Nrg/Nin build help - I have no idea what I am doing

Recommended Posts

I've been messing around with trying to make my own build instead of just copying the ones other people post, and the below is what I have so far for an Nrg/Nin. I know it has nowhere near enough defense/resistance, but I am not sure how to go about fixing it. If anyone would like to take a look and point me in the right direction (once they are done laughing!) I'd greatly appreciate it.

I checked through the first 10 or so pages of the stalker board and couldn't find anything like this to reference. Sorry if I missed something obvious.

Cheers,

Hi @wyvaud,

Players like you are the exact reason, why i made another big post about Stalkers. Look up in my signature to find Builds for Stalkers of any combination.

I surely did pick other pool powers but you could change the builds how you like it. If you choose to go into the Teleportation Pool, i would recommend to pick Fold Space. It is Amazing and very usefull for creating more density. Unfortunately Energy Melee will not be very good in exploiting that dense pack of mobs.

Your build has a lot of things that i would do different. for example you have acrobatics but still slot knockback protection IOs. Physical Protection has way to many slots. Energy Transfer is the single best damaging power you have, slot something damage increasing into it. Power Crash is very strong on Stalkers because it is made stronger to compensate the loss of whirling hands. pick it and use it. There is a Jumping Punch technic to make the melee cones hit more enemys, try to practice it so you hit more enemys. If you are not very familiar with making builds in general, just use the EM/Nin Template in my Tier List Post.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. everyone starts somewhere. we are here to help each other!

Hi @Croax,

Thanks for replying!

I read a post someone made on Reddit about their Nrg/Nin, here, which I was kind of working toward. They had a focus on single target and had mentioned issues with mez and so on, so I was trying to put in bonuses that helped with that and enhancements that would stop other unfortunate things like knockback. How much is too much? I have no idea.

How do I know I am putting in the best set bonuses to have enough defense etc when planning a build in general? I know where to find the enhancements in mids, but I feel like I fall down on what pieces of the jigsaw I need to keep in mind overall.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble, off to read up on your big post.

Cheers,

Wy

Edit: Wow you really have every combo, thanks for all that hard work!

I do have some questions about the EM/Nin build to help me with my understanding of the slotting (I am certain it all makes sense I just don't get some of the logic yet):

  • Is crushing impact x5 taken in barrage as a mule for the accuracy and recharge bonuses?
  • Is red fortune x5 taken for damage and recharge bonuses in a similar fashion?
  • Is unbreakable guard taken for the 4 piece defense bonuses?
  • I don't understand the slotting of winter's bite 2 piece in toxic dart
  • Why is perception slotted in Adrenal Booster? Shouldn't it take more tohit buffs?
  • I don't get the stamina slotting?

Thanks again for all your builds, and for the breakdown of the various powersets and your Stalker guide.

Recharge Bonus only. Other things are just a Bonus.

Yes. we want 45% defense against Melee, Ranged and AoE. Preferably more but i wanted to get the most recharge possible, without sacrificing too much.

I wanted Adrenalin Booster Because it is a good damage cooldown, even if you can not have it perma. it increases damage to hit and recharge. to get there i would have to take something else, so we have the travelpower and somethig else. i choose toxic dart, because i could get 6% resists with just one additional slot or simply waste the power pick. If you really want to use the slot elsewhere it is ok, since toxic dart is not going to be used anyway. The increases perception was also just one slot for a nice bonus. you can slot whatever you want here. the perception increase is global, so you would have it active even when the power is not running.

Performance shifter will proc from time to time for a small amount of endurance. and power transfer will do the same for health. to get some bonuses i used another IO for Endurance increase and power transfers 2 piece bonus was more desireable than performance shifters.

If you want a good read about Energy Melee look up the Post of Bopper. You can compare the Build he used there to my Energy Melee Builds and see the differences and similarities. One thing to remember. Stalkers are Damage dealing ATs. The Stun is just a Bonus. we rely on killing the mobs.
