Biff Pow Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 So on the Test Server, Afterburner is a bonus power rolled into Flight, and a new toggle Evasive Maneuvers has been added to the pool. I think two 'combat flight' powers is a little weird, so I am spit-balling ideas for an alternative. Examples: Propulsion Blast - the same power that gives you flight can also be channeled into a ranged attack. Pretty straightforward, causes knockback. Altitude Training - auto power that gives +Recovery and resistance to End/Recovery debuffs. Anti-Gravity Field - Hover but with a Repel effect. Feel free to add your own, or if you like Evasive Maneuvers, that's cool too.

Alchemystic Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 To my knowledge, Afterburner no longer has defense bonus, hence Evasive Manuevers absorbing that functionality.
Andreah Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I always thought that Hover was the combat variant of flight. It has the control and the defense bonus; so I kind of agree the new one is duplicative.
Bopper Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Evasive Maneuvers doesn't grant you flight, in fact it does nothing but drain endurance if used when not flying. It's more of an upgrade to flight. When used while flying you will have a significant increase to your fly speed (base 21.48 mph added), it does not suppress in combat (twice the speed of what hover currently does), plus it grants defense out of combat (helps elude/stealth), it grants immob protection and it provides knockback resistance (which increases the effectiveness of any KB protection you have, essentially. Examples: I think assumptions around the name Afterburner has caused a bit of confusion in the update. Afterburner has had its behaviour altered (refocusing on in-combat benefits rather than travel) and has been renamed to Evasive Maneuvers. It covers a lot of the functions that Afterburner had, had the 'Only Affecting Self' removed and added immob and -fly protection plus knockback resistance. Flight now has a new power built in called Afterburner, which gives short boosts to flight speed. It's a new thing, not related to the old Afterburner. So Evasive Maneuvers hasn't been 'added' so much as Afterburner has been adjusted and renamed. The new Afterburner has been added. Edited March 15, 2021 by Lines
