Ankhammon Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 I'm leveling up a Traps/H2O and I'm a bit stuck on which would be a better choice. The recharge on Misdirection seems pretty high, but I can take it down into the 80 second recharge level. It's biggest plus is the tasty -res on top of all the aoe damages I got going on. The Water Burst does do a kup which I could leverage with another FF proc giving even more recharge which is handy for my FoN in particular and will get me a few ticks closer to perma when tagged along with Rune of Prot. It'll still be down a significant amount of time though. I figure I could get it to like 3 minutes on and 2 minutes off. What would you do? Here's a look at the build I'm sorting out. Please ignore the power placement as I'm just working on powers to take and IOing them. I'll do the full build later. As always, any input is appreciated. Frozen Burn Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Uh, Water Burst! That should be a staple and never skipped, imo. If you have to skip something from Water Blast, skip Steam Spray (the cone), but even then, it's pretty good too. You'll get more use out of Water Burst than Misdirection. Phase Shift seems to be a throw away power in your build and it's pretty much limited use except for a once in a while as a OH S**T power... but since you have Rune of Protection and Force of Nature that both serve as that, Phase Shift is not really needed. Ditch that, and take both Misdirection and Water Burst. Also, you don't need both Stealth and Infiltration. Keep one or the other and then pick up a Celerity +Stealth IO to put in Sprint - that will give you your complete invisibility to foes. Then pick up Combat Jumping instead - cheaper toggle to run, slot your LotG +Global Rech in it and then move a couple slots to Misdirection/Water Burst as needed. 1
Uun Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Water Burst will accept 6 damage procs. Just saying. Stealth alone gives you complete invisibility no longer requires a +stealth IO. Alternatively, a +stealth IO can be slotted directly in Infiltration for complete invisibility, eliminating the need to run Sprint. 1 1 Uuniverse
Ankhammon Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 I hear ya guys, Concealment line is not worth what I'm giving up. Thinking it through... If I give up on any concealment power other than Phase Shift, I can't get containment so I end up with either Stealth for some more defense or Infiltration for lots of speed and jumping. And I could get water burst for some damage and more recharge plus some control. also I could then get TI for s/l resistances (which I could use half the time). Or just swap out Phase Shift for Water Burst. I might just do the swap of steam spray for water burst then I get rech/control while giving up some damage. Not a bad trade. Decisions, decisions.
Nemu Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 You are way too invested in survival on a traps defender. It's very easy to softcap all positional defenses and obtain 75% S/L resist with traps, but here you are digging deep into 2 pools stocking up on 3 extra panic buttons that combined don't have 100% uptime. Below is a shell and it's not even trying hard to hit those goals, and you have 38 slots to spare. You will seldom find it useful on fast moving teams. (But if you do take it put an FF proc in it, it can trigger just by laying the mine) Put a decimation build up proc in seeker drones. Put FF recharge proc in AoEs with >10s recharge as a general rule of thumb. Stealth proc in sprint + SS = total invisibility to most mobs. Dominate can help you round out your ST chain. 1 Liberty, Torchbearer, Excelsior, Everlasting Jezebel Delias Level 50 Fire/Elec/Mace Blaster I am the Inner Circle!
