The Concept:

Spoiler

This character is named 2 Glocks, so if you see him freestyling around the city be sure to like his rhyme flow.

Description:  Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins (AKA 2 Glocks and Tha Mad Rapper) is a former military police officer and Rikti war veteran. After the war, he became a part time private detective and a struggling rap artist looking for his big break. One night Rawlins was investigating a case about a missing person and was kidnapped by the Crey Corporation. Experiments were conducted on him that drove him insane and left his face frozen in a gruesome rictus. He was able to escape, but his tortures left him with memory gaps and an uncontrollable urge to rhyme. At times he forgets the kidnapping and can be found freestyling in various city zones hoping to be discovered. In times of stress his urge to rhyme is greatest, but also fuels his adrenaline and increases his skills.  He now spits dope lyrics while fighting for justice and revenge. The Crey must pay!

First Appearance: Issue 26: Homecoming (2020-05-16)

I have had this character sitting in the wings for awhile, but couldn't find the right AT/Power Set.  I tried Sentinel, Defender, and Corruptor before deciding on a DP/Devices Blaster.  He is a mix of Batman (Detective), 2Pac, and Leonard (main character from the movie Memento).  With a name like 2 Glocks he had to be DP.  He had to use natural powers for the most part, so Devices was a good fit with his military background.  He has about 15 rhymes, so he might spit some dope lyrics while in combat.

The Build Goals:

  • 45%+ defense to Range and S/L
  • Good damage and accuracy
  • Good recharge for HoB, Trip Mine, and Gun Drone

Commentary:

I'm keeping the commentary light on this one.  I have done pick by pick analysis before in other threads, so many of those points are still applicable.  I was building for S/L/R defense, so many of the choices are based on building towards that goal.  I wanted to try out Gun Drone this time around and the jury is still out for me on it.  It seems like it can help with DPS when I am on teams and it isn't taking the aggro and getting destroyed.  I love Trip Mine.  I like to stealth into a group, place a Trip Mine, then hit HoB.  Absolute carnage.

I wanted to try out Victory Rush to see what all the hoopla was about, but it came so late in the build I am not sure it is worth it.  I am likely going Ageless, so VR won't provide much impact.  Maybe I will replace it with a one slots Caltrops.  Speaking of slots this build seems slot starved.  I would have liked a few extra slots to place in other powers.

I really like Devices, but as I was doing this play through I was often thinking it would be really cool if he had more Grenade powers.

Any thoughts on improvements (keeping in mind build goals)?

VIctory Rush is definitely a pre-50 power.  I found it highly useful from 40-50, but it’s definitely inferior to Ageless and you won’t need it after you get that.  Obviously works much better with high recharge builds given its timer.
