The Colossal buffer/healer - Nature Defender (build and videos included)

Voltak

Recommended Posts

UPDATE **  ( left out ALPHA recommendations, and are now included )

I have received dozens of request to share my build, my Nature/Sonic defender build.
I have posted some videos of him in action.
He's done the most extreme of game content already and, if well played, he can be a tremendous buffer for the team to try to ensure no one, or the minimal, amount of players die.

He's done
1. 801s at the highest of difficulty levels
2. AEON relentless
3. ITF four star
4. Solo'd even level AVs (Tested this with Inferno)

He's the only one that comes close to my Elec Affinity in doing the life support, but does things that Elec Affinity cannot do (Nature also cannot provide some things that Elec Affinity can)

Wether the build is any good or not depends on what you can do with it, and how you use it.
Yes, the main thing is the driver, but a better car will enable you to do better as well.
Goes both ways.

But my results with the build have left me satisfied with the work put into it.

** Important, this was done BEFORE the changes to Sonic Blast **
I am sharing the build before the changes but you can adjust to sonic blast's revisions.
It's no big deal and you can still reach similar numbers.

Being a good Nature player takes practice.  Being a good player takes practice.
The build only goes so far.
Remember that Nature is all about angles and positioning and even good timing.

And please BLAST with Sonic, for defensive purposes, please blast !
Every time you debuff resistances you also multiply the dmg debuff applied to the enemies.
This is a very significant form of defense.
Nature has ways to debuff enemy dmg and resistance
Sonic will lower resistances
They compliment each other well

Alpha incarnate recommendations -
1. Spiritual T4 Radial -  more healing, more recharge, more to hit buffs (benefiting overgrowth and tactics )
2. Vigor (more healing, greater end reduction)
3. Agility -  more defense, more recharge, more endurance modification

For having the luck to team with, Voltak is a monster, one of the best support i know.

Sharing such a build to the comunity is awesome, Thank you Sir ! 🙂

You are very welcome.
I might not have done so  8 years ago, but I have more time in my hands to do this kind of stuff.
The way I see it, if I help others to be better support players, the better support we will all have.
Support is the most valuable category of this game in team make up at the highest difficulty of challenges

As I'm not the first to say it's a Awesome build and tyvm for sharing.  I was just wondering sense Evasive Maneuvers effects do not apply while in battle or while supporting the team you took it as a mule powers for LOYG? Taking Evasive Maneuvers out of the totals for real world application (not just standing idle) the Def number are mostly in the 20's with Energy and Negative at 39.8% and Ranged at 37.6%.  You've proven the build I'm not questioning it just making sure I'm understanding it correctly.  I saw that you were actually using it in your video.  Maybe I'm mistaken on how Evasive works but according to the description I don't think I am LOL.

Thank you for the compliment.  You are welcome.

Evasive maneuvers is a travel boost, it also enhances control while in flight.
These two alone are very valuable.
It also is a resist/prot vs anti-fly powers from enemy.

Also, you do not lose the defensive numbers if you are attacked.
You only lose if you are engaging at attacking them or if you buff your team or buff pets.

However, have you seen my videos ?

While traveling in the ITF or in AEON or any other very hard content, the defense while traveling from one point to another is very very welcome, since it is one additional manner to help protect you while moving especially when moving for the sake of speed is needed.
The enemy can target you or attack you, as long as you are just traveling to the next spot, you are keeping those defense numbers.

That, again, is complemented by the movement boost provided.

Thank you very much for explaining that.

I did watch your Videos.

I guess my understanding of how Evasive Maneuvers works wasn't accurate. Again thank you for explaining it to me.

Got me wondering if it could be sturdier, you did take a couple hefty hits but after some fiddling the differences seem negligible, tiny bit of extra hp/recharge/ranged def/res to ne+e:

The 49% ranged def is with power boost on the rest of the time its sitting at 38'ish. That almost 20 second downtime on pb. I'm assuming the - to hit debuff from spore cloud takes care of the rest.

Down time is only 12 seconds on my Defender.
Again, the boost lasts 10 seconds.  The down time is 12 seconds for me.

Absolutely worth it.

I wasn't questioning the worth of power boost its one of the top powers in game and i'd recommend it to anyone that has the option to take it. How did you get the downtime to 12 seconds? The boost lasts 15 seconds and the recharge with a +5 rech io is 33.71

Buffs, team buffs.  Ageless , SB, energizing circuit.
I almost never solo.

From 18 secs, down to about 12

That's pretty common, but not nearly as effective as it's assumed to be.  It's the sledgehammer square peg into round hole approach.

AE 801 (link) is a variety of missions for fun and challenge, and is designed for a team of 5+ Incarnates.  Just search '801' in AE.

801 Difficulty Varies: 801.0 Easy, ..., 801.2 Standard, ..., 801.5 Hard, ..., 801.8 Extreme, ..., 801.A Epic, ... 801.F Death.

I run Incandescence on my Nature Defender

The boosts to the heals are out of this world

it also helps the MM tremendously to reposition pets

It helps a lot in Part 2

Same thing in Part 4 when it's time to regroup or rez and so on

  • Voltak changed the title to The Colossal buffer/healer - Nature Defender (build and videos included)

I have a Nature MM I really like, and a Sonic Defender who debuffs really well, so I recently figured hey, why not roll up a Nature/Sonic Defender?  I will be heavily copying this build, so thanks!

One question about Entangling Aura, which I really enjoy on my Nature MM.  I take it this build doesn't have it because it doesn't really fit the support role, but if you had to give up a power for EA, what would you drop?

@Voltak how would an ill/nature compare in your estimation?

A loss of DMG for the team.
Corrs and Defenders will do more dmg than an Illusion/Nature.

The absorbs on defender could be 300points of absorb higher.

For support, defenders and corrs, or MMs when it comes to Nature, since they will do more dmg with their other powerset

Nothing from nature for EA.
