Dark/Psi Build Critique, please? First Pass on Perma-dom

So, I was working around, chasing +Recharge, slotting out powers... And I ran out of slots. Crap?

Anyhow, what are the thoughts/feedback on this first pass? Really enjoying this toon, currently level 28, and shaping to be a monster on just common IO's.

Builds are great, but what do you actually think about the powersets? How do they play? How are early levels 1-25ish/30ish? Do you run into issues with mobs? What are the strengths?

Anyhow, what are the thoughts/feedback on this first pass? Really enjoying this toon, currently level 28, and shaping to be a monster on just common IO's.

Specifically, the Hold and the Confuse early are two hard controls, effectively. I skipped the lowbie lowbie levels, courtesy of DFB, but have been playing it in regular content up through level 29 now. I'm playing mine in Melee, as with Haunt, ST Hold, Possess, and the Stun, I'm relatively safe solo, and giggle inducing on teams. Ran multiple summer blockbusters, and have had to remember to NOT confuse the AV's at times for badge credit. I'm ignoring the cones, and my build is with power picks and slotting as I'm playing/intending to level it.

So, whatchu got on it? ^_^

Death is the best debuff.

Any input on Domination + World of Confusion?  Building the same sets, and I thought that could be a great combo, but only 24 now.  (On a side note, last team I joined had this same combo as well...but not World of Confusion yet.)

It's not bad, but honestly I just didn't notice it really affecting too much on my Plant/MA. I ended doing a respec to replace it with Ice, which is hard to pass up for the damage, defbuff, and def shield.

So, another revision, looking to start slotting and leveling into this build. He's up to 33, I've been distracted by other obligations and alts.

Major concern is Mind Probe - It's kinda Mule-ing, right now... Should I grab those slots and toss them elsewhere? (Kismet, Heal/End Uniques, etc)

Would love feedback from someone smarter on this than I.

I only had one DOM before the shut down, and it was a a grav/psi. I only got him to 26-27.lol I am excited to try some other new powers. So, as for my input: I am probably just missing it, but where is the travel power? Again, sorry if I am just missing it.

I don't have one. Sprint+Ninja/Beast Run works quite well, especially with my base having porters to every possible TP zone.

And, here's a bump for another pass! I've gotten him to 50 on the commons, not vet level 2 and slotting out (about 1/2 in) with the following build. Wishing I'd started it sooner, because even with it half empty, it performs better than my leveling build did.

Notes:

Still no travel, haven't missed it yet.

Psychic Tornado and World of Confusion both suck. And were slot hogs. Bai!

Indomitable Will seems superfluous with Perma-Dom, also, bai!

Swapped into Concealment from Leaping for extra Defense mules. Swapped Victory Rush for Vengeance for the same thing - However, Victory Rush is a FANTASTIC little power if you DON'T need the Def Mule, only weakness is that it's not affected by Recharge. Was my first time trying it, as I leveled, and found it quite useful.

Currently missing most of the EXPENSIVE IO's... still +0x1 w/ Bosses viable. Not hit mythical Perma-Dom yet, but getting close.

Assume all non-Purple/PvP/Proc/Global/Singleton Set IO's are Attuned.

No Incarnate, yet... Going the slow way on him, they're in there as goal/placeholders.

So, thoughts? Critiques? Questions on why my slotting is so BLOODY idiotic?

It pains me to see Fearsome Stare taken that late. I know you say you are going melee, and I basically did the opposite, i went full on ranged (aside from Midnight Grasp to finish off bosses or anyone who gets too close) and am all about the cones, but Fearsome Stare is such a great opener. It's a soft control that you can use before they are aggroed, it eliminates the alpha strike, and has a significant tohit debuff for some added damage mitigation.

If you look at the evolution of the build on this thread... It wasn't even in there for end-game at first. And, I don't plan on exemping much on this toon... PSW is still such a game changer for how it plays. So, I'm not going below 33 (effectively 35) for any length of time, and most content I'd play/replay will be 40 or higher for exemping. I have incorporated it into the controls, though, instead of just being a slot mule. Fantastically effective just for the ToHit Debuff, BTW.

