Beasts/Nature a viable combination?

I'm new to this server and want to know if Beasts/Nature is a viable combination? I took it that it gits to the character.

Welcome to CoH where very little ISN'T a viable combination! 😛 Beasts/Nature is a very popular powerset for MM's (I suspect for many people, myself included, because they fit thematically) and should service you just fine on your journey to 50. 🙂 I have no experience on the combo at 50 yet so I can't comment to that.

 

If you're looking to team, I highly recommend the numpad binds from here: 

These will make your life as an MM much easier, especially with beasts who are very speedy melee pets that can have a tendency to run off and pull extra mobs.

 

But I always feel the best way to know if you're going to like something and if it will be viable for your needs is to start playing it; levels are easy enough to come by that I've deleted toons that got into their 20's because I wasn't feeling something with them.

Nature is one of the more powerful secondaries MMs have and beasts are a pretty solid primary. Demons/nature does a bit more damage and is a bit more survivable.

Which third power set to choose for my beast/nature mastermind?

I just took Power Master for some armor and a aoe attack.   Seriously though, Beast/Nature is nice.  You toss some debuffs, send your furballs out, if they start getting hurt, toss the aoe heal at them, or the healing patch, call them back,heal, rinse, repeat.  You don't keep them out in the fight, you hit and move, hit someone, bring them back, etc.

I run this, its not very fast but by far one of the safest mm's i've played. Drp natures buffs hop in the mob debuff something with spore cloud, drop lifegiving spores, stick call hawk on auto and target a pet til ff+rech fires off.Entangling aura will hold most stuff in place so enemies don't run off although you may get mezzed and have to toggle everyhting back on. Power boost fortfiy pack when you have the stacks of pack mentality built up and along with natures buffs the pets are almost unkillable although they seem nowhere near as fast as demons killing speed:
