Electric Armor - Great on a Brute?

In general, Elec Armor is just one of the best resist powersets. Back on live, once Conserve Energy was changed to Energize, that was pretty much a wrap haha. Elec has a bit higher baseline resistance numbers, a heal, an endurance ability, and a +rech autopower. Generally a well-rounded resistance powerset. I've got a SS/Elec Brute I use as our primary tank on LRSF runs and he's been one of my favorite toons since 2008 (between live/homecoming of course).

SS/Elec sounds like an awesome combo. I'm looking to pair with Katana or MA myself. More for thematic reasons.

4. That leaves the only hole to negative energy and toxic (I think - will need to check my notes from back when) then use Melee Core when needed to cover those.

 

Now you are as unkillable as any tank with roughly twice the damage in most scenarios.

You always make it sound good Inf 😂 what are some of your favorite primaries to pair with Elec Armor?

Any of them will work but with its increased recharge and endurance tough to get along sets like TW get a lot easier.

 

Mine was a Rad/Elec Brute and it was my first Vet Level 100 character ~3 years ago.

 

You can do some really cool thematics with the electric armor graphics - think Thor, Zeus, Raiden, haha even sonic the hedghog - go with superspeed and claws in a blue color palette.

 

I am not sure why elec armor doesn't get more love especially on Brutes but i have always gotten along better with it than Rad, Bio etc. Aside from Dark i think in the right hands its the second best resistance set on Brutes and probably the 4th or 5th best Brute set overall.

 

Its just such a good spot for them, but overkill on tankers so it just doesn't feel as good.

Random follow up: what primaries do you feel are best at generating fury? I assume quick animating sets like: Dual Blades, Katana, Claws, Savage Melee.

Anything with a damage aura wins, but fury generation in these days wont be a problem with any set.

Electric armor is great for every dmg res type but toxic, it has a really good self heal that jacks up regen and a end refill- both have good recharge time too. the final power is not necessary for the most part because of the heavy drawbacks that can be resolved with other powers. the only hole that electric armor has would be the lack of any built in defense. because of that, overcapping res is not a real thing when solo- the idea is to just build towards the res caps, set bonus' will add to a cap'd res inadvertedly to icrease the res of somethig not yet cap'd

ive had an electric brute and the self heal is really good but the build wasnt built towards def. larger HP pools benefit from regen values more than smaller ones but a scrapper would simply do more dmg with their dmg aura and be able to proc it out. the soul mastery epic pool gives a def power that could be cycled with the heal and incarnates as well. 
dark melee appears better on scraps than brutes so a dark/elec/soul scrapper would be really good for anything. a spines/elec/soul scrapper would excel at farming due to 2 dmg auras that would be outclassing the tanker and brutes combined. the dark/elec would have 0 end issues and one could perma soul drain. the -to hit is nice too. street/elec brute could be alot of fun as could a psi/elec. martial arts/elec i think is the set up to compliment elec's lack of def because of storm kick buffing positional def

While I didn't, I suggest grabbing Hasten, as that leads to the important parts of Electric Armor...getting resists as high as possible and more +RCH to get the heal back ASAP.  That's how Electric Armor survives imo, not focusing on Defense set bonuses.

 

As for Primary, pick one and go!  🙂

Define fix.

 

The -defense is negligible because it's a resistance based. The -end is quickly recovered by Power Sink. Nothing is going to stop the -damage, but you can skate around that with temp powers judgement, and proc slotting.

Well the idea is since electric armor helps with recharge, stack that with hasten, rage with recharge and then it's a perma rage so no crash.

You can actually triple stack rage. I've done it in Hami raids where you get a lot of external recharge buffs as well. It doesn't last long at 3x, like 10 seconds or so.

Rage always has a crash even if you perma it. Most of us actually build enough recharge to run it double stacked for a significant uptime.

 

The HC devs floated a rage patch a few years ago that would make it not have a crash at one stack, but a lot of players at the time complained about the change when it was on open beta and it was reverted and hasn't been revisited yet.
