What happened? Did I miss something?

My computer is a toaster so trying to dual box usually results in hard crashes..therefore my tag alongs are my son or global friends or randoms.  I don't mind if they get more drops than me.  I am a slow farmer...paying more attention to the tv than I should, so its a kind of apology for taking so long to clear a map 😁

no worries. i finished the map 20 minutes ago. it's the calculating afterwords that is the hardest for me.

Ran this on my main and my alt. both are lvl 50.

Here is the results for duel boxing on 2 account with same ip using arc id 125 *briggs farm*

Main
xp 7,243,323
influ 25,758,383
common salvage 43
uc salvage 13
rare salvage 2
invention recipes 17
uc recipes 7
rare recipes 2
pvp recipes 0
vr recipes 1
enhancements 11

Tag Along
xp 18,755,987
influ 17,182,940
common salvage 52
uc salvage 8
rare salvage 2
invention recipes 15
uc recipes 4
rare recipes 2
pvp recipes 0
vr recipes 2

I usually triple box farm.  I can say anecdotally that it seems pretty random which of the three characters gets hosed over for drops.  It is always one of the three.  Once in a while it is two of the three,  The difference is quite stark.  I'll have 30 recipes on one and 3 on the other all told.  Eventually if I do enough runs it will even out.  It is fairly strange that the RNG seems to exclude some characters for several runs then for whatever reason it will seem to even out in later runs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok time to come across as a bit of a real berk, but I dont really see anything said here that is anything a player didnt figure out via playing sooner or later. The RNG and drop rates in this game are very very random. Over the years on live and now this year plus on HC Ive run no few TFs, ITFs and LGTFs among them, not as speed runs but as mass murder runs for fun and xp for those working on their incarnate unlocking etc.

Even when you run an ITF on +4 with a full party, and kill every single mob in every missions, it will be a pretty big deal if even one person gets and links a purple in chat. I mean there is a reason that back on live they could command the insane prices they did because of the ratio of inf vs purples added to the population via all the players.

In other words, you can run 8 players on a long mass murder run, and if even one gets a purple drop that is a bit of true luck. Keep in mind the reason dual boxxing/full party farms should still see way way more purple drops than 1 guy running at x8 because of the 7 others getting rolls for their own drops with every kill.

Thats why my runs tend to be a mix of fast mass murder and speed via stealth and multi prong tactics when teaming as while I dont want the slog of making every mish a kill all, I also understand that a healthy body count and the drops that go with them really help alongside merits to keep up the coffers of this non farmer.

this wasn't an Tf, ITF or LGTF question. this was an AE question regarding a possible bug. When in a party sure the purps dropping are a cause for excitement but when you are a farmer it looses it's thrill after awhile. Farmers vs non farmers don't kill for purps alone we farm for all resources in as fast of a time frame as possible. Others will help lvl players as well on a good day.

This being said i agree with your sooner or later statement. we decided to do it sooner.

The rng factor is annoying but it tells us a few things on the farming side that doesn't apply to parties. 1 of which is the loot is the loot aquried can oddly enough be better when duel boxing then not.

Looking back on my runs all my single runs without my tag along dealt a 0 purp drop.

1 run on a tag along i walked out with 3 purps.

As you mentioned it's cause for excitement in a full party when 1 drops, imagine a farmer walking out with 3 in under 30 minutes.

It's 1 of the reason we farm.

if you add up the value of that 1 run. it's just over 37mil raw influence. add say 15mil on the recipes after crafting using mats acquired for 45 mil. (adjusting for crafting cost of 600k and any salvage needed from markets)

next selling to a vendor the invention recipes at average 100k each is 3.2 mil

total is 85.2 mil and i haven't even added the enhancements or the other recipes in the mix.

The reason we farm is because this is what an average player walks away with 20-50 mil inf every 30 minutes to an hour.

I just happened to be blessed by the rng gods somehow...more then once it seems.

side note... i miss the double inf but based off the results I also understand the why. Be nice to have Saturday Double Inf day...just saying:P

When you guys talk about runs do you mean 1 mission of Briggs or all 5?

For my numbers, one run is all five missions of Briggs' fire farm.

