Farming Merits

I'm not sure what happened, but I was trying the first oro arc I saw, something that was 1-14. I was exed down to 9, but the mobs were level 12 and massacred me,  I did have +1 x2 which is what I usually run , but I'd have thought that should make it 10s or 11s at most.  This was on my stalker that was lv 22 with invention ios.

Yeah I like to run that one once in a while, 20 merits in about 10 minutes of work is very good.

My favorite Ouro arc is Freakshow Wars.  It has 8 missions, 3 of which are kill all.  The others you can stealth to objectives and move pretty fast, and the last mission you have to kind of know what to look for, but the room with just 2 Lts fighting each other by themselves is the boss room you have to clear.  The whole arc is 55 merits and I can do it in less than an hour usually.

For the Dreck map mission, you just need to fly or superspeed around until you find the two negotiators.  I usually use a keybind to target "negotiator", such as /bind X "targetcustomnext enemy negotiator"  They seem to spawn at some point after you've entered the mission, so they may appear in a spot after you've gone past it once.  But they talk when they appear or you're near them, so that's a clue.

Yeah, this arc is great for merits. The worst part about it is Freakshow on kill-all maps, so you have to sit there and wait at a mob to make sure they don't pop back up when you leave. That, and it's an older arc so it kinda takes you on a tour of the entire freaking city for no reason, which can be vexing if you don't have multiple tools to expedite travel between zones.

Still, 55 merits and personally it took me about 1.5 hours, because I wasn't stealthing most of the missions.

What I found best for merits was the sig story arcs. 20 merits for typically a very short time.

For example: Theoden, the contact in Skyway for the first sig arc story. All you need is a few purples and you're gold.

20 merits for 9-11 minutes. Granted, some more aggressive players can finish an ITF that fast and get a few more merits - but they lose on the time it takes to recruit.

Blind Faith (Who Will Die, part 1)
Contact: Theoden (North Skyway City)
Level: 20-24

Hero side

Rush time: approx 10-15 mins

Recommended equ:
Reveal
Jetpack
Ouroboros portal

Rewards (*for Incarnate-level toons only)
1) 4x Reward Merits (total: 20)
2) Merit Reward (total: 5)
3) *Astral Merit (total: 1)
4) *Incarnate Threads (total: 10)
5) SO enh: acc

Note: You may only choose 4x Reward Merits twice per week.  You may only choose Astral Merit once per week.  You may only choose Incarnate Threads once per week.

Recommended difficulty: -1/x1 (solo)

1st Mission
1) As soon as you enter the mission map, look right.  This is the door you will exit from.
2) Cast the Reveal power.
3) Use a travel power to rush to the big room at the top of the map on the eastern side.
4) As soon as you enter, the bad guy is on your left.  Defeat him.
5) Skip the remaining steps and use an Ouro portal to get everyone out.  Travel to Talos Island > Skyway City North.
6) Use your travel power to rush back to the entrance room (this is timed, so don't waste time.)  Use the door referred to in step 1.
7) You're not out, yet!?!?!  Use your travel power to rush to the furthest northeastern room on the map (this is also timed.)  Ignore the enemies in the final room and leave.

2nd Mission
1) Return to Theoden.
2) As soon as you enter the mission map, cast Reveal.
3) Rush past the Pumicites while listening for glowies (3 of them.)
4) The glowies are called "piles of rocks."  They're FLAT and difficult to see when you're going downhill unless your camera is facing down.  The Pumicites DO NOT like the cold.  I've found that Cold Play's Ice Storm scatters them nicely when she's trying to get the glowie.
5) The final boss is on the westernmost part of the map at the southernmost end.  Defeat him and simply exit.

3rd Mission
1) Call Theoden
2) The obelisk referred to in the pop-up is roughly south/southeast from your starting location.  On my computer the obelisk is not rendered when I first appear, but it does render when I approach.
3) Make your way to the obelisk.
4) Defeat Lemkin and 2 Pumicites.  Note: Lemkin has super powers.  Just Smashing/Lethal from the looks of them.  But his powers are electrical in nature.
5) Wait for monologue from Alastor.
6) Defeat Echidna and a CoT archer.  You can earn the Villain Disruptor badge.
7) Defeat another CoT archer.
8 ) Additional (slight) monologue from Alastor and cutscene.  You can earn the Adjuster badge.
9) Exit and call Theoden.

When you're nearing a milestone/badge level, like 18, 28, 38 etc.,  go check all your contacts for available missions.  If they offer a mission that's labelled 'part one' or otherwise seems to be the prelude to a story, pounce.  If the contact appears with a book icon you have Chosen Wisely.

Then go do something else.  Run a task force with an XP boost, or join some other levelling team.  Return to the book mission after you have passed the milestone.  The odds are now pretty good that the mobs in the book mission are level capped in such a way that you have missions full of green or grey mobs.  You can now solo them easy; the XP won't be good, but the mobs should melt like butter.  Finish quickly and claim your merits and (maybe) badges for finishing the arc.  Even if you outlevel the contact and missions, if it's a story arc you cannot be denied them.

1st Mission

1) Talk to Michael Binocolo in Talos.

2) Fight some Rulu-Shin cultists.

3) Exit through the back door into the caves and rescue Percy Winkley from Rularru's Ward and some minions.

4) Lead Percy to Montague Castanella (follow the marker.)

5) Fight off a few waves of Rulu-Shin cultists.

6) Darrin Wade appears.

7) Fight off a few more waves of Rulu-Shin cultists.

2nd Mission

1) Return to Michael Binocolo.

2) Take the fishing boat to the location.

3) Check your map.  The Rulu-Shin meeting ground entrance is located at the top of a hill where there are three crypts.

4) Defeat the Rulu-Shin cultists guarding the crypt and enter the left crypt.

5) Enter the hole underneath the grave in front of you.

6) Defeat the Rulu-Shin cultists and find three chests.

7) Find the Rulu-Shin guardian.

Answers for Rulu-Shin guardian:

a) The Floating Watcher

b) Kora Fruit

c) Storm Castle

8. Go through the door behind the guardian

9) Beat on some more cultists

3rd Mission

1) Call Michael Binocolo

2) Enter the store in the cargo ship

3) To get the to the locked door to the storage vault on the southern wall (downstairs,) head east and take the first right turn to the south.  You'll probably hear the glowie by the time you pass the first door to your right.  Inside you'll find the keys to the storage vault in the middle drawer of the cabinet.

3b) If you try to get into the vault legitimately, it won't work.  But you can try to do this by heading upstairs and approaching an office with a guard.  DO NOT attempt to enter the office without talking to the guard first.  After talking to the guard, enter the office and talk to Harry Stein.  If you attempt to force him to give you access to the storage vault then it will merely cause all the guards in the store to attack you.

4) Follow the marker to a dimensional portal and jump inside of it.

5) Follow the marker to another dimensional portal and jump inside of it.

6) Ignore Hamidon.  You can't reach it.

7) Follow the marker to the boss and minions and retrieve Tommy Arcanus' skull.  Note that the boss is as nimble as a goat so Fly/Hover/Super Jump/Combat Jumping will be useful in chasing him.
