Infighting in mission

In the "Defeat Black Skull and crew" mission from Ron Hughes, where you have to destroy three Superadine labs and take out Black Skull, after destroying the labs and reaching the back room, I discovered that there had been a severe breakdown in loyalty between Black Skull and his crew -- I found him fighting against a spawn of three minion-grade Skulls, and stood there watching until he was finally able to defeat all three before taking him down. Apparently they weren't satisfied with his leadership and were attempting a Klingon promotion.
