I just came across this skyscraper in Moscow, Russia, the Mercury City Tower:

and it reminded me of a couple of the towers in Paragon City:

At first I thought the Mercury City Tower's design might have inspired the CoH buildings, but after further research I learned that the MCT was completed in 2013.

OMG, this. At the height of Live, our company office was in one of those slightly older 3-story buildings that's been cut up and rearranged a few times. Both I and my (now-ex), who also played for a few years, commented frequently on how everything from the parking lot, building facade and especially the zig-zag hallways with many odd dead ends made us wonder what villain group was lurking around the corner. (Bureaucrats, as it turned out, the most fearsome of all... but that's another story.)

 

I don't think it's surprising that tens of thousands of buildings are modeled on real ones, or use distinctive features. Or, as in the OP's case, might have even been modeled on architectural renderings or studies for what would become real buildings later. All part of why CoH remains so great... you can actually go on an architectural tour of the place, if you've a mind to.

Yeah, that bad.

IIRC it used to be 3 buildings but they just extended the outer walls and then connected some rooms/hallways seemingly at random.

 

THEN they decided that only one entrance would be available.  So I worked in bldg 3 (my numbering) but had to enter thru building 2.  I'd go up the stairs, then turn approx. 135 degrees to my left.  Another hall would split to the left, but I had to keep right (straight) thru the break area and then another 135 degree turn to the right followed by a 90 degree turn to the left.  Go 10 - 15 yds and bear 45 degrees left to get to my cube farm.

I had to use the bathroom while they were cleaning it one day.  I'm in bldg 3, the only other bathroom anyone could tell me about was in bldg 1.  I swear it took me over 20 minutes to find it.  Really wish it had been making the glowie sound.

Ow!

Manglement would love it, but can you imagine trying to take a... sit... with that sound going constantly?

...and in that building, we occasionally encountered a guy, never sure if he was owner or employee or client, who was one of the tallest people I've ever seen IRL. At least 7-2, maybe more. To come around a corner and see him slowly, silently creeping along in a bit of a hunch (slightly low ceilings, didn't blame him) triggered every BOSS! reflex, every time...