A run is generally an entire arc, if that's 5 missions like Bloody Rainbow or 1 mission like Cult's Dreck map.

While I definitely commend the efforts to track/report what's brought in just as a snapshot of "this is what we're seeing" I can see where shrugging-off three purple drops and >30M inf in the same breath could stoke the anti-farm zeitgeist around here.  *I* get it, but there are obviously people who see stuff like that and start grumbling.

And yeah, my knee-jerk reaction is to get pissed every time that grumbling leads to an arbitrary AE inf nerf, but in the grand scheme of things it pays to remember that influence simply isn't what it used to be.  That Essence of Curare that I used to dump for 100inf can be flipped into something useful for far less than the cost of buying a specific enhancement at market rates; we've got functionally-infinite storage for recipes, salvage and enhancements, plus plenty of tools to plan builds ahead of time, so no need to wield inf like a gunship when it's time to actually slot that alt you've just farmed up - just throw reasonable bids out for the ubiquitous enhancements you need and let them roll in over time (and they will).

Bottom line, by marshaling resources and planning ahead, I've had to spend FAR less time in AE than I did back when I was simply acquiring inf just to spend it, and oddly enough, needed far less inf as a result.  Win-win in my book!

i disagree with the team itself. sry @Jimmy but they had to have changed it be it knowing or unknowingly. I felt the impact as well. *influ being disregarded in this. Recipe drops salvage quality yes. those are for sure reduced. even if it's rng it's been reduced. I used to max out after 2 runs on recipes and salvage now it takes 4 or 6 to max. not saying your wrong intentionally but if this wasn't a planned thing then it might be a new bug or glitch.

Look around other players are having this problem as well.

Anecdotally, I've got to disagree. I'm farming much less, simply because I already made a good bunch before the nerf. And the nerf was minor. What did sway me to stop was that the prices people were paying dropped, so 1) the inf I have is worth probably 10% more than what it used to be and 2) seeing smaller sales numbers just doesn't make it worth the time for me, even if I add 10% in my head to the total.

But, I did do a farm run on the traditional asteroid Comic Con map - 2 purples, a rare, 3 yellows. In one tiny asteroid map. And, I was on my fire blaster. I popped barrier, my hybrid assault, munched some reds, and 90 seconds later, the map was mostly clear. All I wanted was to get one inspiration drop - but the badge won't award unless you do a ticket run, (found out later) so I clicked the glowie and did some searching here on the forums to learn just that.

Purples, rares -  they are very rare and rare, respectively. If they dropped frequently for you in the past - you were simply fortunate.

When I was afk-farming all day and night - I did get a purple or two a day, pretty much every day, although some days I got none.

But in my recent re-visit - based on these complaints, I haven't had an issue. I still get 3-5 recipes, some rare, some uncommon, occasionally a very rare. So - from where I sit, there's no issue. I honestly see no difference.

Something to consider:
Anecdotally - my drops improve if I change maps every two to three runs.

The first run of the 5 is usually pretty dry.
The second and third are usually much, much better.
I don't usually do the fourth, but when I do - my salvage caps if I forget to craft while in mission 3. Most of the time, I'll pick a different map.

But that's just my experience with the rng. I've also gotten a royal flush well over a dozen times in the past dozen years living close to casinos on the Gulf Coast. It could be luck - or it could be the frequency of attempts.  I don't think it's superior strategy in farming, as it should make no difference in drops as long as bosses are in the mission.

Your experience will certainly vary. I just share those things because they might be helpful. I doubt it - but I've never seen the code. Even if I knew where to get a copy, I'm sure in the zillions of pages of code, I'd have no idea where to look for it.

I never run the same map twice in a row, for whatever that's worth. I farm for fun and that's part of what makes things interesting...

Anyway, like I said, it's just something both odd and oddly consistent that I'd noticed while doing the dual-box thing over the last six months or so. If it's purely the RNG being strange? So be it... But "consistent" isn't exactly a trait that I normally associate with this game's RNG, and seeing something like the recipe drop disparity happening so routinely made me raise an eyebrow.

That said, it was back to the usual pattern over my last two runs....

