[Beta] Patch Notes for May 2nd, 2021

Powers

    • {PlayerSource} grants you {Damage} points of absorption over time with their {PowerName}
    • You receive {Damage} points of absorption over time from your {PowerName}

Enhancements

  • +range set bonuses now have 7 tiers (like all other types), rather than 3
    • This should have no impact on existing sets

Miscellaneous

  • Locking icons in power trays now also locks macros in power trays
  • Added missing bio for Digiwrench from Sgt. Schorr's arc

Atlas Park & Mercy Island

Echo Plaza

  • Added Luna near the TUNNEL portal in order to allow Praetorians to purchase past Anniversary badges
  • Added P2W vendor by the hospital in order to easily get the new Only Affect Self and Disable All powers
  • Logging off near the Hospital will now award credit towards the Caregiver / Pain Specialist day job
  • Logging off near the Tailor will now award credit towards the Fashion Designer day job
    • This is the only Fashion Designer location available to Praetorians
  • Removed fall damage

Sewer Network & Abandoned Sewer Network

  • Updated the Abandoned Sewer Network minimap to correctly display Vahzilok's lab
    • This area was added to the zone in i25 but the minimap was never updated
  • Updated the Sewer Network minimap to remove the trial room (which is only present in the Abandoned Sewers, not the regular sewers)
  • Updated both maps to show the Skyway City entrance
  • The "Living Dark" badge in the Abandoned Sewer Network has been moved into Vahzilok's lab

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with minimap compass textures scaling incorrectly if Cimerora was the first map you loaded into
  • Minor LoD fixes in Atlas Park
  • Fix basic Freakshow Tank Swipers and Freakshow Tank Smashers counting twice for the Tankbuster badge

  • Fix basic Watchers and Overseers counting twice for the Visionary badge

    • ("Basic" in this context means that they're not special versions used in the Catheral of Pain or alternate looks)
  • Fixed Vespillo's Pass (ITF mission 3) minimap freaking out at the entrance and in the final area

Powers Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that would cause some oddities while running various stance-setting powers (like Ninja Run + Power Slide)
  • Fixed a bug that was causing Low-G Pack and Zero-G Pack temp powers to break travel powers
  • Dual Pistols (all versions): Addressed some issues with animations not executing for the next power right after a weapon redraw attack
  • Peacebringer > Luminous Aura > Quantum Maneuvers: Fixed a bug that caused intermittent vfx
  • Minor text fixes for Inherent powers

These changes will not be going live in this patch - they are for testing only. Please provide your feedback if you would or would not like to see these changes go live!

 

PvP Powers Changes

  • All travel power speed cap increases from Issue 27, Page 2 now also apply in PvP
  • Sorcery > Arcane Bolt / Arcane Power
    • Arcane Power can now trigger in PvP
    • Damage bonus in PvP is 50% of the base damage rather than 100%
  • Fortunata Hypnosis (IO proc): PvP placate effect reduced from 5.336s to 4s
    • This puts it in line with the Presence pool's Pacify, which also does 8s PvE and 4s PvP

I look forward to some QA work later today.  (Though I'll probably just be verifying Glacier Peak's findings)

So far, looking forward to these going live.  At least the changes to stuff I use, rest I don't have an opinion on such as PvP, but it looks reasonable.

Hmm, I think you guys have now updated the Sewer Networks more than they were updated back on live.  Are there further plans for sonething down there?

Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.

Just to double check, I copied my Praetorian that I had parked in Echo Plaza on Live in the Icon, and I got time served for the day job.   So if you park your pratorian in that Icon now, and it's 100 hours later when you login if this goes live, you might get the Fashion Day Job right away.

 

Other thing noted:

On live: My Praetorian parked in Echo Plaza shows the Hero icon, not the Resistance Icon, but only when logged out while in Echo.   Not in Pocket D or elsewhere.  Doesn't seem to change any locations she can get to via the Tunnel, Base Ports, or other places. Hmm, one other thing to check with that

This seems to be resolved on the Beta shard.

 

Checked in on the Living Dark Badge and it's at [-896, -890, -1018]

Hmm, I think something else triggered it on live, will have to check a few more things

 

I think this only changes the Icon on the character select screen to non-praetorian.

I did note this happens if I copy the character over to Beta, then it's selection icon is changed.

I've reported this a couple times but not heard any response, so I'm starting to wonder if it's just me.

Are other people seeing the Double Jump icon blinking as soon as it is toggled on?

I have only seen it in random instances and I can't successfully replicate it in order for it to be addressed. Not saying it isn't important though, but unless I knew exactly what is causing it... yeah I just haven't focused my efforts on troubleshooting it.

