Fire/Storm Build Critique

Hey all,

 

This is my first attempt at putting a build together in a long time. I was able to get Melee/Ranged/AoE defense all to slightly over 37%. Would just like to get feedback to see if anyone has any other ideas, preferably on eeking out more defense, although I feel like 37 shouldn't be terrible. I didn't realize how slot intensive it was to get some of those def numbers so high (especially melee).

Here is one I am currently leveling.  I went with the idea of using hovering out of range to allow me to focus on ranged defense as that is my preferred play style for corruptors.  SL resist and EN def are also reasonably high, and recharge is 90% w/o hasten toggled on.

Ooooo, Fire/Storm/Dark, one of my first 50's and also one of my favorites.

 

Since /Dark works best in melee, as does /Storm, I always build my stormies for Melee/Ranged softcapped defense.  This one (with Agility) will get you over softcap for both.  Personally, if I can't achieve softcapped DEF on either positional or typed I don't even bother chasing it.   But the other "must have" for a /Stormie is LOTS of +RECH.  This build with all the FF +RECH procs going off will run you almost constant ~225% +RECH, which means double Tornado and double LS is almost always available, and Dark Consumption and Soul Drain are up very fast after use.  You can't underestimate a Fire/Storm's DPS output with double Tornado/LS and running "self Fulcrum Shift" from Soul Drain.  It's bonkers levels of damage.

Forgive the minor necrothreading. 

 

@crysis did you ever try playing a similar build with Hurricane?  My main difficulty is that the PBAoEs like Consumption and Inferno just don't play nice with Hurricane for obvious reasons.   Hurricane is too much debuff for me to skip, I'll work it into my build somewhere.

 

And also, do you get much out of Rain of Fire?  It really doesn't seem to do much damage.

Not a fan of Hurricane once I get past my 30’s.  If I solo’d extensively perhaps but by 40’s it generally fast moving teams and DPS trumps most defensive playstyles that would make heavy use of ‘cane.  Obviously, beauty in the eye and all that but unless I’m solo’ing I just don’t have much use for it, and when I solo with this build, Melee softcapped DEF renders Hurricane largely unneeded to get in close for the PBAoE.  

 

Rain of Fire is just like any other rain.   I either use it as an area denial rain and/or a finisher for a spawn.  Or in the case of the build I posted, a place for a 4 piece of Superior Scourging Blast for the +END/+Recovery (Storm is always an endurance hog set) and +Recharge bonuses.
