are gone, and they are.   I did go and redo the "open with" settings and set it to the correct .exe.  Just to make sure.    Here is the kick, maybe it is a registry issue.   I did notice that the "open with" options did list my old installs on there even though  they are gone and uninstalled.  I don't remember but I probably just deleted the folders instead of an actual uninstall.  But I don't actually remember.   After I redid the "open with" the correct mids does open up and it has the name of the mdx file in the window title bar, but everything else is empty.  However, I did notice that the "open With" option does have the old mids install versions listed.  So maybe I have a windows registry issue???

Anyways here is what a screenshot looks like if I double click on a mdx file.   As you can see the title bar has the name of the file.  anyways.  I have a work around so its not all that bad. The File>>Open does work.    I just have to click the View>>columns and change to a different column list number to make a lot of the Incarnate skills show.

Found an interesting glitch that I can't fathom an explanation for.

Kinetic Melee (tank/brute/scrapper, but apparently not stalker)

Slot any proc into Burst and watch the damage on QS, BB, and SB go up.

Weird!

edit:  Figured it out.  Each of the KM attacks has a GrantPower related to Power Siphon.  It exists in each power but isn't actually used by the planner for the Power Siphon calculation, best I can tell.  When I removed it, the weird bonus damage from procs went away.

Unfortunately, they got rid of Dynamic mode. The best you can do is you can turn on the switch to see the levels and you have to keep track of it yourself. It's annoying but doable.

Not to be super rude here, but there was a time before Mids existed, and people legit just used pen and paper to build characters.

Aside from the Sorcery changes which really just focuses on adjustments to the powers, and doesn't affect that IOs could be slotted in them, there isn't a whole lot that was modified with this last patch.

I totally get anxiety, but pestering the development team to make changes now, when there is an offline way to do them yourself just doesn't seem very nice.

I understand what you're saying. I know there was a time before Mids existed but I had a lot of problems making characters because I didn't know how to do it. When I was introduced to Mids, I was ecstatic. Also, I don't know how to do it offline. I've looked and I can't find anything about how to change it offline. What I need is a step-by-step instruction guide on how. I know I got upset but really all I was asking was for someone to show me how. Everyone got defensive (including me) and I think that's what happened with this. Yes, I could have handled this better. But some of the reactions I got from my posts were just as rude.

I think I saw in the commits that @Zedfixed this internally. I'll let him comment on it, but if it is fixed a hot fix will likely go out sooner than later.

Any update on this?  I have a bunch of broken builds and am contemplating installing an older version of Mids in an attempt to fix them.  Some builds simply crash and won't load.  Many of those that do load are broken from the point where a power that has been replaced - such as Afterburner - was taken.

In any case... what version would you suggest installing to try to fix my issues?  3.0.4.7?  Or something even older?  And do I need to try to get an older database too?

Thanks.

Is there a way to remove a power that isn't listed in selections? I need to remove Afterburner and replace with Evasive Maneuvers, but ofc Afterburner doesn't show anywhere.

I haven't found a way.  I'm about to give up and use the work-around of using an older version of Mids, removing the power, saving the edited build, then going back to the current version of Mids and loading it.

"Check for Updates Now" is not seeing the new version at this time.  I'll check back later to see if that's working before I re-install manually.

I had to scrape my install and manually re-install for just me to get it to work.  Trying to install the app as usable for everyone resulted in the app failing to launch.  Anyway, the new version seems to have fixed the Afterburner type issues.  I still have builds I can't open because they throw an exception though.  I was hoping that was related to the other issue, but apparently not.  When I get a chance I'll install older versions of MidsReborn and see how far back I have to go to load those builds.  I thought it might be .NET, but I'm not sure why most builds are fine and some aren't.  Here's the exception I'm getting:

You probably have the wrong update manifest (many seem to have that). Everyone should have their update paths set to this

Even with a completely fresh install I don't have that path for the App, as the /app directory is missing.  I think I'm going to uninstall and try older version now to see if I can get those broken saves open.

Well, that didn't take long.  I can open my broken Blaster save with version 3.0.4.7.  Now I just need to figure out why I can't open it in 3.0.5.7.  My 2nd broken Blaster works too.  Let's try a few Brutes that wouldn't open then see if I can figure out what they have in common.  Well, that's 5 that wouldn't open in the latest build (or previous one) but that will open in 3.0.4.7.  The only thing I see they have in common are Hasten and CJ.  And I have a lot of builds with both that work fine.

I updated MR to the current version using the "Check for..." and it can't open the build re-saved to a different file under 3.0.4.7.  So the valid 3.04.7 builds are not valid in 3.0.5.7 for some reason.  I guess it's time to get serious.  I was hoping for a fix that didn't require that.

I tried a few things that didn't work.  Maybe someone else can try opening my builds on 3.0.5.7 to help determine if it's a problem with the save or with my install.

I'm stumped on this.  Nothing really seems to be in common in the 30 builds I can't open.  My memory says they were all originally created about the same time - Sep to Nov 2019 - but the save dates on them are all over the place.  And I can open them in 3.0.4.7 and save them and they still fail to open in 3.0.5.7.

Working on it.
I barely manage to open it in an old 2.7 Mids but that's pretty much it.
Pool #3 is set to null for no reason.

I'll update this post if i can find something.

Anyway, the new version seems to have fixed the Afterburner type issues.

Oh dear. Glad to hear, you have no idea. I felt bad for all the folks using it when i realized there was a major issue with it.

---------------

Update:

Issue found: the build @csr provided has only 3 active pools (plus one epic).

Somehow it will render the last pool(s) blank (null) in the build file.
I can more or less open it in an old 2.7 Mids but crashes with the same message listed before in 3.0.5.7 and dev versions.
I think it only affects the power pools lists - i mean by that: the UI only - and not the build data.

Proposed fix complete currently testing it

To make it short:

If an error is encountered on the first pool: fetch the first pool in the database by index and assign it. I don't know yet... Concealment maybe ?
If an error is encountered on any of the other 3 pools: assign the same pool powerset as the one before.

Made some random builds with empty pools under 1.x and 2.x MHD and i couldn't reproduce it. However the base test build (@csr's) works, so....... Yay ?
I also noticed super old builds with Fitness won't load, so fixed as well.

Thanks again for bring this to our attention 👍

I'm guessing that whatever Mids I was using in Sep to Nov 2019 was the culprit.  Perhaps my Mids install was simply broken during that time.  My 1st thought was that these were old Fitness-as-a-choice builds, but some of them were builds new to HC rather than rescued builds from I19 and I21 when I made a lot of my Mids builds in the olden days.  Both of the builds I posted were new to HC.  I can open builds from as far back as May 2011 (I19 I believe) in 3.0.5.7 but I do have builds from 2008 to 2010 that throw repeated exceptions related to the Fitness pool.

Thanks for looking into this and responding.  I was about to remake some of those 30 builds the hard way.  I'll just wait and see what's in the next update now.

Am I blind or does Musculature not affect Touch of Tear? It does for other skills in Dark Melee such as Dark Maul, but I was messing with a Brute and noticed the damage of Touch of Fear did not budge.
