As posted above I just want to know if I can stream on twitch while playing. I usual stream when I play. I just don't want to get anyone in trouble if I do.  I haven't done it yet.  I've seen others playing it on their.

No, you cannot stream Homecoming on twitch.

One year later after the stream ban and still can't stream. I went from playing daily to logging in once a month so I don't lose my SG. Sigh. The servers that you can stream from...all cause my anti-virus to go crazy so not getting into them. Oh well - guess I will check back again in a year when nothing has changed regarding the IP. It's sad because I know quite a few streamers who have abandoned HC/CoH because of this, but it is what it is I guess.

@Burnt Toast

Prior to homecoming, you could stream about a game that no longer exists.  Now the game exists again, but you can't stream it.

If I have to choose between the two, I'm good with the not streaming part.  Granted, apart from looking up the occasional tutorial on Youtube, I've never grasped the reason for watching game streams. 🤷‍♂️

Antivirus software usually has a feature called "Exceptions", where you can tell it not to scan a folder or file that you specify .

Millions of people do it every day 🙂 CoH is not big on Twitch, but the ones who do stream it (other servers) - have a small dedicated community of viewers who watch. I played from launch to sunset and then for 1.5 years on HC. I tend to stream a lot now and since I cannot stream HC - haven't really played in about 6 months because it can't be streamed. It's unfortunate since the IP negotiations have gone nowhere and a lot of the streamers I know who played HC have abandoned it as well since the ban.

Same here: I just don't get it -- it might be an age/generation thing.  My (now adult) kids do it all the time, often while playing a completely different game.  I think they just like the background noise, making them feel like they're part of a larger community, even if they're not participating in it.  It's the latest iteration of the "together alone" phenomena associated with MMOs in general.

I'm aware. But if a program sets off my anti-virus - I have reservations about running it.

Also - the other servers do not have my fav AT (Sentinel).

I could be misinterpreting, but I believe it is also against Twitch's ToS to stream pirated games. So until Homecoming becomes the copyright owners or NCSoft allows for it, you'd be in violation and subject to whatever Twitch's repercussions are on the matter.

And yet - NCSoft has done nothing in 1.5 years of people streaming from other servers. Thousands of videos on YouTube, Caffeine, and Twitch - with no bans or suspensions would indicate that NCSoft truly has no issue with them. I follow over a dozen Twitch streamers who post/stream 5+ days a week for over a year.

That may be. But HC can't say, go ahead and stream because NCSoft hasn't negatively come down on those who do.

Oh I know... "the negotiations" which has proven to be as productive as a broken record. With the current rate of player attrition if NCSoft ever had any desire to monetize the community - I am sure much like the player base that is waning. One look at peak numbers will show you that at a time when other games are prospering - HC has steadily lost a huge portion of their players. This isn't me bashing HC - its me being a realist. The negotiations are going nowhere while the players are going away. HC is still an illegal server - they don't have permission from NCSoft to run any more than the other servers. I was all for the negotiations in the beginning, but I am also not stupid and realize that they have been stagnate and aren't going anywhere. I love City of Heroes - and I love the changes that HC made to the game - I just am over the excuses and frankly - lies - that are being perpetuated by HC regarding so-called negotiations. I'll come back in another year and state all this again - when nothing has changed. Take care.

Feel free to cite your sources for this claim.

Uhhh https://forums.homecomingservers.com/status/ the numbers are there. If you think HC has not lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of players in the last year - that is just silly blind devotion. Any ways - I am done with the forums for another year. Reply if you want, but I am out until next March - when the "negotiations" will still be "ongoing."

Am I missing something important here?  What part of playing this game needs streaming other than "I want to"?  Maybe I'm just old school and don't "get it".  I dunno.  That's not meant to bash anyone by the way, I just genuinely don't see how it is somehow a vital thing to have. Or have at all for that matter.

In other words, you don't have a source for your assertion that there is a "high rate of player attrition".

Any competent observer knows that numbers such as those on the server status page vary wildly with time of day, day of week, etc... etc...  Equally, they also know that stable, mature, games invariably lose players over time.  (AKA, there's a reason why corporate games are always pushing "new, exciting" upgrades and expansions.)   And for better or worse, HC is pretty much a stable, mature game - one without the ability to create large upgrades and expansions (or generate much in the way of buzz among the tastemakers, influencers, and media).

Being able to stream won't flatten that curve noticeably.

Not really, no.  If there's an activity (PvP, streaming, task forces), there's someone insisting that it's the most important thing ever and thus must be catered to and coddled.
