We're opening this thread to allow people who have experience with both 2D and 3D art, modeling, and animation to have a place to offer their help / volunteer in the future. Please note that we're not currently bringing anyone in; this thread acts is a place of reference for when we do :)

 

Please do not include personal information in this thread!

Hello there, guess creating art assets for the game will take a while, not sure whats the status on demystifying the developer kit is at the moment, but i'd like to pitch in when the possibility arises:

5 years of creating 3d assets.

 

2 or so years of working with animation pipelines.

 

Not an illustrator but capable with general 2d graphics.

 

Little experience with VFX.

 

Spend most of my day on discord(even at work, i know, bad example.)

Few hours each weekend, not much to offer here sadly, usually really busy on weekdays.

 

Tools and software:

 

Maya is the one i'm most familiar with, worked a fair bit with blender in the past, know how to handle myself on 3DS whenever maya is not available.

Outfits mostly, lol.

 

Enemy groups might also be nice, maybe by the time we can add custom content to the game, mastermind pet customization becomes a thing o:

Hi! Mostly-2D artist reporting in. I have some ability to do 3D stuff but not with the program you're asking for.

Applicable skills:

 

I have only a little bit of 3D modeling skill but I can texture existing models like a boss. I've been doing game texture modding for longer than I can count and 100% of my experience is with older games (mostly Morrowind, where I got my start, and some texture mods here too). This includes designing particles for VFX in addition to all types of 3D object surfaces.

 

I can also illustrate and my favored style is Western-comicbooky.

 

Availability: I'm on Discord almost constantly and unemployed. My schedule is as flexible as it can possibly be.

 

Tools and software: Unfortunately I only know Blender 3D, seeing as it's the free option... as for 2D stuff I have Photoshop CS6 and the related NVidia plugins for generating normal maps and saving as .dds.

 

Interested in working on: Literally anything that needs a coat of paint. I've done textures before for faces, clothing, architecture, weapons, pretty much everything. Clothes are my favorite - hand me a generic model and some UV maps (bonus if the model is alpha-enabled, for cutouts and transparent areas!) and I'll make entire wardrobes. I'll throw some concept art your way if you want it, too.

Over 7 years working on video games, movies and TV 4 of which was AAA game studios, now working at an indie game studio.

 

I've worked with 3D and 2D animations. I'm more of a modeler and texture artist but I have extensive knowledge of animation.

I have plenty of game engine and game dev experience. I've even dabbled in C++ within Unreal Engine.

 

My 2d art skills are medium grade.

 

I have medium knowledge doing VFX as well, mostly 3d VFX work within Unreal Engine.

I've done texture work for video games as back as The Sims and Unreal Tournament as a hobby.

I illustrate from home as my primary source of income these days.

 

Availability & time zone

I'm almost always available. I'm in EST and worst case scenario, I'll be available several evenings a week.

 

Tools and software that you are familiar with

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects (the rest of the Adobe Lineup as well), Wacom tablets and Cintiq are my primary tools.

 

What you would be interested in working on

While I would settle for just helping where I can, I would absolutely love to touch up player costume textures, as well as create a slew of new patterns to use. I could provide concept art for new costumes, environments, characters, etc. Additionally, working on cleaning up some of the environmental textures, or simply bringing the world up to speed with the times by fixing signs, billboards, and business logos (even the logos used on their windows.) Also, some of our villain groups could use a little love with some minor texture updates as well.

3DS Studio? Do you mean 3D Studio Max? I have a little familiarity with 3DS Max. Currently learning to use Blender.

My ability to create/modify VFX depends on the system being used. I have hand animated VFX sprites in a distant past for an isometric "Diablo-like" I was a traditional animator for a time back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and ate hapless mammals struggling to evolve

Discord is okay (I'm on the CoH Disco but have non-shared-Disco messages and invites shut off)

Availability is currently flexible. In Pacific TZ

Rusty with 3DS Max, Maya, and Solidworks. (Currently learning Blender)

Constantly using an old but still relevant version of Photoshop and Illustrator

ProMotion (2D Sprite program - I've used this a bit on a professional level. Listing here just in case it might be of use)

Currently gearing up to learn Unity Engine (I have dabbled a little bit in the past. I have a smidge of C++ experience)

General 2D/3D Art Assets - Maybe start with some environmental stuff. A tiling level set might be interesting to do eventually.

Applicable Skills: Over 20 year veteran in entertainment - 13 years in animation, 10+ in game development. Years of 2D concept and design both character and environment, some 3D hard surface modeling experience and presently a World architect for Warframe.

Tools and Software: Dev engine (presently proprietary Evolution engine but it's very similar to Unreal), photoshop, Max and Maya

 

Interested in working on: My strength is in concept and design but for CoH, the bread and butter is the character creation flexibility. I would love to help expand the library beyond it's already expansive sets. Even if there is something I'm not super great at, I have access to top industry people to help with all sorts of things including texture generation, rigging, you name it. I'd be willing to try and help where ever I can!

Skills: - Been making music and getting paid from it by other artists for 4 years

          - Can make sounds from what my client describes

          - I can mix and master sounds (So that they're at the right volume levels. (not too loud or too low))

 

Availability: 20 hours a week at various times EST (due to scheduling it's kinda random but I can squeeze time easily.)

 

Tools I use: FL Studio 12-20, a little Studio One, and Audacity.

 

What I'd be interested in: While you haven't said you need any musical artists, I can provide with music just in case. I've also made some tracks that fit with the style of the game just for this occasion to show. These tracks are intended to be areas in certain parts of a zone (red, yellow, green), and are usually 20 - 45 seconds long. Umm... I am almost 50, retired military, with all the free time in the world.

I have experienced with Blender (Out the Wazoo), 3ds max versions from 1998-2012, know how to do most shading both by hand and with about 60 different rendering/shadermap creation tools I have bought over the years. I am a semi-professional streaming artist, and work as a freelance artist with content in a number of indy titles, from Frayed Knights through Age of Decadence.

While I know the tools... zbrush, Maya, Rhino, 3ds, etc, I PREFER to do my work in Blender, simply because I know the program inside and out... I have several good private commercial converters to other formats.

 

I have been providing 3d Assets of various sorts since the release of the Original Quake, scads of avatars for quake 2 and 3, battle maps, texturing, and graphic packs and full mod packs for games without number. From Neverwinter nights to Vampire:The Masquerade redemption, from Minecraft texture packs to Freedom Force and Skyrim.

 

I kinda dropped it a couple of years ago to devote myself to semi-retired full time character art streaming, but I LOVE CoH and would happily provide costume assets with accompanied full release of IP... just for the chance to make the white  "Bandeau Top" NOT look like it was spraypainted without priming on a barbie doll.

I have fairly extensive with 2D art, much less with 3D.  Discord handle is Heraclea; I find the site hard to use and am there very seldom. I am disabled except for a weekly stint of 14 hoers of medical treatments. Eastern time zone, US.  Tools: mostly Photopaint 7, also Gimp. No formal training at all.
