KM/SR

Well, just wasn't enjoying the KM/EA.  Honestly, I thought I had a build/concept that would finally have me enjoying EA and I was wrong.  KM/SR at 50 now and been a lot more enjoyable (that said, I wish I enjoyed the animations of KM with Shield, as I'd love that combo, I'm sure).

This is the build I'm going with right now.  However, thinking maybe I should be dumping Tactics for Repulsing Torrent or Ball Lightning.  I do however like Tactics for the Confuse/Fear Resist that comes with it.

If I did do it, I'd move the Gaussian Set to Power Siphon.  Then use a set with at least +5% Recharge bonus in it for RT or BL.

I'm pretty curious on this one. Why do you feel you are enjoying SR more than EA? I personally think both sets are really good (lean towards EA because of a taunt aura for me). I do get annoyed I can't always see my costume with EA. That is a real irritation for me.

 

I actually enjoyed the KM/SD combo, but my costume was a super fat clown carrying a pothole for a shield. That helped, a lot. That costume cracked me up.

Honestly, I don't know.  Some of it may be that the taunt aura is tied to the mez protection, when I then have to turn off if I want to actually make use of the stealth aspect of the set.

 

I know it annoys me so much every time I play the set.

 

KM/SD is purely about the animations KM uses with shield.  The first three attacks aren't as bad (though I still wish they used the original animations), but Concentrated Strike is just so bad imo.

Never even thought to try KM with Shield!  I'll have to see how silly it looks.

 

I have KM/SR in both Stalker and Tanker flavors.  KM is a very love/hate set for me.  It's so much more noticeable (and thus irritating) when my target dies during windup

That's why I save CS only for the hard targets, as the reset of Power Siphon or going for the best dps.  For normal mobs, I generally go with just the first 3 attacks and quick snipe.

I did same with dual blades and energy vs sr. Played energy all the way to 50 plus io’d and just didn’t like it. I do a lot of ITFs so debuffs were part of it.

I can't honestly say I like SR the best of it.  However, I do like it better than Energy, in that wow...have to toggle off my mez protection just to use my stealth 😕

Respeced out of Tactics.  Rely on the Kismet.  The end use was just to much!  So, grabbed Repulsing Torrent and put Gaussian's in Siphon Power.

 

Yeah, I know, RT does KB, but...I wanted to keep the KM power 🙂

I've been leveling KM/Regen.   I am not in love with KM.  The animations feel way too long. The sound isn't nearly as satisfying as something like DM.   I do love all the KD, it works very well with /Regen.  The range on Repulsing Torrent is just crazy.  One thing I feel is somewhat unique to KM is my ability to queue attacks and have them fire on mobs even when they have moved away.  I've tried this on DM, SM, Staff, and SJ,  and it doesn't seem to work the same.  Maybe I'm imagining it.

Did you give any consideration to KM/Ninjitsu? It is a little on the nose for a pairing, but there's a lot about Ninjitsu that sets up similarly to how SR does, but you get a heal out of the package, extra perception, and some workable resistance instead of pretend resistance. There's also a nice bonus in this set with Concentrated Strike and Shinobi-Iri's critical boost (plus you said you mentioned desires for a stealth component).

I know I've thought about KM/NIN.  I love NIN.  It was the weak defense debuff resist and wanting to try out SR on a Scrapper.  Never did it on anything other than a Sentinel.

     FYI unless I'm missing it Ninjitsu's perception bonuses are identical to SR (Danger Sense vs Focused Senses).   And *cough* workable resistance?  Guessing by that you mean enhanceable (in 3 different powers no less) and able to take a couple specific IOs without need to go outside the set with a power choice.  That does open options for builds a bit but you are going to have to work at it to gain SR value resistances I'm thinking.  Admittedly you do have to get comfortable with the increasingly red colors in your health bar though to really leverage it.

Could I see your build? I've been fooling around with a KM/Regen and I'm curious to see what you did with it. Regen is awfully skinny on resists and defense. Feel free to DM me the data chunk if you don't want to necro the thread anymore than I have by posting this.

 I don't have Mids, so I have no build editor.  And even if I did, it's just straight IOs with the exception of overwhelming fear in Repulsing Torrent.  Plus, I think the toon is only 38 or so.  I can do 2x0 without too much trouble.  My lvl 45 SM/Regen can do +3's without too much trouble.  Neither of them use Tough, Weave, or any set bonuses outside of Overwhelming Fear.   Both of these are /Regens are part of my comparing sets.   So I don't use inspiration during the fights.

 

The worst set, by far, has been /SR.   I tried some +2's at lvl 27 and I was taking a knee after every fight, and had essentially no hope of beating the boss sans inpsiration.

 

/Rad is turning out to be really good so far.  Not quite as good as /Regen, but easily on par wth Willpower.