That’s so strange, because for me it’s literally every character that I have with super jump, when I turn on double jump the icon in the corner immediately starts blinking. What’s even stranger, is that when my friend and I teamed up and he was also on a character with super jump, he had the same exact bug, except when I looked at both of our buffs in the team window they were both blinking...but they were blinking at different rates! But for both his characters and my characters, the icon in the corner is blinking as soon as we toggle on DJ.

@Glacier Peak I just tested it again. Made a brand new character on Excelsior, a Katana/Invuln Scrapper. Ran her up to 4 real quick and took SJ.

 

This is a character with no toggles yet and no enhancements at all.

 

I toggle on SJ. The icon appears in the corner.

 

I toggle on DJ. The icon appears, blinking immediately.

 

I don't know what else to do to eliminate possible causes.

Just confirmed with my character on Excelsior, Tara Watt.

DJ Icon under health bar starts blinking as soon as it's turned on.   I copied her over to Beta, same thing.  I'll have to check more chars in the morning.

Ok, it seems to only happen when a Praetorian Char is copied over to Beta. Icon will change to the Hero/Villain from it's Goldside counterpart and will be that on both Beta and the starting server, but only once.  Recreated on both a char in Echo Plaza and Nova Praetoria.

Okay I am now getting the flashing icon consistently. In fact, it seems like anything I try it in conjunction with, it flashes on my status bar. Activating Super Jump then clicking Double Jump, yep it starts flashing.

Travel DR Feedback


Due to DR, it is not possible to reach the newly ported over run speed or jump speed caps in pvp without external assistance (eg. speed boost, internal reduction).

The plot below shows how various travel powers function at various levels of enhancement on brainstorm:

The orange line is super speed (or speed of sound) + sprint + swift. (However, sprint and swift are always 53% enhanced at every point on the line).
The blue line is fly + evasive maneuvers + swift. (However, evasive maneuvers and swift are always 0% enhanced at every point on the line).
The red line is super jump (or mighty leap) + hurdle. (However, hurdle is always 53% enhanced at every point on the line).

 

The points show how fast in mph the travel powers go in pvp at 0%, 38%, 53%, 76% and 103.85% enhancement (after ED) in pvp.

 

The plot shows that run speed reaches around 94 mph in pvp when using a 103.85% enhanced super speed/speed of sound (and a 53% enhanced sprint & swift), a long way off the new run speed cap of 120.25 mph.

The plot also shows that jump speed reaches around 82 mph in pvp when using a 103.85% enhanced super jump/mighty leap (and a 53% enhanced hurdle), also a long way off the new jump speed cap of 105.57 mph.

 

In addition to this, the most problematic aspect of all for pvp balance is the fact that fly can reach the new flight speed cap of 87.95 mph, and can even almost do so without slotting evasive maneuvers or swift for any +flyspeed enhancement. Since I27P2 improved the -fly protection that a player can stack while maintaining full fly speed from magnitude 1.0 to magnitude 9.0, and because the movement speed a player can reach without external help with fly is greater than that they can reach in SJ, it seems possible that this could result in fly becoming the new travel power of choice. This is something I believe should be avoided since leaping-style travels demand more skill to utilize well.

 

With all that in mind, I have suggestions for how travel speed DR should be changed to remedy these issues. I will get to the numbers shortly but before that here is a plot of what my suggestions would look like, which can provide a point of comparison to the previous one:

This plot shows that run speed reaches around 120 mph when using a 103.85% enhanced super speed/speed of sound (and a 53% enhanced sprint & swift), I designed it this way so that it takes a full 3 slots of +5 IOs to reach capped run speed. The reason for that is so that the power “speed boost” can still have a benefit by allowing teammates to spare slotting from their travel powers, as well as not have to use sprint.

 

The plot also shows that jump speed reaches around 105 mph in pvp when using a 103.85% enhanced super jump/mighty leap (and a 53% enhanced hurdle), again I designed it this way so that it takes a full 3 slots of +5 IOs to reach capped jump speed. Similarly the reason for that is so that the power “internal reduction” can still have a benefit by allowing teammates to spare slotting.

 

As you can see in this new plot the ranking of flight and jumping travels has also been flipped. This should ensure that jumping travels remain the optimal form of movement in pvp.

 

Only 3 values need to be changed to achieve these results, the “DimCurB” values for SpeedFlying, SpeedJumping and SpeedRunning. Here is a table of what those are now and what they would need to be changed to in order to achieve the above results:
