Can we PLEASE get a no tolerance policy against unsolicited sexual comments in tells?

Recommended Posts

Maybe there is one, I don't know. But what I do know is that several friends of mine have been regular targets of people who cannot seem to keep their creepy comments to themselves and to my knowledge these friends have reported it and nothing has been done, because the people who do it are still around. So, devs, can we PLEASE get a no tolerance policy against unsolicited sexual comments in tells. I don't mean a "you shouldn't do this, please stop doing this" comment or post, I mean an actual POLICY. As in if someone reports you for making an unsolicited sexual comment, because you SEXUALLY HARASSED someone that you will be banned for it?

And if you're one of the people who do this, knock it the hell off.

Everlasting.

And it looks like the CoC does say that it's not allowed, but given the frequency at which it occurs I guess what I'm looking for is a statement from someone that says that people doing this will be dealt with.

Maybe move off Everlasting while waiting for resolution from the devs, because I can’t seem to replicate this sort of sexual attention on Excelsior or Indomitable in spite of all my Fiery farmers being hawt female thirst traps. Everlasting sure does sound like the unofficial perv server when I read the forums though.

I've never had to after live, but I'd certainly look into the petition thing so that you can start the Dev contact. Also, I'd look into logging the interactions.

The GMs, as I recall, won't tell you "OK, that person's been banned" or "We've done this-that-the other." Don't assume nothing's been (or is being) done just because you don't hear back. Keep reporting when it happens.

Petition in game, you'll get  an email saying they got the petition (and I *believe* when it's marked resolved.) They can check chat logs, though if it's a consistent problem from someone or in a certain area, I'd say turn your own chat logs on so you can look back and say "Yes, it was Mr. Creepyman in Perez Park at 18:45 October 35th."

And if it's the same people, after reporting them, one star them, note what they're doing in player notes so you know WHY you one starred them, and put them on global ignore. If they're part of a SG, maybe find who's leading it and let them know, too. Little groups of friends might not do anything (or might,) but other groups have kicked people out, so...

Per the code of content, "Sexual, provocative, pornographic, or adult content" is prohibited, so there is no need to add anything to the rules.  As others have pointed out, report the offender to the GMs and let them handle it.  You will NOT get any notification of the actions taken, so just keep that in mind.

People doing this will be dealt with.

And likely, already have.
As said above, we do not discuss individual incidents, or what was done.

But typically depending on severity we issue a warning, track it, then can issue bans that lead to a permanent ban from the game. Sometimes a few steps are jumped.
But we do sometimes get cases where a harasser gets a warning or even a several day ban; then a few days later people may see them in game and say "Look, Homecoming did nothing!"

The main thing to remember is:
Continue to report to escalate consequences if you see repeated behavior or harassment.

Guide to dealing with harassment in Roleplay

If you are having trouble with harassment or intentional RP disruptors:

  • Please remember to go OOC in a tell and break character immediately. If you want the situation ended, there is no point to you staying in character with this person.
  • Politely and specifically ask them to stop the behavior, or ask them to not interact with you in a tell. Local chat is likely to be missed in busy areas.
  • Please take a UI screenshot* if possible showing both you politely asking for the behavior to stop, and any response. Then attach it to the forum support ticket. If you cannot, Menu, Support in game is fine also.

We do take it seriously.

Thank you and have fun RPing! It's always great to see creative people getting into character!

Conduct Guidelines
-Do not abuse or harass others
--This includes players, Homecoming staff, and players or staff from other communities`
--If someone wants you to leave them alone, you must leave them alone

Ive never had this happen to me on Everlasting.  Or Virtue for that matter.

Whether on a male, female or huge character model.

I guess my costumes must not be thirst trappy enough.

I still want you, Bill Z Bubba. If you want me to sexually harass you I can. Although I don't swing that way, but I would be willing to pretend that I do if you REALLY want me to, lol.

This is what they used to call foreplay, and RP, they have an official RP server for this kind of thing...

As the GMs already posted there is a policy but its not a no tolerance policy such as the kid that got kicked out of school for eating his poptart into the shape of a mountain that the teacher felt looked like a gun.  And while we may see the person ingame again it doesnt mean there was no punishment.  Not every punishment is a perma ban.

Yep.
The main thing that breaks the system down, and that s also very discouraging to me - is people not bothering to report.
Sometimes because they got the idea in their head that nothing happens, or that staff does not pay attention to support tickets. Very wrong.

We do take them very seriously and review every one.
We may use a stock reply due to volume or the fact that we can't give out details due to policy; but every ticket is personally looked at, particularly harassment reports. Usually by multiple GMs.

The system works well if people continue to report incidents.

If there is only one report, and someone says "Eh Homecoming didn't do anything (that I personally saw), I'm not going to bother!" the system breaks down right then at a warning or temp ban, and the harasser keeps on going, likely targeting other people too.

1) Document. Take screenshot(s).

2) Report. Provide your screen shot(s) along with the perpetrator's character name and what server they are on. Not a bad idea to get their global and provide it as well

3) Ignore.

So. Get screenshots of of the in-game text/chat window.

Menu>Support>Harassment and Conduct

Place the character/player on global ignore.

Shake and repeat. Every time the player does it, go through the process. The more reports the DEVs get; the more likely they aren't going to be able to harass people any more.

distracted be someone prattling on and misread something

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

All this.

Suggestion for this is to turn cht logging on. You'll get a text file that way.

If you want to screenshot chat (or, for less annoying things, like mission clues, bios, etc) -

/screenshotui 1 so it grabs the UI.

Take screenshot.

/screenshotui 0 to turn off the UI grabs.

You can even bind them.

This thread is definitely tempting me towards taking my claws tank Catgirl ERP for a vacation on Everlasting, but it does feel insensitive to the OP to say so.
