Starting Over

Recommended Posts

Post to track a journey assisted by ample cheating.

Recreated my chaos mage human only warshade. Purchased 16 hours so far of all 3 amplifiers and double xp. Set diff to +0/x2 w/ bosses.

That was on Wed night. This morning she dinged 24 right at the end of Shadowstar's third arc and she'll give me another at 25. I've run nothing but her arcs solo. Bumped diff to +1/x2 w/ bosses and will run radios solo until 25. I suspect diff will continue getting pushed up regularly from here out and probably should have started doing so earlier.

Stygian Circle, as it always has been, is still a linchpin power. Nothin like an insta-fill on health and endurance after every spawn. I've even been running Orbiting Death since very early on, mostly because it just plain looks awesome but also because more damage is always better.

I still fail to see why Kheldians don't get mez protection especially with the addition of Sentinels into the mix. They have armor shields and spend a lot of time in melee where Sents are fully ranged AND get standard armor set mez protection. While I'm not even remotely a fan of the cheat codes we can buy from the P2W vendor, I'm certainly going to keep the defense amp loaded for as long as its in the game until the mez situation is fixed. No need to refresh the other two and probably didn't need them in the first place.

All in all, I'm enjoying her again and I'm honestly not sure how much of it boils down to me just enjoying watching her because she looks cool as hell while fighting.

Plan to do the same with my Peacebringer. Strip her, nuke her, rebuild her on my primary account and run her solo from 1 to 50 with defense amp loaded or at least until she has perma-light form and doesn't need it. Same ride, though, run the PB contact's arcs and radios solo. Kinda nice playing like I used to before hopping on the farmpling train.

Build question on the PB: Normally on armor sets I completely skip the heavy crash T9s and since we can just buy mez protection, is there any reason to bother going the perma-lightform route?

It would depend. If you're going human only and plan to exemp, you'll have the shields anyway (probably) and can get decent resists that way. Since Tri-forms don't really use toggles, LF makes a lot of sense for them. LF is also less slot prohibitive than slotting and using 3 separate power picks to get that res.

The other consideration is Light Form also provides you a 30% recovery bonus at base and is enhance-able. So for post LF range play, you utilize Light form to not only cap your res (sans Psi) but are granted a sizeable recovery boost which is permanent versus running the shields instead that come with the constant end drain from presumably, 3 resist toggles, on top of any other defense power pool toggles you choose to run.

Food for thought; you could combine it's 3.11 mag mez protection w/ defense amp to get robust mez protection more comparable to melee classes, as opposed to merely using one or the other.

Keep in mind the Light form crash (and you may know this already) brings you to 50% HP and End even if you're HP and End were below 50% when the crash occurs.
So it operates a bit differently than the T9 crashes, and comes w/ no -recovery debuff. So the Resists and Recovery bonuses persist as long as you can activate the ability again before the crash occurs.

Wait what? If I'm at 25% health/end and LF crashes my health and end go UP?

Yes sir. Even then, I can only speak for myself but my hp is rarely below 50% on mine, and a quick Reform Essence and back to full anyway.

Huh. Could have sworn I just had a full toggle drop from no end with an LF drop. Going to double check.

I mean I could be wrong about the end portion but I know that's how the health portion works. As a Tri-former I rarely ever run out of endurance so... let me know what you find out.

Doomrider covered most of it, so this is a just a "my experience" thing...

Lightform is what Unstoppable wishes it was. Permable, gap-filling (Mez protection), and a much softer crash. My PB doesn't hit as hard as some of the others on here because of build preferences, but I run a human-only with perma-Light and 32.5%+ positional defenses (acting as poor-man's Mez protection and Slow Resistance) and I love him. Adding the Defense Amp actually brings him to respectable mez protection. I highly recommend keeping Lightform, especially for close-combat enthusiasts like us!

Yep. Really neat when it happens if you have been really pushing your survival in a fight.

