JnEricsonx Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I think I had a Earth/Storm back in the day, but can't remember. I know I did have a Plant Dominator, and had fun with them.
Ringo Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 In my experience, Plant/Storm relies more on just Confuse/Immobilize and if you come up against mobs that are resistant to those you're in for a rough time. Earth/Storm offers a bit more variety of control, but lacks the simplicity of Seeds of Confusion which is what allows Plants to be so dominant. My plant/storm builds are here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,2812.0.html Give 'em a look
Crowcus Pocus Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I'd say Earth/Storm just because it always feels like you have an extra tool to deal with pretty much any situation the game throws at you. Plant does better damage just because of Seeds and Creepers, but it won't be as capable in terms of sheer control. Honestly, if you are a sucker for /Storm like I am, I'd probably end up playing both combos. Warning: This post may contain an opinion.
Scarlet Shocker Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 both are good options but I have a great disco character, Earth Wind and Fire who rocks! Try them and decide for yourself, it's not like you don't have enough slots! There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
Guffnat Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Earth/Storm is really amazing for teams. You can make them steamroll with all the -def and -res you have in your toolkit. back in the days: Zukunft (EU) ... nowadays: Everlasting
Without_Pause Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Both will work. I have the most experience with Earth as I took it to 50 on a Earth/storm. I have done Plant a couple of times on Doms previously and now. Plant will be easier to solo or on smaller teams since it can generate more damage, but Earth/storm is such a beast in terms of control. I've had a team repeatedly go in three directions because it knew I had things under wraps. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute. 10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller. "Downtime is for mortals. Debt is temporary. Fame is forever."
Erydanus Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Earth/Storm is so solid. You tell most people you have an ____/Storm controller and they'll go "Oh. really." You say you have an Earth/Storm controller and they'll go "Oh, REALLY??" See me on Excelsior as Eridanus - Whisperkill - Kid Physics - Ranger Wilde - The Hometown Scrapper - Firewatch - and more!
Crowcus Pocus Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 The new patch has made it so the AoE immobs no longer neglect KD. I would say this is yet another great reason for going Earth/, as it allows you to get the knockdown benefits of Earthquake and FR while keeping things tidy and setting up containment. This may also mean that the KBtoKD enhancement is no longer required (although I would still use it, if I got the spare slot to do so). Warning: This post may contain an opinion.
Figment_ Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Love my Plant/Storm/Ice so much, she was my 1st (so far only) to 50 on Excelsior. Much of that has been solo work at x8 players, but it groups pretty darn well too, mitigating a lot of issues with alpha strikes hitting the melee folks like trucks. Can run +4x8 incarnate stuff solo easily, and other content at +3 or +2 at a speed I'm comfortable with. I could do +4 then, but kill times are longer than I want. Be ready for longer EB and AV fights, but AoE content just gets steamrolled. I don't have my heals in my build, but I haven't needed them grouping, usually some teammate is better set up to heal anyhow.