Finally finished the build two days ago, and happened to be parked in Cimeroa for Day Job. So, I hopped up on the wall, and went to see how well I could do! Took a short learning curve to keep an eye on Dom to keep up Perma-Dom(first one I've ever achieved it on, and that was with 3 Doms on Legacy), but once I nailed that... I was cleaning house. It worked exactly as I hoped - Everyone stunned, dying, and I'm draining them at the same time. And, yes, Fearsome is a great opener, but sometimes I want them to group first, for better DP.

Now, it's Incarnate time!!!:

Alpha is the big question - Musculature Core? Intuition Radial? Spiritual Core? Something else?

Interface will be Degenerative/Reactive (if I get that far)

Hybrid Assault Radial

Destiny Barrier/Rebirth

Lore and Judgement - Whatever.

Do you find that you get a lot of use out of possess at lvl 50? It was invaluable for me while leveling my dark/psi/psi, but I realized that as I started getting more maxed out I never found the time nor need to use it.

You also may want to check out your total accuracy bonuses. My build also has tactics, but I realized that between that, kismet, link minds, and 75% or so global acc bonus from purples that I was already at 95% hit chance against +4s without any accuracy slotting in actual powers. Just an idea as it seems you put a lot of +acc in some powers. Might free up some slots for procs or a more needed attribute like end/dmg/tech.

Shadowy binds over living shadows seems odd to me. Why prioritize the ST version over the AoE? Especially since living shadows also carries a tohit debuff, stacking it with the fear cone makes for effective AoE lockdown on a very short CD.

Any reason you left Mind Probe totally unslotted? Seems like you plan on being mostly in melee and it's your highest dmg attack outside of the snipe. You only have 2 attacks as is, surely there is room for it in your attack chain.

For incarnates I went with intuition radial, barrier core, degenerative core, and support core. Not sure if those are optimal but they've worked well for me.

I've barely played him at 50... got him there, finished the build, and went onto another alt after confirming it worked. Possess is mainly there for shenanigans with AV's, and the fact the ATO's don't fit anywhere else... (Dark Grasp is the real only alternative, to me.) Maybe as I play the build more at 50, I might change my mind, and find a better way to spend those slots.

The Accuracy in everything not labeled Drain Psyche is accidental, as I was chasing Mez/Damage and EndRed in everything else. But, yeah, I hate missing... and Grant Invis had a free slot.

EPS ghetto lockdown, not DPS. Soloing, I'm in melee, and only using Fearsome Stare as an opener. I'd rather be spamming PSW and HoD, than hopping OUT of melee to drop a cone. The ST Immob was taken solely for those annoying AV's that tend to run around, with the added benefit of being a +Recharge mule. You'll note that my previous builds didn't have either - I was initially just planning on Subdue as my Immob.

Slots, frankly. I wanted the slots elsewhere. It wasn't an easy choice to make, and I enjoyed it being 1 Acc/3 Dam 30 IO's on the way up. However, unlotted, it hits for 160+, not far behind Subdue. It's also the last power I'll use in my attack chain (I'm throwing controls, and PSW has a 6 second recharge), and then only for filler on a hard ST. However, dropping a 50 Acc/Dam and or Hami might be wise... or if I rip slots out of Possess and Crushing Impact into Subdue, I'd only lose 2.5% recharge... potential tweaks once I get more time on him.

Alpha was my big question: Glad to see someone else likes the balance of IntuitRadial. From my Scrapper who's made both, I know that I want Hybrid Assault Core, as I play as a damage dealer with mezzes, not a mezzer with some damage... and MezProtection is covered by the Perma-Dom (Note: Not even a -KB IO).

Thanks for the feedback and questions... got me thinking on a few things, for potential testing/future changes.