If your toggles dropped during a LF crash, you may have been below 50%, anyway. If it comes close to or corresponds with a Hasten crash, or worse, after you opened with Inner Light, Dawn Strike, and Solar Flare, you might have tanked your blue bar that way.

Mostly on Torchbearer, but if you ever see me on, feel free to say hello!

Astral.Kai - Peacebringer; Dark.Enforcer - Dark/Shield Scrapper; Spark.Enforcer - Electrical/Shield Scrapper; Shadow.Reign - Dark/Regen Brute;

Glitter - Warshade;

And others to be added as I get them up to snuff, lol!

I had only thought of that crash example through experience, lol!

And, being if not the Claws guy, I am sure you can appreciate this next bit probably more than I do:

It is a slot tax to change most of the KB to KD, but if you do, you can chain-flop everything in your surrounding area as a bit of active mitigation.

Photon Seekers - KD

Dawn Strike - KD

Solar Flare - KD

Luminous Detonation - KD

Between those, Lightform, Defense Amp, and actual Defense, I actually feel a little congratulatory to a mob that manages to stick enough mezzes on my PB. I blow them up with another round of recharged AoE, but I do acknowledge them pulling it off.

Already in the plan. (Already have a kb to kd on dark detonation on the WS.) I do love bouncing the baddies. And, yes, I'm still eyeballin Air Superiority on both of my Khels for more bouncy goodness. But we'll see.

On the Warshade I would say go for it. On the PB you already have Radiant (you would need to convert to KD) and Incandescent Strike (already does KD). If I-Strike is too slow for you, switch that one for Air Superiority. All 3 is probably overkill, but I cannot say a whole lot: I took Cross Punch because I was already committed to Boxing and Kick to get Weave (for once, I didn't need/want Tough).

Huh. PermaLF with net gain on end rec even during crash period. PermaEB for 1856HP before accolades. Overcapped DR to all but Psi. Heal every 17secs. Hasten 2 seconds shy of perma. Absolutely zero KB in build. Wut....  Lousy defense but kinda don't think that's gonna matter much. EDIT: Lots of slows might be problematic.

I think you have end recovery through Lightform's crash it either does not have a Recovery debuff or it is minor and can be played around using Conserve Power, a stacking application of Lightform, and/or Ageless Destiny. The setting to 50% endurance rather than zeroing part really helps here.

I cannot open your build since I am at work, but will definitely trade notes once I get home. With the stats you have listed, I doubt you have anything that is going to jump* out and wasn't an intentional decision.

Another build option that some folks run (and makes more sense for Multi-Form builds) is to grab all the other Shields and use them as slot mules for the Impervium Armor psionic resist IO. You wouldn't get a lot of defense, but most of that was wrapped up in toggles you do not use with the Forms, anyway. In exchange, you get nearly as high psi resist.

The only question I have is how much do the set bonuses from the Obliteration set in Solar Flare matter to you? Franken- or IO set in 4 slots + the Forced Feedback +recharge proc and the Overwhelming Force KB->KD should easily fill-in any recharge gaps you might still have.

Astral.Kai, for your consideration:

Got the PB all built. She's functional but clunky. Do get hit with the double-whammy of hasten's drop along with light form's drop causing dangerous issues with end. Alpha musculature is a must as damage output still feels kinda anemic, even with degen backing it up. But she can handle DA spawns at +1/x8 as long as I don't get too caught up in scrapperlock and miss clicking LF or EB or carefully watching health all the time. Would be nice if Inca Strike would get the Total Focus animation\cast reduction. Still working on unlocking destiny/lore/hybrid so it'll get better. Went mighty on judgement to keep with the knockup/down theme.

Get your accolades.  That should help spackle over some of your endurance issues.

Still love Stygian Circle.  With slotting and global recharge I pretty much have it at a 10 second CD, and one body alone probably gives me 2/3 full health and end as is, so usually I'm just topping off.  Too bad I came up one slot short to fit a kb to kd in her nuke.

Maybe you can +5 a few things to free up a slot. I do that with Hasten now.
