Parabola Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 So I have two game accounts for the dual boxing but the way it worked out I ended up with my main email address attached to my secondary account and a throwaway one attached to this main game account. Having not thought about it in ages I tried to log into the throwaway email account and found that it had been frozen and by the looks of it I'm not going to be able to get past the security validations to resurrect it again. So what I think I'm going to have to do is move my secondary account onto a completely new throwaway email and then I'd like to move my main account onto the main email that frees up. Is this likely to run into problems? Is there validation against email accounts having ever been attached to game accounts or is it just email accounts that are currently being used by game accounts? I'm reluctant to start the process if it might result in either game account becoming frozen...
Retired Game Master GM Tock Posted July 23, 2020 Retired Game Master Posted July 23, 2020 You can change email address in the Account Settings page. The trip-up would be setting an account to the same address: our system only permits a 1:1 email to forum account relationship. Only one email can be attached to only one forum account at a time. For what you're thinking of, a third account would have to be involved. If account 1 is on email #2, and account 2 is on email #1, then the fix would be to move account 1 to email 3, account 2 to email 2, then finally go back to account 1 to move to email 1. This would be self-support only, and we don't recommend doing this. Something going wrong with your email password (email locked out), involving an email address from a certain (one could say Hot) mail provider, and forgetting to finish the process can leave one or more accounts in limbo.
WanderingAries Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Honestly, I'd create an email address exclusively for each account and call it a day. For my purposes, I have my primary on say Yahoo and the secondary on say Gmail (general examples). Both have the same name, but the @server is different yet makes it easy enough to tell the difference. Once that's setup, point them to each other for recovery purposes! Setup 2FA with your smartphone and boom, secure accounts. ^.^ OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica!
