Critique My MM Bots/Dark (Old build I used several years ago and may need updating)

I am a returning player but I've dabbled with CoH/CoV ever since Beta.  Now that I am retired, I have more time to put into games and have recently came back to Homecomming.  I used to run a 50 Bot/Dark MM that still exists on this server but I have not played him since returning.  I'm currently trying to get a Brute Rad/Fire to 50 so I can use him for Farming and getting used to the game again.  I would like some feedback on my old MM Bot/Dark build.  I thought it was pretty good when I played him in the past but things have changed up quite a bit since then.  Please feel free to offer suggestions or rip me a new one for making mistakes on this build.  I'm totally open minded and willing to take in constuctive input.

That's a pretty solid build, I am currently leveling up my bots/dark using a slightly tweaked version of my build from pre-sunset.  My build relies on a bit more regen and Status resistance rather than defense.  but I am liking how yours is put together. I think I'm going to need to give it a go on the test server and see how it fits my play style.  Bots/Dark was my first build from COV launch. and it was always fairly powerful solo machine, with the new improvements on the homecoming servers, I find it even more so. its a build that even done poorly is hard to beat for the sheer enjoyment factor.

Squeeze in the Reactive Defense unique IO for a scaling damage resistance to all damage types. Can slot in Protector Bots by moving Edict or CtA to Battle Drones. Or maybe drop Repair and take Vengeance as a mule for it. Twilight Grasp is such a good heal that it makes Repair pretty redundant. 

 

How was endurance on the build? Theft of Essence proc in Twilight Grasp might help if it's an issue.

I was planning on getting rid of Repair anyway.  If I remember correctly, I don't think I used it much at all.

 

I'll look at that Reactive Defense Enhancement and see how it effects the build.

Reactive Defense has a base +3% resist to all damage types. It also provides a scaling resist which equals to +0.1% res for every 1% HP loss. So if at 1 HP, it will add about 10% + 3% base for +13% resist to all damage types. I tested this by opening the Combat Attributes window, view damage resist, flying to max height, dropping and landing abruptly. Don't worry, we won't die. Luckily the ground breaks our fall.

 

I prefer it over Shield Wall. SW is better at 81% HP or higher but Reactive surpasses it at 79% HP or under.

I liked your build so much, I went back and did some tweaking to it, basically to bring it inline with my desire for more regen.  I sacrificed a smidge of end recovery and ~1/2% defense across the board, for a boost to regen via additional health slotting from 200%  to 253% or net~25% increase over your build. I also am stuck on maintaining super Jump as my travel power so Super speed had to go, and was replaced with SJ with same IO's.

 

I also took the advice of StrikeFox and dumped repair and included the Reactive Defense IO into vengeance, and I also put a kinetic Combat knockdown bonus IO into boxing, since it was empty

 

There are some things I am not sure if they are issues with Mids or something missed, but the Perception and Threat numbers are not lining up, maybe it has to do with the switch from SS to SJ.

 

anyways, I am definitely going to copy this one over and see how it performs, because It blows the socks off my old builds. thanks for sharing your build.

I just got finished playing a few paper missions in Grandville against Circle of thorns set to +4/x8 and was basically in god mode,  I never once got close to dying. Once I started playing with the incarnate powers and picked up the Cardiac radial Paragon for the alpha slot, it was god mode, My endurance and health never really dipped below 90% for more than a second or  two, and for the most part stayed maxed all the time.  It definitely works way better than any build I came up with in the past. Thank you so much for sharing, I think I have found my new dream build.

I compared the new build you posted and my old build and while my Resistances were a bit higher than your and your Defenses were a bit higher than mine there really was not much of a major difference in the two stat wise that I saw.  I'll prob just keep my existing build since it is already slotted out and I would not have to buy any further enhancements for it.  That way I can put the money into my new MM Beast/Nature and my new Brute instead.

you are correct.  I mainly boosted the regen up by about 25% over what it is in your build.  I really like lots of regen 🙂  Your build was really solid, and I found it difficult to really squeeze more out of it.  I toyed around with stuff for a few days and really kind of fell in love with it and the way it was done.  I then just kind of moved things around to get rid of repair, and change the travel power to super jump, and add in the other stuff suggested.
