"Best Secondary for Thermal

I've enjoyed Empathy since live, but thought I might try something a little different in thermal because it has a bit of mitigation as well as heals. Anyone have thoughts on tbe best secondary for it? YEs, I'm aware that "best," is relative, but I'm still interested to hear everyone's choice (sepcially if you can tell me why you chose it.).

I guess it depends on what you ultimately want to do/accomplish with your character?

I had a Thermal/Sonic Defender that I had made to be a team player, even got her to 50, but, just for me personally, I didn't enjoy her. Idk what it was, but something didn't stick. But anyway, /Sonic is a great set for teamplay since you boost everyone's damage through its -res in the attacks, but if you're looking to solo, I'm not sure it's the best set to do that with since Thermal's big debuffs come late in the set and /Sonic's damage is pretty low.

 

On that note, I want to fire up either a Thermal Defender/Corruptor, but I'm in debate over which blast set I'd want to pair it with, lol.

Ice works well.  It gives yourself more mitigation / control and it hits really hard.  It's thematic as well, as you are manipulating the generation or loss of heat.

Played Sonic/Therm Corr on live, and played it again as a defender on homecoming. Sonic is a great pairing with thermal because while therm has some intense ally buffs, the debuffs for a support set can be lacking, Sonic wholesomely fills this gap. Thermal is also a support set that has zero endurance management tools and Sonic blasting is very endurance-lite. I played my sonic/therm corr before and well past the dawn of invention set enhancements and the character was a ton of fun to play because I could be surrounded by 7 other characters that were min/maxed IOs and I felt just fine with my contribution because both thermal and sonic work so well with just their base values. Sure, getting some IOs on your therm/sonic will make a difference, but it is just one of those combinations that just works particularly well without needing any.
