i have an Dark / Time Troller and hes an blast to play.

The best thing is with his Time Area Toggle and Fear he racks up that sweet - to hit so no one realy hitting him.

makes it an breeze to play.

I have Dark/Dark and Dark/Storm and both are awesome. Used to have a Dark/Time but it's too clicky on self buffs for my taste so deleted him. Not sure which combo you finally went for though, let me know if you want me to post any of the builds.

I've been leveling a Fire/Nature. Sucks a lot of endurance, but Hot Feet + Entangling Aura is a lovely thing. Add in Bonfire and Imps and you can kill a lot of stuff just standing there. Char + Entangling Aura makes it easy to hold bosses.

TORCHBEARER:  Uun - Martial Arts/Invulnerability Scrapper | Uunison - Gravity/Storm Controller | Uuncola - Ice/Temporal Blaster | Uundergrowth - Plant/Martial Dominator
                           Uunreal - Fire/Time Corruptor | Uunknown - Mind/Psionic Dominator | Uunflappable - War Mace/Willpower Brute

EXCELSIOR:        Uunderdog - Radiation/Radiation Scrapper | Uundertaker - Radiation/Dark Corruptor | Uunstable - Super Reflexes/Staff Fighting Tanker | Uunseen - Illusion/Poison Controller

Uunrest - Dark/Tactical Arrow Blaster | Uuncool - Cold/Beam Rifle Defender | Uunderground - Earth/Earth Dominator | Uunplugged - Stone/Electric Brute | Uunfair - Archery/Trick Arrow Corruptor

Uunflammable - Fire/Nature Controller

I'm fond of Dark/Time and Dark/Cold for -To Hit and +DEF synergy. /Time is probably a hair better for the +Rech and PBed Farsight. These would be my top picks.

Dark/Storm is also a good option with Double Stuns and -To Hit which also brings big damage to the table. I'm considering dusting off my Dark/TA that stalled out midway, post /TA buff should be pretty good. Dark/Dark is strong too (I haven't recreated this build since returning to HC)

Fire/Dark is a match made in heaven and smooth from 1 to 50. Visually it looks great too. You can build one to be really tough.

I am working on Fire/Storm and Fire/Time so its too early to tell.  A few have raved about Fire/Storm if you can mange your endurance. Fire/Time has double auras, PBed Farsight and area of denial play going for it but less offense oriented. I've had good success with Fire/Nature (concur double auras are great) and Fire/Cold, Fire/Cold blooms very late but has strong potential if you go with an IO build, without IOs it can be a slog. Fire/Rad and Fire /Kin are classic builds still viable for the modern game, both help with End and +Rech. If you want oddball and unique Fire/Poison, dont quit on it until you get your tier 9 in /Poison.

-Main Controllers-

Dark/Time/Primal   Earth/Thermal/Ice   Electric/Poison/Mu   Fire/Dark/Fire   Gravity/Kin/Mace   Ice/Rad/Ice   Illusion/Traps/Mace   Mind/TA/Psionic   Plant/Storm/Ice

I would love some tips on a dark/dark build. How good is dark/dark for harder content? Like op I'm mostly a solo player.

I remember having a Dark/Dark controller on live and really liking it, but when I tried recreating it here, I am not impressed.  She's been stalled at 46 for about 12 months.  The wolf looks cool, but the howl gets old really fast and it doesn't  DPS like Stoney or Jack or even Fly Trap.

I have a Fire/Dark that is amazing.  The amount of to hit debuff you can stack, plus Bonfire, hot feet, and imps, you can stand there and burn stuff down with very little danger.  The AOE recovery/regen buff keeps you from ever having end trouble after lvl 26ish.  You do need to toggle pull tough mobs, as most of the to hit debuff is localized around you and around your toggle.  If you can get the mobs in there together, none of them can hit.

I made a Fire/Storm concept character that is using Gale as a control ... the idea being that nothing ever gets to stand up long enough to hit you.  I slotted KB to KD in gale and bonfire, and with freezing rain thrown in, everything is ALWAYS on it's back.   That has worked so well, I'm thinking of respecing some of my other /Storm chars with more slots in Gale - a power I have always resented having to take and have never put more than one slot in.  Without the kb to kd, it is situational at best.

Fire/Rad is also really strong.

Perhaps I misunderstood this is purely solo play. I thought you were twinking your character with your Fire farmer Brute.

Dark/ isn't the best primary for solo play. It picks up with PROCs and Epic pools but these are late game benefits, the character will spend most of its leveling without significant damage. The mechanics for Dark/  are straight forward and standard for a Controller set. Main difference is you do get a ST Confuse and a set of temporary pets. The pets require a target to cast them and they wont appear if the target is killed while they are being summoned. They stay on target until the target is defeated, after which they move on to different targets. This is is really the only unusual mechanic of Dark/. The secondary effect is -ToHit which is a debuff that makes you harder to hit, think of it as on the same axis as DEF but less potent with level scaling.

If you are all in on soloing Dark/ the best damage secondaries are /Storm, /Traps, and /TA, where all three are late blooming for damage. Dark/Storm is probably your best bet here but the others will do. You could go pet focused buffing with something like Dark/Thermal but its going to take work to get it going and it will never out perform the others in damage.

For pure soloing go with Fire/ you'll be happier.

Afraid mine is not designed around soloing harder content but at some stage will have to review him around soloing since fast paced gameplay at high lvls makes crowd control kinda meaningless. All in all, perma fade should give you plenty of survivability while you should use procs to boost your dmg for harder content
