SR/RAD Tank for the ASF?

Recommended Posts

In one of the many conversations I had about the new Aeon SF, @Bill Z Bubba got me to thinking on finally rolling a SR tank..

Whats everyones thoughts on this build?

The high def numbers, some s/l resist, and the -def of rad and the aura, seems plausible.

How is the heal on /Rad? More useful as damage or a heal proc monster?

I ran an SR/MA Tanker solo through the first mission on relentless on beta. I don't have anything to compare to and haven't read other feedback on the new strike force, so I can't say if it went well or poorly, but it was slow going. Lots of pulling and running, and I did die once, but that was entirely due to my own stubbornness, and before I realized they were using Vengeance.

I've heard the heal is solid but I can't get around the many long-ass animations. That said, having Irradiated Ground in the set to make up for SR's lack of a damage aura sounds pretty good. And, yes, SR did just fine in the DASF as main tank.

Same thing I was thinking of on IG, the animations are a pain I have a Rad/Fire broot and I skip alot of the attacks just because of the time. So instead I rely on PPPs to make up for it.

I have Rad Siphon slotted for dmg so was unsure of the dmg.

Radiation Siphon has to hit a Contaminated target for the heal to go off, so it can be a little unreliable. However, Irradiated Ground can be slotted with a number of damage and utility procs, and the patches keep things mad at you  if they stand in them. I have a SR/Rad/Soul Tanker that I use to pull on MSR and it's survivability vs Lvl 54 Rikti is great. It should be a good combo on the ASF, especially with team support.

Ah, yes I see what you're talking about now that I'm looking at Mids. Thanks for the info!

Radiation Siphon by itself has a decent chance (32%) to apply Contaminated and with not a lot of recharge bonus you can then follow up with a hit will consume it. When in a group you can also use Atom Smasher, which has a 35% chance to apply and keep an eye out for which targets get 'Contaminated' above their heads.

I will say that Proton Sweep and Devastating Blow are miserable powers (a real shame in the case of Devastating Blow since it comes with a 50% chance to apply Contaminated) and I do not use those on my Elec/Rad Tanker, substituting in Cross Punch (Box, Kick, Weave) which gives you a recharge boost for every foe it hits and so helps you cycle back around on your Radiation Siphons.

All this to say that I do not have too much problem getting Radiation Siphon to go off for extra healing. Of course I also have Electric Armor's healing but Radiation Siphon is a noticeable boost, and if you want you can squeeze in the Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance proc too.

Heh, yes 🙂 Among my regular group, we call it "Devastatingly Slow".

I skip Proton Sweep all the time, every time.

I feel somewhat bad about the need to skip those two powers and console myself with having taken every other power in the set.

Elec having a damage aura on top of the one you get from Rad, I am just now contemplating proc'ing those bad boys out as it works out to be a minor hit to Melee Defense (3.75%) from what I currently have.

So I sorta (I did it) copy someones SR/ minus the secondary (cough cough Bill Z), and added my on flair (not really). To create my anti ASF tank because, like Khan I want REVENGE! Not on the Shat mind you but, that damn SF.  So advice/critique is appreciated, I wanted a short attack sequence too.

Solid, for sure.

I'm about to finish my SD/DM (anti-ASF) build and we'll see how he does.
