joeyp1022 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 So this is ultimately a question of "Am I doing something wrong?". I've seen videos saying you should have all tier 4 Incarnates by veteran level 50 based on merits alone. The patch notes state this as well with a layout of how many you get for every 3 levels. The problem is the math doesn't work. If you were to get a T4, on spending merits only, it will cost you 68 merits. 38 spent directly towards 2 crafting items and 30 converted to threads to get the rest of the items. That makes the total cost of all 6 slots 408 merits. By level 50, you will have recieved a total of 360 merits, which obviously isn't enough. You will have to get to level 63 to total 410 merits. Now, before you bring up thread and shard drops, this is all based on merits and merits alone. Even if we do talk threads and such, the grand total of needed threads is 2640 for all t4s. Shards aren't worth messing with because of low drop rate and component cost. If I remember correctly, by the time I hit veteran level 50 I may have got 120 shards and maybe 600-700 threads. So... am I doing something wrong? Is there something I don't understand or overlooked and I'm doing some expensive way to get them? Were there patch notes somewhere that stated changes to the system that I am unaware of? Influencor- Need PL'd... no charge. Pay it forward. Fabulous Freddy- Faaaaabulooous!
Zolgar Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I think those videos are full of *ahem*. Now, by veteran 50 being all Tier 4 is certainly doable. You can use shards (and components from like ITF, KTF, etc) to offset the cost for your Alpha slot (typically I will t3 alpha by burning literally every resource I can to get it NOW, and then switch to slow rolling it up to t4), you get an extra 960 incarnate threads across your first 11 veteran levels (120 every level not divisible by 3 until 11), plus extra drops throughout. To be honest, the only thing I push hard for T4 on, is Destiny (especially Clarion on my squishies) Always happy to answer questions in game, typically hanging around Help. Global is @Zolgar, and tends to be tagged in Help.
joeyp1022 Posted June 1, 2019 Author Posted June 1, 2019 You know what. You're mentioned the threads you get from those first 11 levels... completely forgot about them. So it's not merits alone. Those threads equal 66 merits, plus the 360 merits by level 50 and we have 426 merits worth to work with. What do you know! I just misunderstood because I had stritcly merits in mind and forgot about the free threads. Thank you. It can be done! Tell your friends!!! Influencor- Need PL'd... no charge. Pay it forward. ogged2 Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 My Crab is only 20 and has one T4 in all but Hybrid where I have two T3s waiting for a Self Evolving Alloy. (I have spare Emp Merits, so I could craft that one, but I'm too cheap for that atm.) The thing is that getting to veteran level 50 involves playing the game quite a lot and I believe how you do that is kinda important. I spend the majority of my post-normal-level-50 time running tips, Dark Astoria arcs and Incarnate Trials. DA and the trials provided so many components and merits (astral & emps from the trials, emps from DA) that I didn't have to rely on the merits granted by the veteran levels.
Xenon Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 while you do get merits from every 3rd vet level... you also get astral (5:1 conversion) and empyerion merits from incarnate TF. running BAF is a quick and easy way to get some merits. rewards that drop from iTF may include rares and very rares, and i got a notice of the well from market crash(the weekly) the other day. you also get 10 threads as a reward from some repeatable missions (every 20 hourse in DA, and for some story arcs). while its 20 threads to make a common, they do drop fairly often when defeating enemies. personally, i have T4 in everything except lore(T3), with two T4 in both alpha and interface, and planning for another hybrid. there is a definite learning curve to what will slot best for your build, and your expectations vs the reality of those slots.