On the first, I had Harry in with Sokari again (Who's a 50 himself now, thanks to a bunch of unhappy Romans and time-travelling Space Nazis-).

On the second, I tossed Harry in with Amset, who's in her 40's.

=======================

First run: (Cult's Outdoor)

Harry

47 recipes dropped in total (35 common, 7 Uncommon, 3 Rare, 1 PvP, 1 Very Rare)

Sokari

56 recipes dropped in total (38 Common, 11 Uncommon, 6 Rare, 1 PvP, 0 Very Rare)

=======================

Second run: (Brigg's Cave)

Harry

36 recipes dropped in total (27 Common, 5 Uncommon, 3 Rare, 1 PvP, 0 Very Rare)

Amset

52 recipes dropped in total (38 Commons, 10 Uncommon, 4 Rare, 0 PvP, 0 Very Rare)

to clarify a run for me regarding farming is the whole story. arc 125 has 5 thus 5 times the same map.

if it's a matter of *proof of concept* vs numbers given after tallying I can easily record my screen and upload to youtube later this week.

RNG was in my favor yesterday I wont deny that at all. *don't think i did*

I grind that arc in 30 minutes just under so some farmers who do the larger maps I can understand getting their grumble on specifically those helping others lvl. since purp drops are calculated the same as with alts.

I call it as it is thou. I run farms for fun. But also cause I'm one of those players who hordes email after email of influ to myself waiting for a day when the markets get reset or balanced out.

I know farmers who can do that map in 20. and do the huge outdoor map in under 40.

no matter which way i look at it I'm seeing 30-50 mil a run 50-100mil on a RNG good day. every 30 minutes.

I would say it's safe to say that I put in 5 or 6 hours every day just to farming.

add this up in installments of 30 minutes for 5 hours at 50 mil average that's 500mil a day. 7 days that's 3.5billion.

Surprisingly it's not the first time a farmer has asked why I farm all day. I don't need incarnates and clearly not the influence. I find it...fun

So when I notice inconsistency that have also been noticed by other ie] the OP then I believe its my responsibility as both a vet player, an avid farmer and someone who has nothing better to do then test this possible bug or glitch out.

It has been noticed by others and even been put into the bug section at one point to my understanding.

I tested it and ruled it to be RNG being odd.

But that's after a bunch of tests on different lvls using solo and tag team. The results don't lie. and others backed it up.

Even with the confusion at the earlier post where i ran the map at +0/8 the rng could be seen playing random.

Personally I think it's great that people are responsive to this. both on the farming community and the players who enjoy the game.

I'm almost thinking a post dedicated to farm count would also be ideal.

However...

I wonder what Paragon thinks of all this:)

I mean, if anything, maybe these records of drops from farming could be used as a benchmark to increase the rewards from levels 1 to 45's content.  Would be delightful to see Purple Recipes drop at all levels, even if the Homecoming Team never gets around to making the Enhancements slottable at all levels.  That could certainly help players feel more incentive not to just sit and grind in AE, ESPECIALLY if those drop-at-any-level-Purples were exclusively from non-AE.

In other words:  More carrot, less stick.

Well,  my bringing up the recipe-thing apparently annoyed people and made them think I was QQing about "muh proofits!" or something (For the record, I'm not. I just farm for fun at this point, so the INF isn't really the issue-), so I'll just shut up about it... Even though I'm still seeing it happen on the majority of runs, regardless of map or who/what level the tag-along character happens to be.

Oh well. Maybe Harry is just cursed with inherently poor luck, like those characters who can grind iTrials and DA arcs a ridiculous number of times and never see a single VR salvage drop... (Yeah. I have a few that that's happened to. Don't get me started on how long it took to get Xhelethe's T4s. Because I had to buy every single one of her Rare and Very Rare iBits. Every. Single. One. I kid you not. 'Talking about "improbable and flat-out weird RNG behavior"... That was the poster child example. XD )

Oddly enough I did an analysis of those drop rates a while back, too! Not that that is much comfort for the cruelty the RNG inflicted on you.

Oh, I know. That was pure RNG Weirdness... and even funny on some level, in an "Oh, for pete's sake!"-kind of way. If I hadn't kept a running tally at the time, no one would have believed it happened. 😆
