Level 50 but still getting XP?

Just came back to Paragon City late last summer.  My first hero hit level 50 recently and when I play him now I am still getting XP.  Not just the incarnate XP, but actual XP that advances my "pink" bar.  Is there now a level 51 in game?   Sorry if this is an old topic but I tried searching these forums and nothing matched.

Level 50 is the highest level you can attain. The 'normal' XP that you are earning is going towards veteran levels, which grant badges every 3 levels as well as Empyrean merits and incarnate threads periodically. See the wiki page on veteran levels for more details about the various rewards. You don't gain any more slots or powers past level 50, aside from unlocking incarnates which is a separate system.
